Dynamic Spot app brings Apple’s Dynamic Island-like interface on Android

After Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max were released earlier in September with a Dynamic Island feature, app developer Jawomo launched “DynamicSpot” for Android users.

Since the launch, Dynamic Island has received both praise and critique. The app aims to bring a unique and clever notification experience for android users.

Dynamic Island is designed to provide information, such as AirPods connection, charge, etc. It will also feature a tiny thumbnail of the album art from Apple Music, showing when Apple Pay is being accessed or when the do-not-disturb mode is turned on.

According to media reports, the developer’s latest app is in beta. It features some of the best parts of Apple’s Dynamic Island but also offers customisation options. You will be able to set up what kind of notifications show up on your screen, and you will also have the option of changing the look of DynamicSpot, including its position, size, and how rounded the edges look. The users will also be given an option to have it show two pop-up notifications as and when they come in.

For users concerned about its functionality, DynamicSpot has a pro option, which will come in at $4.99. The paid version of the app will unveil new features for the users, such as giving them the ability to show the DynamicSpot on the lock screen and gaining access to a single tap and long press actions.

Jawomo is a long-time developer responsible for the AOD notification light apps for Samsung and OnePlus devices and the Bixby button remapper.

However, it is essential to note that the app is still in beta, so everything will not be perfect. The developer has shared that animations might not consistently be smooth, and there could also be some compatibility issues. The beta is available for testing in the Google Play Store.

Amazon Great Indian Festival goes live; check what’s new this year here

The Amazon Great Indian Festival is now live. For Prime users, the sale started a day earlier on September 22. Other users can now buy various items at attractive discounts.

Apple’s Chinese vendors to soon be allowed to set up plants in India

Apple’s Chinese vendors may soon be allowed to set up manufacturing plants in India by the government. The move will be finalised if Apple assures the government that it has no other option for sourcing components, a report by Economic Times (ET) said.

Sources told ET that the government is open to investments by Chinese entities that promote technology and production capabilities if there are no alternatives available.

ET also added that the manufacturers would be required to import components if there are some concerns around the vendor and no other alternatives are available. The government may also ask the manufacturers to transfer the technology to local manufacturing.

Lately, the government has been asking Apple to set up its manufacturing plants in India. Since the launch of the iPhone 14, the company has been scaling up its production capacity in India, shifting from China.

The December quarter might mark Apple’s highest-ever shipment of iPhones to India at around 570,000 units compared with 370,000 units in 2021, according to experts.

In April 2020, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), amended the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) rules to add that companies from countries sharing a land border with India will need a prior nod from the government.

With these changes, any foreign direct investment from Bangladesh, China, Pakistan, Nepal, Myanmar, Bhutan, and Afghanistan now requires prior government approval, irrespective of the FDI cap applicable to the sector.
