Huawei to soon unveil wide foldable smartphone, Pura X Max: What to expect

Huawei is reportedly gearing up to launch a wide foldable smartphone, Huawei Pura X Max, in China. According to a report by 9To5Google, citing GSMArena, the said smartphone will have a super wide form factor, and it will rival the anticipated wide foldable smartphones from Apple and Samsung.

Though exact specifications have not been revealed, as per the report, the inner display ratio is expected to be 16:11. As per the pictures listed on Huawei’s website, the outer display appears to be short and wide with a camera module on the back of the device.

Huawei Pura X Max: What to expect

According to listings on Huawei’s official online store, the Pura X Max is expected to come in Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold, Phantom Night Black, Vibrant Orange and Zero Degree White finishes.

The device appears to feature a triple rear camera system placed within a horizontally aligned, pill-shaped module. It is also equipped with front-facing cameras on both the outer display and the internal screen.

A report by GSMArena suggests the phone may be offered in multiple configurations, including 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage and 16GB RAM paired with 512GB or 1TB storage. The handset is also likely to be powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9030 series chipset.

If wider foldable smartphones from Apple and Samsung launch soon, then the Huawei Pura X Max will be rivalling them.

Samsung Galaxy Z Wide: What to expect

According to a report by 9to5Google, citing Korea Economic Times, Samsung’s rumoured “Wide” foldable could take a noticeably different direction from its current Fold series. Instead of the tall and narrow profile seen so far, the device is expected to adopt a broader aspect ratio. If accurate, this shift in design could position it as a competitor to Apple’s expected foldable iPhone.

In terms of display, the device is tipped to feature a 5.4-inch cover screen alongside a 7.6-inch main display, with the wider proportions aimed at delivering a more comfortable viewing experience. Early renders suggest a shorter and wider chassis, paired with a vertically stacked dual rear camera setup, although the final design may differ. The phone is also expected to maintain a relatively slim profile even in its folded state.

On the specifications front, the Wide variant is likely to retain much of the hardware found in the standard Galaxy Z Fold 8. This could include a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset, a 5,000mAh battery and support for 45W charging. The primary distinction is expected to lie in its display format, which may offer a more tablet-like usability compared to existing Fold models.

Foldable iPhone: What to expect

As per a Bloomberg report, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is expected to follow a book-style form factor, unfolding into a larger internal display roughly comparable to an iPad mini, alongside a smaller outer screen. The inner panel is said to feature a relatively wider aspect ratio than most existing foldables, which could improve usability for media consumption and productivity tasks. Apple is also reportedly working on reducing the visibility of the crease and enhancing overall durability, areas that have been common concerns with current foldable devices.

On the software side, the device is likely to run iOS with interface tweaks influenced by iPadOS. This could include features such as split-screen multitasking and redesigned UI elements like sidebars to make navigation easier. While it may not deliver a full desktop-like experience, users are still expected to be able to use two apps simultaneously.

In terms of hardware, several changes are anticipated to suit the foldable design. Apple may introduce a punch-hole camera on the cover display, shift from Face ID to a side-mounted Touch ID sensor, and equip the device with a dual rear camera setup. These potential changes point to a redesign aimed at adapting to the foldable format. The device is currently expected to be announced in September this year.

Google app may get Gemini-powered 'Your Day' feed for updates and more

Google app may get Gemini-powered 'Your Day' feed for updates and more

Representative image: Gemini could soon help users complete tasks directly on Android apps through screen automation.

Google is reportedly working on a new feature called “Your Day” for its Google app, which could offer users a proactive, AI-driven daily feed. According to a report from 9To5Google, the feature is expected to use Gemini AI to surface reminders, events and useful updates, helping users stay organised and better prepared throughout the day.

Gemini-powered ‘Your Day’ feed: What’s it

According to the report, the feature was mentioned in the beta version 17.14 of the Google app on Android. By decompiling the app, 9To5Google found strings referencing a new “Your Day” feature.

The code suggested that users will be able to “Receive a proactive feed from Gemini to stay ahead of your day.” However, as noted in the report, features found in the app’s code may not always be released publicly and details could change over time.

As reported, “Your Day” could be added as a new settings card under the “Personal Intelligence” section in the Google app. This section already includes options like Memory (previously known as Past Chats), Connected Apps and instructions for Gemini. The report further noted that the “Your Day” feed can be accessed from the app’s navigation drawer, based on what was enabled during testing.

While there is no detail on how the feature will appear visually, the report suggested that the feature may display a series of cards. These could include upcoming events, reminders and other relevant updates pulled from different Google services. As highlighted by 9To5Google, this feed is likely to rely on data from apps such as Gmail and others connected to a user’s Google account.

YouTube Premium to get new tools, including auto-playback speed adjustment

YouTube Premium to get new tools, including auto-playback speed adjustment

YouTube is reportedly testing two new features for its Premium users: “Auto speed” and “On-the-go.” According to a report from 9To5Google, these features will let users watch videos with automatically adjusted playback speed and access simpler controls that adapt when they are moving. As reported, the features have been spotted in the YouTube Android app as experimental tools for Premium users. They are disabled by default and need to be enabled manually. Here are these two features:

Auto speed: Playback adjusts on its own

The first feature, called “Auto speed,” is described in the report as an advanced version of playback speed controls. Instead of manually selecting speeds like 1.5x or 2x, this feature automatically adjusts the playback speed as the video progresses.

According to the report, this could be especially useful for certain types of content, such as cooking videos, where some parts can be sped up while others need normal speed. The report added that the feature is currently limited to English-language content and only works with supported videos. When available, the “Auto” option appears alongside existing playback speed controls.

On-the-go: Motion-based interface changes

The second feature, “On-the-go,” focuses on making video controls easier to use while moving. As per the report, the feature takes inspiration from the YouTube Music interface.

It can activate automatically when motion is detected for at least 60 seconds or users can enable it manually through video settings. Once activated, the interface shifts to a simpler layout with more accessible playback controls.

The report suggested that elements like the play button and timeline may become convenient to access, while options like download could be made more prominent.

Limited rollout

According to 9To5Google, both features are currently limited to Android devices. The report noted that “Auto speed” was functional during testing, while “On-the-go” appeared less stable. Since these are experimental features, YouTube may change or remove them in the future. For now, Premium users can try them out until April 27, after which Google may decide whether to expand or discontinue them.

Why Doctors Recommend Drinking Water Before Meals:
