India’s 5G technology is completely indigenous, says FM Sitharaman

India’s 5G technology is completely indigenous, says FM Sitharaman

In a remarkable revelation, Finance Minister on Thursday said that the 5G technology in India is completely indigenous, one that is not imported from somewhere else and is the country’s own product.

“The story is yet to reach the public. The 5G which we have launched in our country is completely indigenous, standalone. There could be some critical parts coming from countries like Korea, but certainly not from somebody else…,” Sitharaman said at the John Hopkins University event in Washington.

She said India can now provide 5G technology to other countries whoever wants it. “Our 5G is not imported from somewhere else and it’s our own product. The spread of this is very rapid.”

Sitharaman said the private companies that have made this product have said by 2024 end most of the country will be able to avail of this technology. “On 5G we can be immensely proud of India’s achievement.”

Ushering in a new technological era, Prime Minister launched 5G services this month.

Industry leaders expressed their views on this historic occasion. The three major telecom operators of the country demonstrated one use case each in front of the Prime Minister to show the potential of 5G technology in India.

Addressing the gathering the Prime Minister said that the Summit might be global but its repercussions and directions are local.

“Today, 130 crore Indians are getting a wonderful gift in the form of 5G from the country and from the telecom industry of the country. 5G is a knock on the doors of a new era in the country. “5G is the beginning of an infinite sky of opportunities. I congratulate every Indian for this”, he added.

He noted with satisfaction that in this launch of 5G and the march of technology, rural areas and workers are equal partners.

Stressing one more message of the 5G launch, the Prime Minister said” New India will not remain a mere consumer of technology, but India will play an active role in the development and implementation of that technology. India will play a big role in designing the future wireless technology, and manufacturing related to it.

The Prime Minister pointed out that India was dependent on other countries for 2G, 3G and 4G technologies. But with 5G, India has created a new history, he said.

Samsung, Google to offer support for each other’s smart home ecosystems

Samsung, Google to offer support for each other’s smart home ecosystems

Over the years, even though smart devices have gained traction, there exist compatibility issues between brands that ultimately cause headaches for users.

According to GSM Arena, with the Matter protocol aiming to make it easier to control a smart home that has a mix of devices from different makers, a major step forward towards that goal has now been announced.

In order to resolve compatibility problems, and have agreed to build a bridge between SmartThings and Home devices.

That bridge is built on Matter’s multi-admin feature, which allows different apps to connect to one or more devices and control them.

This means that a device set up in Home will also appear in the SmartThings app and vice versa, so users no longer have to remember which app controls the lights and which controls the smart speakers, reported GSM Arena.

This will also free users up to buy the smart device they want rather than looking for one that uses the same app/ecosystem as the rest of their smart home.

As long as a device supports the Matter protocol, users will be able to control and automate it with either Samsung’s SmartThings or Google’s Home, whichever app they prefer.

Google and are not the only supporters of Matter as the list includes Amazon, Ikea, LG, Midea, Tuya and several others, as per GSM Arena.

Netflix announces launch of ad-supported tier plan at .99 on November 3

Netflix announces launch of ad-supported tier plan at $6.99 on November 3

American subscription-based streaming service Netflix, starting in November, will finally roll out its new ad-supported tier for just a few bucks a month.

According to The Verge, this announcement is yet another sign that the one-time disruptive upstart streaming service has slowly become a cable package by another name.

The company announced that its new Basic with Ads tier plan will be available for USD 6.99 on November 3, 2022, in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

The Verge reported that in exchange for making users watch an average of four to five minutes of ads per hour, the Basic with Ads plan gives subscribers access to a large portion of Netflix’s programming.

However, not the full catalogue will be available as a small selection of television shows and movies will not be available to Basic with Ads subscribers due to licensing restrictions that says it’s currently working on.

Each advertisement will last between 15 and 30 seconds and will appear before and during programmes. Basic with Ads subscribers will also be unable to download content to their devices, and video quality will be limited to 720p / HD, reported The Verge.

During a press conference announcing the new tier, described it as “pro-consumer” and explained how its internal content tagging teams were tasked with finding natural breakpoints in various shows and films to place commercials in.

Netflix’s ad tier arrives in response to a sudden slump for the streamer, which lost over 1 million subscribers in the US and Canada earlier this year and has seen its stock price plunge in response to investor concerns that its period of rapid growth has ended, as per The Verge.

Some AirPods Pro 2 users complain of audio drift, syncing issues: Report

Some AirPods Pro 2 users complain of audio drift, syncing issues: Report

Some Pro 2 users have reportedly raised complaints about an annoying audio drifting problem that persists even when Apple’s capabilities like dynamic head tracking and spatial audio are turned off.

According to 9To5Mac, audio drifting is an issue with headphones where the sound shifts between each side of the two earbuds.

In addition to switching back and forth between earbuds, the audio can sometimes fall out of sync with videos. In this case, the speaker in the video’s audio would not line up with their mouth.

Affected users say they are experiencing a combination of audio drifting and shifting, as well as volume levels randomly increasing or decreasing.

“This is my second pair of Pro 2, and the audio still seems to shift/drift all over the place. Sometimes it can compress the volume of a song and then randomly raise the volume,” a user wrote on Reddit.

“No, it’s not head tracking or spatial audio. I have turned those off,” the user added.

Meanwhile, recently, Pro 2 users received a bug alert telling them to “replace” their battery soon.

When the AirPods Pro earbuds or MagSafe Charging Case battery was low, the bug appeared to cause battery replacement notifications to be sent from the Find My app to adjacent devices.

The notifications urged users to “replace the battery on… soon,” even though it is impossible to replace AirPods batteries, and the device needs to be recharged.

Pixel 7 series: Guided frame to Unblur, details of Google’s camera upgrades

Pixel 7 series: Guided frame to Unblur, details of Google’s camera upgrades

The Pixel 7 series are now available for purchase in India on the e-commerce platform . Announced earlier this month, the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are priced at Rs 59,999 and Rs 84,999, respectively. The phones were initially available for pre-orders in India with introductory limited-period cashback offers of Rs 6,000 on the Pixel 7 and Rs 8,500 on the Pixel 7 Pro. Besides, there was offering select products at discounted price on the pre-orders. While the pre-order offers are now over, is now offering instant cashback of up to Rs 15,000 to customers. Price and offers detail aside, here are details of the camera upgrades that the Pixel 7 series brings:

Real Tone

says the Pixel 7 series captures photos with accurate skin tones. The cameras on the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro are tuned based on the insights gathered from a dataset of 10,000 diverse portraits to make it inclusive.

Guided Frame

An accessibility feature, the guide frame for selfies is for blind people or people with low-vision. It helps users find a perfect angle for a selfie by guiding them with audio cues and haptic feedback.

Photo Unblur

A new addition in Photos, the Photo Unblur feature is exclusive to Pixel 7 series. It allows users to unblur the blurry pictures using Google Photos service. Importantly, it works even with photos clicked on a different camera.

Night Sight

With Tensor G2, the Pixel 7 series not just takes night light pictures quicker but also with better clarity and details. Google says its machine learning algorithms reduce the unwanted motion blur in low-light conditions, producing low light images with the same amount of clarity.

Cinematic Blur

It uses similar technology as portrait mode to blur the background in videos to keep the audience’s attention on the subject. On top, there is support for 10-bit HDR video in the Pixel 7 series.

Super Resolution Zoom

Super Resolution Zoom is available in both Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. It crops in on the 50-megapixel primary sensor images to create 12.5MP photos at 2x zoom. Google says the picture clicked at 2x zoom is similar to what a 2x telephoto camera would capture, with low noise and high resolution.

Optical Zoom

On the Pixel 7 Pro, the new 48-megapixel telephoto camera kicks in at 5x zoom, and Super Res Zoom creates 12-megapixel photos at 10x, which look similar to 10x optical zoom camera. At 15x and beyond, users can take clear pictures with Zoom Stabilisation. At 20x, the Google Tensor powers a new machine learning that increases the photo’s resolution, resulting in zooming photos up to 30x on Pixel 7 Pro.

Macro Focus

Limited to the Pixel 7 Pro, the macro focus feature uses the ultra-wide-angle lens to capture close-up shots (subject as close as 3cm).
