The Pakistan Cricket Board has unveiled a heavily restructured fifteen player squad for the upcoming 2026 Asian Games scheduled to take place in Aichi Nagoya, Japan. Aggressive top order batsman Sahibzada Farhan has been rewarded for his record breaking performances during the 2026 T20 World Cup campaign and will lead the national team as captain, while former skipper Salman Ali Agha has been stripped of the captaincy and omitted from the T20I lineup entirely.

The selected roster reflects a major youth movement by the selectors, with iconic stars such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Afridi, and Shadab Khan completely left out of the continental tournament.

New Leadership and Fresh Faces in the Roster

The newly configured side introduces Abdul Samad as the team vice captain to serve as Farhan’s primary deputy. While Farhan brings the experience of appearing in 46 T20Is for Pakistan, this assignment will mark his initial stint captaining the national side in white ball cricket. Samad has accumulated five T20I caps throughout his career but has not featured for Pakistan in the shortest international format since March of last year, though he was recently integrated into the ODI squad during the tour of Australia.

The selection committee has named Usman Khan as the frontline wicketkeeper for a squad that looks vastly different from the group fielded during the T20 World Cup earlier this year. To inject fresh talent, four uncapped players who have yet to make their T20I debuts for Pakistan have been integrated into the mix: Akif Javed, Ali Raza, Maaz Sadaqat, and Saad Masood. Javed earned his spot on the flight to Japan following a string of highly impressive performances as a left arm speedster in the ongoing T20 Blast.

Training Camp Timeline and Historical Context

The collective roster represents a highly unified development group, with 14 out of the 15 chosen squad members already participating in the National Cricket Academy white ball conditioning camp, which is slated to commence in Lahore on June 15.

The men’s cricket discipline at the Asian Games will be contested using the official T20 format, with matches scheduled to take place at the Korogi Athletic Park located within the Aichi prefecture. The competitive schedule runs from September 24 through October 3, starting with three days of preliminary pool matches before advancing into the quarter finals. The critical semi final fixtures are set for October 1, culminating in both the bronze medal match and the gold medal final on October 3.

This tournament marks the fourth instance of cricket being featured at the Asian Games, following its inclusion at Guangzhou 2010, Incheon 2014, and Hangzhou 2022 which was held in 2023. The previous edition in Hangzhou was historic as the first to be granted official international status by the ICC, where India secured the gold medal in both the men’s and women’s divisions, while Afghanistan claimed the silver medal and Bangladesh took home the bronze. Pakistan will be aiming for a stronger showing this year after finishing in a disappointing fourth place during the last edition, where they managed only a single victory alongside two defeats.

AI Stocks Whipsaw Wall Street as Iran Tensions, Rate Fears Rattle Markets

The S&P 500 swung wildly before closing down 0.3%, as crashing AI shares, spiking oil prices tied to the Iran conflict, and looming Fed rate hike fears kept investors on edge.

Another sudden reversal for high-flying artificial-intelligence stocks sent Wall Street reeling on Tuesday. The S&P 500 fell 0.3% after careening between an initial gain of 1% and a midday loss of 2.3%, pulling further from its all-time high set a week ago. After similar yo-yo moves, the Dow Jones Industrial Average added 86 points (0.2%) and the Nasdaq composite dropped 1%.

Oil prices pared their losses, though, after President Donald Trump said Iran was responsible for downing an American military helicopter near the Strait of Hormuz and that the United States must respond to the attack. High oil prices caused by the war with Iran have already created a painful acceleration of inflation for U.S. shoppers.

The latest monthly updates on U.S. inflation will arrive later in the week, with one on consumer prices coming Wednesday and one on wholesale prices coming Thursday. Inflation is high enough, and the U.S. job market looks strong enough, that traders on Wall Street largely expect the Federal Reserve will have to raise its main interest rate at least once by the end of this year. Higher interest rates would keep a lid on inflation, but they would also threaten to slow the economy and undercut prices for stocks and all kinds of other investments. The average long-term U.S. mortgage rate recently hit its highest level in nine months, and high costs to borrow money could discourage the building of AI data centers that are fueling the U.S. economys growth.

AI stocks tumbled after an early rally faded, with Micron Technology swinging from a 4% gain to a 10% drop before closing down 1.4% part of a volatile stretch that has its stock up threefold this year, fueling concerns it has risen too fast. Marvell Technology fell 7.6% and AMD slid 3% as the broader AI sector continued to reel from last week’s industrywide sell-off, leaving investors debating whether a prolonged downturn or a healthy shake-out is underway. Despite the turbulence, several major AI players including OpenAI, which filed confidential IPO paperwork Monday are pressing ahead with U.S. listings at high valuations. The AI weakness overshadowed a broader market tailwind from falling oil prices, even as nearly three in four S&P 500 stocks finished in the green.

Airline stocks flew higher after the drop in oil prices hinted at less pressure on their fuel bills. American Airlines rose 3.6%, and Delta Air Lines gained 3.8%. J.M. Smucker jumped 10.4% after reporting a stronger profit for the latest quarter than analysts expected. The company behind the Folgers, Hostess and other brands benefited from higher prices charged for coffee and sweet baked goods. Nuvalent soared 39.3% after GSK agreed to buy the biotech company for $10.6 billion. The shares of U.K.-based GSK that trade in New York added 1.2%.
In stock markets abroad, indexes dipped in Europe following bigger moves in Asia. South Koreas Kospi jumped 8.2% and nearly recovered Mondays plunge of 8.3%. Its been beholden to the performance of big tech stocks like SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics.

Treasury yields eased Tuesday with the fade in oil prices, relaxing some of that pressure. The yield on the 10-year Treasury fell to 4.52% from 4.56% late Monday, though its still well above its 3.97% level from before the war with Iran.

Warning Signs Of Mental Health Problems: मेंटल हेल्थ आज भारत के सामने उभरती हुई सबसे बड़ी हेल्थ चुनौतियों में से एक बनता जा रहा है. इसका गंभीर संकेत 2024 के नेशनल क्राइम रिकॉर्ड्स ब्यूरो के आंकड़ों में भी देखने को मिला है. रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, मध्य प्रदेश में वर्ष 2024 के दौरान 15,491 लोगों ने आत्महत्या की, यानी औसतन हर दिन 42 लोगों ने अपनी जान गंवाई. यह आंकड़ा सिर्फ एक अपराध या सामाजिक समस्या नहीं, बल्कि गहराते मेंटल हेल्थ संकट की ओर भी इशारा करता है.

मेंटल हेल्थ क्यों चुनौती की तरह उभर रहा?

एक्सपर्ट का मानना है कि छात्रों और युवाओं में बढ़ता तनाव इस संकट का एक बड़ा कारण बनकर उभरा है. प्रतियोगी परीक्षाओं का दबाव, करियर को लेकर अनिश्चितता और लगातार बढ़ती अपेक्षाएं युवाओं के मानसिक स्वास्थ्य को प्रभावित कर रही हैं. आंकड़ों के मुताबिक मध्य प्रदेश छात्र आत्महत्या के मामलों में देश में तीसरे स्थान पर है और राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर होने वाली छात्र आत्महत्याओं में लगभग 10 प्रतिशत हिस्सेदारी अकेले इसी राज्य की है.

लड़कियों के मामले हैरान कर देने वाले

चिंताजनक बात यह है कि छात्राओं पर मानसिक दबाव का असर अधिक दिखाई दे रहा है. वर्ष 2024 में राज्य में 731 छात्राओं और 716 छात्रों ने आत्महत्या की. इसे बढ़ते शैक्षणिक दबाव, सामाजिक अपेक्षाओं और भावनात्मक तनाव से जोड़कर देखते हैं. हेल्थ एक्सपर्ट का कहना है कि आत्महत्या कभी भी अचानक लिया गया फैसला नहीं होता. इसके पीछे लंबे समय से चल रही मानसिक परेशानियां, डिप्रेशन, चिंता और इमोशनल संघर्ष छिपे हो सकते हैं. इसलिए शुरुआती संकेतों को पहचानना बेहद जरूरी है.

अहमदाबाद स्थित एक निजी मनोचिकित्सा केंद्र की कंसलटेंट और ‘हैप्पीनेस फर्स्ट’ की एक्सपर्ट डॉ. विधि पटेल वैष्णव के अनुसार यदि कोई व्यक्ति बार-बार मौत या आत्महत्या की बातें करने लगे, अत्यधिक चिंता और बेचैनी महसूस करे, खुद को निरर्थक समझने लगे, अचानक लोगों से दूरी बनाने लगे या अपनी प्रिय चीजें दूसरों को देने लगे, तो इसे गंभीर चेतावनी संकेत माना जाना चाहिए. ऐसे मामलों में तुरंत एक्सपर्ट की मदद लेना जरूरी है. डॉ का कहना है कि समय पर मेडिकल सहायता और इमोशनल सहयोग कई जिंदगियां बचा सकता है. अच्छी नींद, नियमित व्यायाम, परिवार और दोस्तों से खुलकर बात करना, स्क्रीन टाइम कम करना और जीवन में संतोष की भावना विकसित करना मानसिक स्वास्थ्य को बेहतर बनाने में मददगार हो सकता है.

मेंटल हेल्थ पर ध्यान देने की जरूरत

एक्सपर्ट यह भी मानते हैं कि मानसिक स्वास्थ्य सेवाओं को गांव और छोटे शहरों तक पहुंचाना समय की जरूरत है. स्कूलों और कॉलेजों में काउंसलिंग सुविधाएं, प्राथमिक स्वास्थ्य केंद्रों पर प्रशिक्षित मानसिक स्वास्थ्य एक्सपर्ट और जागरूकता अभियान इस दिशा में अहम भूमिका निभा सकते हैं.

CMR Green Tech share price debut at 43.4% premium on BSE

Shares of CMR Green Technologies made a strong stock market debut on Wednesday, listing at a sharp premium over the issue price amid robust investor demand for the company’s ₹631-crore initial public offering (IPO).

The stock debuted at ₹275.40 on the BSE, marking a premium of 43.4 per cent over the issue price of ₹192 per share. On the NSE, the shares listed at ₹268, up 39.5 per cent from the IPO price.

However, at around 10.10 am, the stock dipped to trade at the ₹255 mark.

According to Shivani Nyati, Head of Wealth at Swastika Investmart Ltd, the strong debut reflects investor interest in the company’s position as a leading non-ferrous metal recycler and secondary aluminium producer.

“Following such a sharp listing gain, some profit booking and short-term volatility are likely. Investors who received allotment may consider booking partial profits while continuing to hold the remaining shares for the medium to long term, given the company’s exposure to the growing recycled metals industry. New investors should avoid chasing the stock at elevated levels and wait for a correction or consolidation before considering fresh entries.”

“Overall, caution is warranted after the strong debut. Investors may maintain a stop-loss at cost ₹192 to protect gains, as a sustained move below this level could indicate weakening momentum,” Nyati added.

The strong listing came after the IPO attracted overwhelming investor interest across categories and was subscribed 127 times overall.

Among investor segments, the portion reserved for qualified institutional buyers (QIBs) was subscribed 270.46 times, while the non-institutional investor category saw subscribed 172.35 times. The retail investor portion was subscribed 27.03 times.

The IPO was fully subscribed on the first day of bidding itself, despite a largely bearish trend in the broader equity market during the week.

Ahead of the issue opening, CMR Green Technologies had raised ₹188.44 crore from anchor investors on Tuesday.

The company had fixed a price band of ₹182-192 per equity share for the IPO.

The public issue was entirely an offer-for-sale (OFS) of up to 3.28 crore equity shares by promoters and an investor selling shareholder.

Faridabad-based CMR Green Technologies is engaged in processing and manufacturing aluminium alloys in ingot and liquid form, zinc alloys, and furnace-ready scrap of stainless steel, copper, brass, lead and magnesium, among other materials.

The company supplies products to major automotive and engineering companies, including Honda Cars India, Bajaj Auto, Hero MotoCorp, Royal Enfield Motors, Endurance Technologies, Rockman Industries and Craftsman Automation.
