Expert Take | Rajesh Palviya, Head of Research, Axis Direct
The Nifty 50 extended its corrective phase for a second consecutive session on Tuesday, declining 80.50 points (0.34%) to close at 23,865.75. Weakness in the IT pack, which tumbled 2.7% amid selling in export-oriented stocks ahead of crucial US economic data, weighed on sentiment, while a 4.8% decline in Eicher Motors following Delhi’s revised EV policy added to the pressure. However, resilience in the broader market, supported by gains in Realty, Consumer Durables and Pharma stocks, helped limit the downside.
Global cues remain constructive. Wall Street concluded its strongest quarter since 2020 on a firm footing, with the Dow Jones closing at a record 52,319, while a rally in semiconductor stocks lifted the Nasdaq by 1.5% and the S&P 500 by 0.8%. Improving investor confidence, easing concerns over the Federal Reserve’s independence and optimism surrounding renewed US-Iran talks in Doha underpinned the positive sentiment.
Asian markets are trading with a positive bias, led by Japan’s Nikkei, which climbed over 1.6% to fresh record highs on AI-driven technology optimism and a weaker yen. South Korea’s Kospi pared early gains to trade largely flat, while Hong Kong markets remain closed for a public holiday. Meanwhile, Brent crude has softened towards the $73 per barrel mark as shipping through the Strait of Hormuz normalises, providing a supportive backdrop for India’s inflation outlook.

Expert View | Market analysis by Vikram Subburaj, CEO, Giottus.com
Bitcoin remained under pressure on Wednesday, trading around $58,700 after another subdued session. Bitcoin has struggled to reclaim the psychologically important $60,000 level. Investors remain cautious.
From a technical perspective, Bitcoin continues to trade within a crucial support zone. Immediate support is seen at $57,900–58,100. A break below this zone could increase selling pressure. The next major support is around $55,000. This level is close to Bitcoin’s realised price tracked by on-chain analytics firms. On the upside, the first resistance remains at $60,000, followed by the $61,000–61,700 zone. A sustained move above these levels would be required to improve near-term market sentiment.
On-chain data continues to present a mixed picture. Exchange-held Bitcoin balances remain significantly below levels seen at the beginning of the year. This indicates that long-term holders are not rushing to sell. At the same time, broader on-chain activity suggests demand remains subdued and accumulation has slowed. Market data shows that most large-cap altcoins are still trading below their long-term moving averages. This suggests that weakness continues across the broader crypto market.
Institutional participation also remained soft. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded a net outflow of approximately $10 million on June 30, extending the recent period of muted institutional demand. Aggregate ETF flow data for July 1 has not been fully released yet. Therefore, it is too early to draw conclusions about investor positioning.
Macroeconomic developments remain the primary driver of crypto markets. Investors are closely watching the U.S. non-farm payrolls report due on July 2, which could significantly influence expectations for the Federal Reserve’s policy path. Current market pricing continues to suggest the Fed is likely to keep interest rates unchanged at its July FOMC meeting. Attention remains focused on incoming inflation and labour-market data. Investors are looking for clues on the timing of any future rate cuts.Higher-for-longer interest rates typically reduce appetite for risk assets, including cryptocurrencies.
The broader crypto market traded cautiously alongside Bitcoin. Ethereum hovered around $1,575, XRP traded near $1.04, BNB remained around $545, and Solana changed hands near $74. Overall market sentiment remains defensive, with investors preferring larger-cap assets amid continued macro uncertainty.
Our advice: Bitcoin needs to decisively reclaim the $60,000–61,700 resistance zone. ETF inflows also need to show sustained improvement. Until then, the market is likely to remain range-bound. It may also stay sensitive to macroeconomic data releases. Investors should continue to focus on disciplined risk management and staggered accumulation rather than chasing short-term price swings.

Expert Take | Cryptocurrency | Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42
“Bitcoin slipped below the $60,000 mark as cautious investor sentiment persisted ahead of key U.S. economic data, with ETF outflows and broader macro uncertainty continuing to weigh on the market. While short-term price action remains under pressure, the current phase reflects a market navigating external headwinds rather than a shift in Bitcoin’s long-term fundamentals.
One of the more notable developments is that nearly half of Bitcoin’s circulating supply is now estimated to be underwater, highlighting the extent of the recent correction. Historically, periods like these have reflected heightened market stress, but they have also marked phases where long-term investors begin reassessing accumulation opportunities rather than reacting to short-term volatility.
The next phase is likely to be determined less by sentiment and more by capital flows. With much of the speculative positioning already unwound, the market now needs fresh buying interest to rebuild momentum. Until stronger inflows return, Bitcoin may continue to trade within a volatile range despite intermittent rebounds.
For investors, this is a reminder that market recoveries are rarely driven by headlines alone. Sustainable rallies tend to emerge when confidence is supported by renewed participation, improving liquidity, and steady capital deployment. Monitoring these underlying indicators will be far more valuable than reacting to short-term price swings.”

Nayara Energy cuts petrol price by ₹5/litre, diesel by ₹3 as global oil rates cool down
Nayara Energy, India’s largest private fuel retailer, on Wednesday cut petrol prices by ₹5 per litre and diesel by ₹3 a litre across its nationwide network, marking the first reduction in retail fuel prices by any company in more than two years as easing tensions in West Asia pulled down international oil prices.
The price cut follows a retreat in global crude oil prices after hostilities in West Asia eased and the reopening of a key maritime route restored the flow of crude oil and liquefied natural gas, reducing concerns over supply disruptions.
The revised rates have come into effect at all of Nayara’s more than 7,000 fuel stations across the country, industry sources said. Actual pump prices vary across states depending on local levies such as value-added tax (VAT). Read more here

Gold Steadies as US-Iran Peace Talks Frame Inflation Outlook
Gold was steady, with traders assessing peace talks between the US and Iran and weighing a fresh slew of US economic data for clues on the Federal Reserve’s next move on interest rates.
Bullion held near $4,000 an ounce, having given up almost 2% in the last two sessions.
Gold has lost around 24% since the conflict began in late February, breaking through key technical levels including the 200-day moving average that maps long-term momentum. Though oil prices have retreated after spiking earlier in the war, traders have upped bets that the Fed may hike interest rates this year to tackle inflation. Higher borrowing costs are a headwind for non-yielding metals.

Commodities Check | Crude oil ticks higher as Iran’s refusal to meet US envoys dims ceasefire hopes
Oil prices rose in early trade on Wednesday as investors responded to news that Iran will not be meeting with U.S. envoys, a further strain on the interim ceasefire agreed between the two in the four-month-long war.
Brent futures rose 50 cents or 0.69% to $73.45 a barrel at 1208 GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude climbed 63 cents, or 0.91%, to $70.13 a barrel.
U.S. President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and envoy Steve Witkoff arrived in Doha for what the White House described as “high level” talks on Tuesday, but Iran and host Qatar said they would meet with mediators, rather than the Iranians themselves. (Reuters)

Stock Market LIVE updates: Nifty slips for third day on Monday as IT drags
Benchmarks ended lower for the third straight session on Tuesday, the monthly expiry day, as a sharp selloff in IT stocks and persistent caution over US-Iran talks in Doha offset resilience in the broader market.
“Markets traded in a volatile yet narrow range on the monthly expiry day and settled marginally lower, extending the ongoing consolidation phase,” said Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd.
The Nifty 50 opened with a gap-up at 24,032.05 but failed to hold the gains, swinging between 24,035.55 and 23,829.20 before closing at 23,865.75, down 80.50 points or 0.34 per cent. The Sensex fell 250 points, or 0.33 per cent, to settle at 76,478.
