West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, on Monday, said the BJP government’s first Budget in the State prioritised generating employment, incentivising industry, protecting people, upholding citizens’ dignity and creating a fear-free environment.
Addressing a post-Budget press conference, Adhikari said providing a “fear-free environment” to the citizens of Bengal was the priority of the government.
“This Budget is an attempt to bring back the lost culture and dignity of West Bengal. In this Budget, priority has been given to the security of West Bengal, providing a fear-free environment to the citizens and reviving the culture. Education and agriculture have also been given importance,” the Chief Minister said.
Bharosa scheme
The government announced to fill one lakh vacancies across various departments. Thirty-three per cent of these government jobs are to be reserved for women.
The Budget also proposed “Bharosa Scheme” for unemployed individuals aged 21-45 years. Under the scheme, graduates not having a job will be entitled to financial assistance of ₹3,000 per month. Meanwhile, unemployed non-graduates will receive an allowance of ₹2,000 per month.
Dearness Allowance (DA) for State government employees has also been proposed to increase by 20 per cent. Total DA entitlement for the government employees will rise to 38 per cent. The revised DA rates will come into effect from October 1.
