Brazilian seamer Laura Cardoso scripts world record, first to take 9 wickets in a T20I match

Brazilian bowler Laura Cardoso created history during Brazil’s match against Lesotho in the Kalahari Women’s T20I tournament, as she became the first player in either men’s or women’s senior T20I matches to take nine wickets in a single innings.

The fast bowler took each of her team’s first nine wickets enroute to a monstrous 189-run victory for the Brazilian team, ultimately finishing with figures of 9/4 as Lesotho were bowled out for just 13 in this match in Botswana.

Cardoso outdoes the previous record in T20Is, held by Sonam Yeshey of Bhutan, who took 8/7 in a men’s T20I against Myanmar. She also breaks the women’s T20I record, a scarcely believable spell of 7/0, taken by Indonesian bowler Rohmalia against Mongolia.

Cardoso only bowled three overs of her spell, taking a wicket one nine of her eighteen deliveries. However, with one wicket to spare, Brazil weren’t able to give their bowler a chance to create history by joining the ranks of Jim Laker, Anil Kumble and Ajaz Patel. Marianne Artur would take the 10th and final wicket of the innings.

Of her nine wickets, four were bowled, four came via leg before wicket, and only one was a catch. Her spell also included two maidens.

Cardoso also first to take five in five balls

In her first over, she took a hat-trick, with wickets on each of the last three balls of the second over in Lesotho’s chase. She followed this up with a second over in which she took four wickets – this meant she also took five wickets off five balls in succession across two overs, also becoming the first player to achieve that feat in T20 internationals.

A sixth wicket would follow in the space of seven balls, and then a seventh in the space of nine, as Cardoso managed to snap through the entirety of the batting in a one-sided contest. Cardoso affected seven ducks in the Lesotho batting order, with four of these being golden ducks – only three Lesotho batters were able to score a run, and the entire innings only saw one boundary, by opener Boitumelo Tlali before she was out LBW.

Brazil had earlier put up a score of 202 in their own batting innings, Cardoso batting at number four and scoring 4 runs. This was Brazil’s fifth match in five matches in the tournament, and pushes them to the top of the six-member group stage.

Dianna Russini shocking confession about husband Kevin Goldschmidt surfaces amid Mike Vrabel row; 'problem in marriage'

Notably, both Vrabel and Russini are married to other people. They each have two children with their spouses as well. Vrabel is married to Jen since 1999. Russini, meanwhile, tied the knot with Kevin Goldschmidt in 2020, after reportedly dating since 2015. However, now an old X post from Russini has resurfaced, where she’s made a confession about her husband, the Shake Shack executive, and added that it is a ‘problem’ in their marriage.

What Dianna Russini said about her husband

Russini was commenting on a January 2026 post that was actually about the Philadelphia Eagles. The sports reporter is not a very well liked by many Eagles fans who have faulted her reporting. Most recently, Russini’s reporting on AJ Brown leaving the Eagles drew backlash from the fanbase, as the NFL player stayed on with the team.

The post was about Brian Daboll potentially getting the Offensive Coach job with the Eagles. A fan there tagged Russini in the comments and wrote “can you stop with the fake news bullsh*t your boy Kevin is texting you? Nobody believes anything you say.” The person referred to Russini’s husband by name.

To this, Russini replied that her husband did not text her, going on to admit it was a ‘problem’ in their marriage. “My husband doesn’t text me. It’s a problem in our marriage actually,” she’d said at the time.

While the comment had flown under the radar then, it is getting much more attention now in light of the photos with Vrabel.

“She hate that man,” one person remarked, referring to her husband. Another added “I bet Vrabel is the GOAT at texting.” Yet another remarked “Did you text him a selfie with Vrabel from Sedona?”.

Despite the speculations, all indications are that Russini and Goldschmidt are happily married. Both Vrabel and Russini have issued clarifications after their photos came out. “These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable,” Vrabel told the New York Post. “This doesn’t deserve any further response,” he added. Russini also joined in and said “The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues.”

It features a chulha (a U-shaped mud-and-cow-dung stove) and traditional utensils. Apart from the open kitchen, the farmhouse also houses a large space where desi ghee and other milk products are made, as well as a massive space for making and storing pickles. It won’t be wrong to say that Gaurav Taneja and his family consume everything natural coming directly from the farm.

Aminul Islam-led Bangladesh board booted out after T20 World Cup fiasco, Tamim Iqbal to head ad-hoc committee

Aminul Islam-led Bangladesh board booted out after T20 World Cup fiasco, Tamim Iqbal to head ad-hoc committee

Bangladesh‘s National Sports Council on Tuesday officially dissolved the Aminul Islam-led Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and appointed former captain and opening batter, Tamim Iqbal, as the president of the ad-hoc committee. According to the Daily Star, the development was confirmed by NSC Sports Director Aminul Ehsan, who also presented the report submitted by the council-formed investigation committee. The report had found several irregularities during last year’s BCB elections on October 6.

The official also said the report was shared with the International Cricket Council (ICC), and the Jay Shah-led board was informed of the formation of the 11-member ad-hoc committee. The newly formed committee will also be assigned to hold a new election for the BCB within the next three months.

The 11-member ad hoc committee consists of: Tamim Iqbal (President), Rashna Imam, Miza Yasir Abbas, Syed Ibrahim Ahmed, Israfil Khosru, Minhajul Abedin Nannu, Athar Ali Khan, Tanvir Chowdhury, Salman Ispahani, Rafiqul Islam Babu, and Fahim Sinha.

Islam was at the centre of the T20 World Cup fiasco, after the BCB refused to send the men’s team to India for the 20-team tournament. The entire row erupted after the BCCI ordered the three-time champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), to release pacer Mustafizur Rahman from their squad due to rising tensions between India and Bangladesh.

Once Mustafizur was released, Bangladesh held its ground, demanding that its matches be shifted to Sri Lanka. However, the ICC conducted an independent risk assessment and found no security concerns. However, the BCB chief Islam held his ground, and in the end, Bangladesh were booted out of the tournament and replaced by Scotland in Group C.

Once Bangladesh were shown the door, Pakistan also jumped in, threatening to first boycott the tournament and then refusing to take the field against India. However, neither of these things happened after the ICC delegation gave certain assurances to Bangladesh, such as the hosting rights for one event before 2028, most likely the next U19 World Cup.

Tamim row

During the T20 World Cup row involving Bangladesh, Tamim had urged the BCB to think about the cricketers and participate in the tournament. However, at that time, finance committee chairman M Nazmul Islam accused the former national captain of being an “Indian agent.”

This remark drew a lot of flak from several cricketers in Bangladesh, and the BCB were forced to sack him following the public outcry.

“The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wishes to inform that, following a review of recent developments and in the best interest of the organisation, the BCB President has decided to release Mr Najmul Islam from his responsibilities as Chairman of the Finance Committee with immediate effect,” the board had said in an official release.

Peace plan, talks claims to cuss words: Trump's constant flip-flops amid Iran-US war

Peace plan, talks claims to cuss words: Trump's constant flip-flops amid Iran-US war

Ever since the war between Iran and the US began on February 28, one thing that has been constantly shifting is US President Donald Trump‘s stance and his claims on US victory. It started with Trump’s “we have won” narrative to his latest tweet laced with expletives as he asked Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump, since the beginning of the war, has oscillated between US winning the war, ending the war and the need to attack Iran–the only constant here being his flip-flop in his statements.

For example, at a White House press briefing, Trump said the US doesn’t need the Strait of Hormuz, even after the key energy passage became a point of contention between the two sides.

Earlier, Trump also said negotiations were underway between Iran and the US, a claim that drew a rather sarcastic response from Tehran, with a top Iranian military spokesperson asking Trump if he was negotiating with himself.

Here are some instances of how Trump oscillated between the tough talks and soft stance:

Trump’s expletive-laden post

In a stark social media post on Sunday, Trump said: “Open the f**kin’ Strait, you crazy b****rds, or you’ll be living in Hell.”

A day before his April 6 deadline to Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Trump went all out against Iran and said, “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day”.

While Iran rejected the US peace plan despite Trump’s stark warning, Trump termed Tehran’s counterproposal as a ‘significant proposal’.

“They made a proposal, and it’s a significant proposal. It’s a significant step. It’s not good enough,” Trump told reporters at an annual White House Easter event, referring to Iran.

April 6 deadline extension for Hormuz

Earlier, Trump extended the deadline for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz by 10 days, pushing it to April 6. He said the extension was being granted at the request of the Iranian government, a claim Iran rejected.

“As per the Iranian Government’s request, please let this statement serve to represent that I am pausing the period of Energy Plant destruction by 10 Days to Monday, April 6, 2026, at 8 P.M,” Trump wrote on X.

‘The US doesn’t need Hormuz’

While at one point the entire Middle East conflict centred around Iran’s virtual closure of Hormuz, Trump last week said that the US doesn’t need the strategic energy passage.

Trump was criticising the European allies for not extending ample support to the US in its war against Iran when he made the remark. “We are there to protect Europe from Russia. In theory, it doesn’t affect us; we have a big, fat, beautiful ocean. But we are there to protect NATO, but they are not there to protect us.”

Trump’s praise for Iran

While repeatedly claiming that Iran’s military capabilities have been destroyed to a great extent, Trump on Monday termed Iranians as ‘capable fighters’ and ‘tough people’. “The enemy is strong, not so strong as they were about a month ago. They are not too strong at all right now,” Trump said.

‘Iran blown off the map’

On March 22, Trump claimed that the US had ‘blown Iran off the map’ and that the US had achieved its goals a week ahead of schedule. However, the war continues alongside the Hormuz deadlock.

Punjab BJP HQ blast: 2 key accused who hurled grenade arrested from Rewari

Punjab BJP HQ blast: 2 key accused who hurled grenade arrested from Rewari

The counter-intelligence wing of Punjab Police, in a joint operation with Chandigarh Police and Haryana Police, arrested the two main perpetrators, who lobbed a hand grenade outside the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office in Sector 37, Chandigarh, on April 1, director general of police Gaurav Yadav said on Sunday.

One of the arrested persons

With this, the total number of arrests in the case has risen to seven. Those arrested from Rewari have been identified as Gurtej Singh and Amanpreet Singh, both residents of Rattangarh in Rupnagar, police officials, privy to the probe, said.

The duo was trying to flee to Nepal. Accused Amanpreet Singh has a prior criminal record, with FIRs of theft and snatching registered against him in Mohali and Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh, respectively, the official added.

3 accused worked as bike taxi drivers in UT

According to police, the accused Gurtej, Amanpreet and Mandeep used to work for a ride-hailing company in Chandigarh, and were well-versed about the escape routes.

On Saturday, the CI wing of the Punjab Police, in coordination with the Chandigarh Police, arrested five members of the terror module. The arrested individuals have been identified as Balwinder Lal alias Shami of Majari village in SBS Nagar, Jasvir Singh alias Jassi of Bharapur village in SBS Nagar, Charanjit Singh alias Channi of Sujawalpur village in SBS Nagar, Rubal Chauhan of Thana village in Shimla and Mandeep alias Abhijot Sharma of Dhuri in Sangrur.

“Rubal Chauhan came in touch with the other accused because of friendship. Chauhan is a student and is studying in a leading college in Chandigarh, and picked a grenade from Ropar to drop it on the main accused,” the senior police functionary said, pleading anonymity.

One hand grenade, along with a .30-bore Zigana pistol were recovered from their possession. Preliminary investigation indicates that Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) backed the module, which operated under the direct instructions of handlers based in Portugal and Germany, the DGP said.

Came in contact with foreign-based handlers 6 months ago

According to DGP Yadav, with these latest arrests, all seven accused involved in the case are now in police custody.

“The arrested accused had been motivated and directed by ISI-backed foreign-based handlers, Baljot Singh alias Jot in Portugal and Harjeet Singh Laadi in Germany, and were promised a monetary reward of 2 lakh for carrying out the attack,” Yadav said.

Acting on the directions of their foreign-based handlers, the accused persons coordinated the delivery and execution of the attack, he said, adding that the accused persons used multiple cutouts and sub-modules to execute the attack.

The DGP said that during preliminary questioning, accused Gurtej Singh disclosed that he had come in contact with a foreign-based handler approximately six months ago via a social media platform.

Acting on the handler’s instructions, Gurtej, along with his co-accused Rubal Chauhan and Mandeep, collected the consignment of arms and grenades from Jasvir Singh alias Jassi from Bharapur village in SBS Nagar on March 28 last month, Yadav said, adding that Gurtej subsequently took Amanpreet Singh along to carry out the attack.

The DGP said that on April 1, after conducting a recce, Amanpreet hurled the grenade, while Gurtej recorded the act on his mobile phone at the handler’s behest. Both accused thereafter fled the scene, he said.

The explosion occurred around 5 pm on Wednesday when an explosive device was hurled near the office, officials had said. No casualties were reported. An unverified video that surfaced on social media showed a man pulling the pin from a blue-coloured grenade and throwing it, while another person was recording the act. The duo is seen fleeing just moments before the blast. Their faces were not visible in the 10-second video, and the authenticity of the footage has yet to be verified. CCTV camera recordings also captured suspects running across the road immediately after the explosion. In a separate unverified social media post, attributed to Sukhjinder Singh Babbar of the banned Babbar Khalsa International, the outfit had claimed responsibility for the incident.
