कीर्ति आजाद के ‘विवादित’ बयान पर ईशान किशन ने दिया जवाब, मंदिर में ट्रॉफी ले जाना ठहराया था गलत

Ishan Kishan On Kirti Azad:

ICC punishes Arshdeep Singh after fiery clash with Daryl Mitchell in T20 World Cup 2026 final

ICC punishes Arshdeep Singh after fiery clash with Daryl Mitchell in T20 World Cup 2026 final

Left-arm India pacer Arshdeep Singh has been sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for a heated on-field incident involving New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

The ICC announced on Tuesday that Arshdeep has been fined 15 percent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the high-stakes final, when India posted a formidable 255/5 and went on to win convincingly by 96 runs, claiming the title.

“Arshdeep was found to have breached Article 2.9 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to “throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner during an International Match,” the ICC said in statement on Tuesday.

“In addition to this, one demerit point has been added to Arshdeep’s disciplinary record, for whom it was the first offence in a 24-month period,” it added.

The Incident: 11th Over Fireworks

The incident occurred in the 11th over of New Zealand’s innings. After Mitchell had struck Arshdeep for successive boundaries, the bowler fielded a ball on his follow-through and hurled it back toward the striker’s end.

Though Mitchell was well within his crease, the throw struck him directly on the pads/thigh. The Kiwi vice-captain reacted furiously, leading to a tense standoff that required India captain Suryakumar Yadav and the on-field umpires to intervene.

No Formal Hearing Required

Arshdeep accepted the sanction proposed by Andy Pycroft of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, so there was no need for a formal hearing. On-field umpires Richard Illingworth and Alex Wharf, third umpire Allahuddien Paleker and fourth umpire Adrian Holdstock levelled the charge.

Notably, Level 1 breach carries a minimum penalty of an official reprimand, a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee, and one or two demerit points. When a player reaches four or more demerit points within a 24-month period, they are converted into suspension points and a player is banned.

All Is Well Between Mitchell And Arshdeep

While the initial moment was tense, Arshdeep Singh was seen apologizing to Daryl Mitchell immediately after the over and again during the post-match celebrations.

In a light-hearted interview with Harsha Bhogle after the trophy presentation, Arshdeep joked about his “unintentional” accuracy.

“I just went to apologize to Mitchell. My throw reverse-swung a bit too much and hit him, so I just wanted to say sorry. It was not intentional,” said India pacer.

‘I just wish you were here with me’: Rinku Singh pens heartfelt post, pays emotional tribute to late father after World Cup win

India’s star batter Rinku Singh has penned down an emotional tribute to his late father Khanchand Singh, who passed away on February 27 in Greater Noida, due to prolonged illness.

Rinku attended his father’s funeral after India’s T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8s match against Zimbabwe, before joining the squad in Kolkata for the crucial must-win match against the West Indies in the Super 8s stage.

In a heartfelt post after India’s T20 World Cup 2026 victory, Rinku said that even a single day without speaking to his father felt incomplete, and he struggles to imagine life ahead without him.

“I have never spent so many days without talking to you. I don’t know how life will move forward without you… But I know I will need you at every step,” he wrote in a post on Instagram. “You always taught me that duty comes first, so on the field I was only trying to fulfil your dream. Now that your dream has been fulfilled… I just wish you were here with me. I will feel your absence in every small and big moment of happiness. I will miss you a lot, Papa,”

Meanwhile, Rinku played just five matches for India in the T20 World Cup, where he struggled for runs and scored just 24, including a duck against South Africa at the Narendra Modi Stadium in the Super 8s, which came at a crucial phase.

After the loss against the proteas Rinku was dropped from the team, and Sanju Samson came in place of the finisher. The move brought good results for the team as Sanju played back-to-back match-winning knocks in Super 8s, the semi-final and the final.

IPL 2026 schedule delay: BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia shares crucial update, reveals likely date

The much-anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is officially set to kick off on March 28 with the final tentatively set for May 31, Star Sports, the official broadcasters of the cash-rich tournament confirmed recently.

In keeping with IPL tradition, the defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are expected to feature in the season opener. After ending their 18-year trophy drought last season by defeating Punjab Kings, RCB will return to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to begin their title defense.

However, there has been a delay in the announcement of IPL 2026 full schedule. This delay from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has left fans, franchises and players in limbo.

BCCI Secretary Breaks Silence On IPL 2026 Schedule

BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has finally addressed the growing anticipation and frustration surrounding the delayed announcement of the IPL 2026 schedule, providing clarity on the timeline. The 56-year-old revealed that the board will unveil the fixtures for the first 20 days of the tournament by March 12.

“We plan to announce the IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. For now, we are going to announce the IPL schedule for the first 20 days,” Saikia told IANS on Tuesday.

The decision to release a partial schedule mirrors the strategy used in previous election years to ensure no logistical clashes with state assembly polls.

Reason For IPL 2026 Schedule Announcement Delay

The most significant factor contributing to the postponement of IPL 2026 schedule release is the upcoming Assembly Elections in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Assam.

These elections are expected to occur in April and May, directly coinciding with the IPL’s timeline. States like West Bengal (home to Kolkata Knight Riders and Eden Gardens), Tamil Nadu (Chennai Super Kings and MA Chidambaram Stadium), and Assam (where Rajasthan Royals host some matches at Barsapara Stadium) are critical IPL hubs.

During elections, local police and security forces are heavily involved in polling duties, which could lead to shortages for IPL matches. This might force venue changes, disrupt team travel, and complicate logistics for broadcasters and fans. That’s why the BCCI is awaiting official polling dates from the Election Commission before finalizing IPL 2026 fixtures.

BCCI announces massive Rs 131 crore cash reward for Team India after T20 World Cup victory

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has declared a massive cash reward of Rs. 131 crore for the Indian Team after their victorious run in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

The Men in Blue, who defended their T20 World Cup title at home, becoming the first team to do so, received Rs. 125 crore in 2024 following their victory in the prestigious tournament. The BCCI’s cash reward increased by six crore rupees from 2024, when Rohit Sharma led the side to their first win since the inaugural edition.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of INR 131 crore for Team India following their triumphant campaign in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Board congratulates the players, support staff and selectors once again on this historic achievement and wishes them continued success in the future,” the BCCI said in their statement.

By successfully defending the title, India became the first team in the history of the tournament to retain the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. With this victory, India also became the first team to win the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup thrice and also the first team to win it at home.

Led by Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian side also received a substantial financial reward from the International Cricket Council (ICC) after their title triumph. After registering a commanding 96-run victory over New Zealand in the final, India claimed the winner’s purse of USD 2.34 million (approximately Rs 21.5 crore) awarded by the International Cricket Council. The runners-up, New Zealand, received USD 1.17 million (around Rs 10.75 crore).

The hosts dominated the title clash from the very beginning, piling up a record total of 253 for five in a World T20 final. The innings was powered by a blistering 89 from Sanju Samson, which set the tone for India’s commanding performance.

India’s bowlers then sealed the triumph in emphatic fashion, with Jasprit Bumrah producing a sensational spell of four wickets for 14 runs, his best figures in the format. The comprehensive win secured India their third ICC Men’s T20 World Cup crown and made them the first team to retain the title while also winning it on home soil.

Samson finished the tournament as the Player of the Series after scoring 321 runs in just five innings, while Bumrah was named Player of the Match for his decisive performance in the final.
