Nothing’s recently launched wireless earbuds CMF Buds are now available for purchase in India. The earbuds feature active noise cancellation (ANC) technology, which the company said reduces noise (up to 42dB) across a frequency bandwidth of up to 2900Hz. Additionally, the buds support a transparency mode, allowing the user to hear the ambient sounds from the environment.

Apple is set to open up its iOS ecosystem in the European Union to comply with new laws under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). In a document highlighting how Apple plans to comply with new rules in the region, the company announced that it plans to make changes to its user data portability offering as well. This essentially means that the company is working on improving migration solutions that help users transfer data between devices with different operating systems.
“Apple is developing a solution that helps mobile operating system providers develop more user-friendly solutions to transfer data from an iPhone to a non-Apple phone,” the company stated. Furthermore, the company said, third parties already offer the functionality of transferring data between different OS platforms and Apple plans to “build on those options”. The company added that it aims to make this solution available by fall, next year.

In addition to this, Apple announced that it is also developing a browser switching solution for iOS devices, which will allow iPhone users to export and import “relevant browser data” into another browser on the same device. Apple plans to release this functionality in the public domain earliest by late 2024.

Google already offers an iOS app named “Switch to Android” for transferring data from an iPhone to an Android smartphone. However, Google in its app support says that some data such as paid apps, browser bookmarks and miscellaneous files cannot be transferred to an Android smartphone from an iPhone. It is expected that Apple’s upcoming migration solution will provide an option to carry these data over to a new phone with different OS.

Microsoft has confirmed a digital event later this month named “New Era of Work”. The event is scheduled for March 21 at 9AM PT (10:30 PM IST). Microsoft in a press note said that the company will reveal its latest advancements in implementing AI into the “environment” with Copilot, Windows and Surface.
Although there is no official confirmation, Microsoft is likely to launch work-focused new Surface laptops at the event. According to media reports, Microsoft would launch the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 on March 21. Additionally, the company may announce new features coming to Windows platform with its annual OS update.

According to reports, the Surface Laptop 6 will likely go through a redesign. The upcoming laptop from the Surface series will likely include thinner display bezels, rounded corners and a haptic touchpad. The Surface Pro 10 will likely retain the design language of its predecessor. However, Microsoft may equip the device with an upgraded anti-reflective OLED display with support for HDR content.

According to a report by Windows Central, Microsoft internally refers to ARM devices powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon X-series chips as ‘CADMUS’ PCs and believes that it can compete with Apple Silicon powered devices with similar battery life, performance and security.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hailed the government’s nod to the India AI Mission as a landmark for technology and innovation.
The Cabinet has approved the mission with an outlay of Rs 10,372 crore for five years to encourage the development of artificial intelligence in the country. The approved corpus will be used to build a high-end scalable AI ecosystem in public-private partnership mode.
“A landmark day for tech and innovation! The Cabinet’s approval for the IndiaAI Mission will empower AI startups and expand access to compute infrastructure, marking a giant leap in our journey towards becoming a global leader in AI innovation,” he said on X.
Reacting to other Cabinet decisions, Modi said the extension of Rs 300 per LPG cylinder subsidy to poor women under the Ujjwala Yojana for the next fiscal is an important step which will benefit women and ensure smoke-free kitchens.
The government on Thursday also raised the minimum support price (MSP) for raw jute by Rs 285 to Rs 5,335 per quintal for the 2024-25 season.
The decision to fix the MSP of raw jute (TDN-3 equivalent to earlier TD-5 grade) was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said.
Modi said his government is committed to the welfare of farmers and the decision will help them in many states, including West Bengal.
Reacting to the Rs 10,037-crore new industrial development scheme, UNNATI, for eight northeastern states, he said the Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialisation Scheme will enhance the growth trajectory of the region and create many opportunities for the youth.

PFRDA Chairperson Deepak Mohanty on Thursday launched a web application developed by Zerodha Broking Limited to provide easy access to NPS for subscribers.
The app offers seamless access to NPS to a wider subscriber base, the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) said in a statement.
Mohanty said that there is merit in joining NPS at a young age to harness the benefit of compounding.
NPS provides continuity to retirement saving accounts irrespective of one’s employment status and is available for non-resident Indians (NRIs), it said.
As youngsters are tech savvy, the facilitation by Zerodha Broking Limited would expand access to NPS, it added.
