IIT Madras-incubated EV Charger company Plugzmart has introduced Relay – a platform that allows a single public EV charger to connect with multiple Charging Management Systems(CMS).
CMS is the software that enables public charger operators to monitor and control charging sessions, charger health, and billing, among other functions. This software also has dedicated apps that EV users rely upon to find available chargers.
Currently, operators can only configure their charger with one CMS platform, which will only be visible on the respective CMS provider’s app or network. Relay acts as a middleware enabling multiple CMS connections for a single charger. This means the same charger will be available on multiple networks, thereby improving visibility and accessibility.
“One of the biggest roadblocks for EV adoption is the limited availability of chargers visible on public platforms. Our solution maximises the visibility of each installed charger by allowing it to appear on multiple networks. This boosts charger utilisation, increases ROI for charger owners, and gives EV users more options”, said Raghavendar TS, Director of Software Business Unit, Plugzmart.
Meanwhile, Plugzmart has built its own IoT-enabled smart EV charging management system to integrate and communicate efficiently with chargers.
