Google Cloud on Thursday said it has partnered with IT firm Wipro to integrate Gemini Code Assist into the latter’s development workflows.
Gemini Code Assist is an AI-powered collaborator that helps developers write, review, and debug code more efficiently.
This collaboration will enhance developer productivity, improve code quality, and encourage innovation, a company statement said.
“At Wipro we are using conversational AI/Gen AI technology to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, and quality of the work done by associates on an individual basis. Tools like Google Cloud’s Gemini Code Assist will significantly enhance first party productivity among our developers enabling them to deliver higher quality solutions more efficiently,” Wipro Limited Chief Information Officer Anup Purohit said.
Integrating Gemini Code Assist will accelerate development cycles, reduce errors, and enable developers to focus on higher-level problem-solving, the statement said.

Mukesh Ambani on Thursday announced that the company will make efforts to ‘democratise’ artificial intelligence (AI) by building AI-ready data centres in Gujarat’s Jamnagar.
During his address at the 47th annual general meeting (AGM), Ambani said that under Reliance’s telecom arm Jio’s ‘AI everywhere for everyone’ vision, the company plans to offer AI and related services to Indians at affordable prices.
“To achieve this, we are laying the groundwork for a truly national AI infrastructure. We plan to establish gigawatt-scale AI-ready data centres in Jamnagar, powered entirely by Reliance’s green energy, reflecting our commitment to sustainability…,” Ambani said.
“This will make AI applications in India more affordable than anywhere else, making AI accessible to all,” he added.
As part of the ‘AI everywhere for everyone’ vision, Ambani announced Jio ‘AI-Cloud Welcome’ offer for Jio users, in which customers will be offered 100 GB of free cloud storage. The offer will be rolled out during the festival of Deepavali.
Jamnagar holds special significance for the Ambani family as the place where Mukesh Ambani’s father, Dhirubhai Ambani, began their business. It is also the birthplace of Kokilaben Ambani, Mukesh Ambani’s mother.
During the address, Ambani also shared Reliance’s plans to transform Jamnagar into the “energy capital of the world.” He said that by 2025, Jamnagar will be at the heart of Reliance’s New Energy business as he referred to the Dhirubhai Ambani Green Energy Giga Manufacturing Complex. The company plans to invest Rs 75,000 crore to create one of the largest integrated renewable energy manufacturing facilities, which will be spread over 5,000 acres in Jamnagar.
At the event, Ambani hailed India as a driving force in global trade and said that Reliance was committed to national interests. We are not in the business of hoarding wealth but creating wealth and energy security for India, he said.

Google is now offering Gemini subscribers the ability to create custom chatbots called Gems. These chatbots can be personalised with different characteristics through specific instructions. Users simply need to name the chatbot, provide it with instructions, and start using it.
“You can create and save Gems to customize responses in Gemini Apps to your specific needs,” said Google.
For users who prefer not to create a personalised chatbot, Google’s pre-made Gems will be available. Customised chatbots are particularly useful for repetitive tasks, as they eliminate the need to provide instructions separately each time.
Gems were first introduced by Google during its I/O event in May and are now rolling out to Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business, and Gemini Enterprise users on both mobile and desktop. The Gems feature is paid and available in over 150 countries and more than 30 languages.
Google’s introduction of Gems appears to be a move to keep up with OpenAI, which last year announced custom GPTs accessible through the GPT Store, allowing users to create their own personalised GPTs.
Google has noted that Gems cannot be used to generate images and are not compatible with Gemini Live.
Google resumes image generation with Gemini AI chatbot
Google has also resumed offering users the ability to generate images of people using its Gemini AI chatbot. Google announced on its blog that it will release an early access version of this feature to Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users in English in the coming days. Google’s AI text-to-image generator, Imagen 3, was launched earlier this month and will be available on Gemini across all languages.
Google had previously stopped allowing Gemini to generate images of people after it produced historically inaccurate images. The resumption of image generation on Gemini will be powered by an upgraded Imagen 3 with built-in safety measures.

With dependence on technology rising, cybersecurity issues are the biggest concern for the mutual fund (MF) industry, said Nithin Kamath, founder and CEO of Zerodha.
Kamath was speaking at a panel discussion on leveraging technology and innovation for the growth of the mutual fund industry at the Global Fintech Fest here.
When asked about his wishlist from the regulator, Kamath said efforts could be taken to make it easier for non-resident Indians (NRIs) to invest in mutual funds.
On adopting free and open source software (FOSS) in mutual funds, Kamath said it is difficult to use open source in Asset Management Company (AMC) business, unlike broking.
He said the MF industry’s growth is robust, and the outlook will hinge on the market trajectory.
”If markets do well, it will. The MF industry will grow faster,” said Kamath.
Discussing the evolving nature of cybersecurity risks in the MF industry, Anuj Kumar, managing director of Computer Age Management Services (CAMS), noted that the majority of MF product users now access their investments through digital mediums. This shift has led to a change in the nature of security challenges.
“In a lot of systems, the summary of an account is based on Permanent Account Number (PAN) and phone number. If somebody has access to your phone and accesses your one-time password (OTP) or hack the phone in some manner, he has taken virtual control of everything,’ said Kumar
Nilesh Shah, managing director of Kotak Mahindra Asset Management Company, said the industry should leverage technology so that those not so digitally savvy are excluded and digital frauds are minimised.
”Everyone is not digitally smart. The system should be such that a young person and a 75-year-old who wants to speak to his mutual fund distributor before he makes his investment choices feel included,” Shah said.
He said WhatsApp groups are being created in the name of fund managers to dupe gullible investors.
“Every other day, we are filing complaints in the cyber cell against impostors. We need to ensure that this digital trapping does not happen,” he said.

Apple Music and YouTube Music

Apple has announced that users can now transfer playlists from Apple Music to YouTube Music. While third-party apps have previously allowed data transfer between audio streaming platforms, this is the first time Apple has added native support for this functionality. Apple has also released a support document detailing the process of shifting playlists from Apple Music to YouTube Music.
Apple Music to YouTube Music: What can be transferred
Apple stated that when you transfer playlists to YouTube Music, they are not deleted from your Apple Music account. You can only transfer playlists that you have created, including collaborative playlists that you own. Non-collaborative shared playlists and curated playlists cannot be transferred.
As actual music files are not transferred, the shifted playlists will only include songs that are available on YouTube Music. Audio files such as podcasts, audiobooks, and user-uploaded tracks within a playlist will not be transferred.
Apple Music to YouTube Music: How to transfer playlists

To transfer playlists, you need an active Apple Music subscription and a YouTube Music account.

To start the transfer process, visit Apple’s Data and Privacy page (privacy.apple.com) and sign in with your Apple ID.

Select the “Transfer a copy of your data” option and follow the on-screen instructions to start the data transfer to YouTube Music.

Sign in to the YouTube Music account to which you want to transfer your data.

Apple will send a notification to the email ID associated with your Apple ID when the transfer process begins and when it is completed.

You can also check the transfer progress on Apple’s Data and Privacy page.
Once the transfer process is completed, your playlist from Apple Music will appear in the YouTube Music Library. If the transfer is cancelled midway, playlists that have already been transferred will still appear in YouTube Music.

Jio will introduce the “AI Cloud Welcome Offer” this Diwali to make
artificial intelligence accessible to everyone, announced Reliance Industries’ chairman Mukesh Ambani at the company’s annual general meeting on August 29. The new service will provide up to 100GB of free cloud storage for users and include data-powered AI services.
Reliance stated that it is developing a suite of AI-powered services collectively called JioAI. Among the first services to roll out will be JioPhone Call AI, a feature that allows users to record calls and move them to the Jio Cloud for transcription, summarisation, and translation. Users can activate recording by pressing 1 during a call and stop the process by pressing 2. All data is stored on Jio Cloud. Since the processing is done in the cloud, this AI feature will be supported even on budget phones, including JioBharat feature phones.
JioTV OS and Jio TV+
Jio also introduced JioTV OS, a proprietary operating system for Jio set-top boxes. The platform will support UltraHD content and integrate Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technologies. Moreover, the OS will support the Hello Jio voice assistant, accessible via the Jio remote. According to Reliance, Hello Jio uses generative AI to enable users to launch apps, find specific movies, and control the set-top box using voice commands. JioTV OS supports a range of smart home (IoT) devices with JioHome IoT solutions integration, which is also available as an app for smartphones. For access to apps, JioTV OS will include the JioStore App Store.
Alongside the JioTV OS, Reliance announced the Jio TV+ service, which combines apps, OTT platforms, live TV channels, on-demand movies, and shows into a single interface. Reliance stated that the TV+ service is designed for easy switching between channels and provides personalised content suggestions based on viewing habits. It will also feature a play/pause function for live channels and options for sharing content with friends.
