FPI inflows into FAR securities rise by ₹8,795 cr after govt tax exemption move

Foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) have invested ₹8,794.743 crore in government securities under the Fully Accessible Route (FAR) after the government exempted them from income tax on interest income and capital gains arising from investments in these bonds.

According to data from the Clearing Corporation of India Ltd (CCIL), FPI holdings in FAR securities stood at ₹3.32 lakh crore on Tuesday, up from ₹3.23 lakh crore on June 3.

FAR allows non-resident investors to invest in specified Government of India dated securities without any investment ceilings.

“We can see the optimism from FPIs who nearly invested 75 per cent of the net purchase in G-secs under FAR category recorded during April & May. It also strengthens India’s case for inclusion in major global bond indices, such as Bloomberg’s sovereign bond index, whose inclusion decision was deferred earlier this year,” said Mataprasad Pandey, vice-president at Arete Capital.

The government on June 5 promulgated an ordinance amending the Income Tax Act to provide tax exemption on interest income and capital gains arising from the sale, exchange or transfer of government securities held by FPIs. The exemption is applicable retrospectively from April 1, 2025.

The move came as the government looked to attract more foreign capital into the domestic debt market and support the rupee amid external pressures.

Currently, foreign investors are subject to a long-term capital gains tax of 12.5 per cent on listed shares and bonds held for more than 12 months, while interest earned on government bonds attracts a withholding tax of 20 per cent.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in its June monetary policy announcement, also expanded the universe of securities available under the FAR by including all new issuances of 15-year, 30-year and 40-year tenor government securities.

The central bank also removed limits related to short-term investment, concentration and individual securities for FPI investments under the general route.

“These measures, along with the tax benefits, provided by the government this morning should help attract foreign capital for government borrowing,” the RBI said during the monetary policy announcement.

The government securities market has been opened further to foreign investors through these measures as India seeks to deepen the bond market and facilitate greater participation from global investors.

Early Warning Signs Of Ovarian Cancer In Women:

IND vs AFG: Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya cleared to play Afghanistan ODIs; Virat Kohli ruled out

India has received a major boost ahead of the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya reportedly nearing full fitness clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru.

Pandya, who was named in India’s squad subject to fitness, has completed an extensive rehabilitation programme after struggling with back spasms during IPL 2026. The injury forced him to miss several matches for Mumbai Indians before he returned later in the tournament.

According to reports, the 32-year-old has responded positively to training and is now expected to be available for selection for the ODI series beginning in Dharamsala.

Hardik Pandya completes rehabilitation programme

Pandya arrived at the CoE on June 2 and underwent fitness assessments as part of his recovery process. During his stay, the seam-bowling all-rounder reportedly participated in batting, bowling and fielding drills, along with match-simulation sessions designed to test his readiness for 50-over cricket.

Sources familiar with the development indicated that Pandya has shown no signs of discomfort and has successfully completed the required workload, including bowling extended spells.

His return comes at an important stage for India as the team begins preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup scheduled to be held in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Rohit Sharma also set to return

Rohit had been recovering from a hamstring injury that forced him to miss several matches during IPL 2026. However he has now completed his rehabilitation programmes at the CoE before undergoing fitness assessments.

According to ANI, sources have confirmed that the duo have cleared the required tests and will soon link up with the Indian team. “Hardik and Rohit are all set to play the ODI series against Afghanistan; both have cleared their fitness test and will soon join the team,” sources told ANI.

Virat Kohli ruled out, Jaiswal called up

India will be without Virat Kohli for the Afghanistan ODIs after the former captain suffered a hamstring injury during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL 2026 title-winning-campaign.

Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named as Kohli’s replacement in the squad. The ODI series between India and Afghanistan will begin in Dharamsala on June 13 before moving to Lucknow on June 17 and Chennai on June 20.

What’s driving Studds Accessories?

Studds Accessories is India’s largest two-wheeler helmet manufacturer and one of the world’s leading helmet and motorcycle accessories brands.

While raw material prices have witnessed an upward trend since March, there are currently no challenges with sourcing or availability of key inputs. To safeguard against rising input costs, the management in the Q4 results said the company has implemented calibrated price hikes across portfolio and distribution channels, averaging around 8–9 per cent.

Rising disposable income, increasing penetration of premium motorcycles, stricter safety regulations and greater consumer awareness towards quality and branded products are supporting structural growth for the organized helmet industry.

The management believes the industry is gradually shifting from an unorganized, price-driven market to a more branded, premium and safety-focused ecosystem, which positions companies like ours very well for the future, the management said. They believe the company is well positioned to continue its growth momentum in the next financial year with an expected revenue growth of around 17 per cent-18 per cent while maintaining EBITDA margins at broadly similar levels.

Equirus Securities view on auto ancillary sector

India’s listed auto ancillary sector revenues’ grew 3x over FY16–26 to ₹5 trillion at 11 per cent compounded annual growth rate (CAGR), but the sector average is a statistical artefact masking a 8–17 per cent range of segment outcomes. Twenty-eight of 52 companies outgrew the sector; 24 did not. The consistent differentiator was not OEM mix or market share — it was the breadth of the revenue base. Companies deploying multiple growth levers simultaneously — acquisitions, new products, new geographies, new customers — outperformed single-lever peers in every cycle the decade delivered, Equirus Securities said in the sector report.

Consensus estimates indicate that FY27 could be a relatively subdued year for profitability across the auto ancillary universe, with margin performance likely to remain sensitive to the trajectory of commodity costs and the evolving geopolitical environment. However, assuming commodity inflation moderates over the medium term, the industry is expected to deliver a healthy earnings recovery thereafter.

Based on current estimates, the auto ancillary sector is projected to report a PAT CAGR of 21 per cent over FY26–FY28E, supported by a 13 per cent revenue CAGR and margin expansion following the softer FY27 earnings environment, the brokerage firm said.
