Apple may begin mass production of AR headset in March next year: Reports

Apple is reportedly planning to start mass production of its AR (augmented reality)-MR (mixed reality) headsets from March next year.

The iPhone maker is “moving forward on development” of its MR headset and Pegatron is the sole partner for the final assembly, reports MacRumors.

The mass production of the headset will probably start in March 2023 and may be unveiled in the following month.

The initial production is rumoured to be very limited with a high price tag, which will restrict the tech giant’s first headset mainly to commercial customers.

Despite the headset’s low profitability, the tech giant’s manufacturing partners are reportedly prepared to collaborate with the company on the project to demonstrate their technical skill and position themselves for future AR and VR (virtual reality) devices, the report said.

In June this year, it was reported that the company might release its AR-MR headset in January next year.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had said that the vast potential demand in the Chinese market and “Apple AR/MR, which would likely release in January 2023, would also favour the continued rapid growth of the headset sector”.

“Although Apple had repeatedly reiterated its focus on AR, I believe Apple AR/MR supporting video see-thru could also offer an excellent immersive experience,” Kuo had predicted.

Nintendo partners with DeNA to strengthen digital games, services

Nintendo partners with DeNA to strengthen digital games, services

Japanese gaming giant has announced a joint venture with mobile company DeNA to establish a new firm called Systems Co., Ltd, which is set to launch in April 2023.

According to The Verge, DeNA co-developed several titles for iOS and Android, including Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Mario Kart Tour.

Nintendo said that the partnership will “strengthen the digitalisation” of its business which has already been incredibly successful for the company.

The gaming giant first partnered with DeNA in 2015.

Since 2019, Nintendo hasn’t released a new mobile game with DeNA. The most recent was “Pikmin Bloom”, which was launched on Android and iOS in partnership with Pokemon Go developers Niantic.

As noted by Sensor Tower, the company reached $5.3 million in revenue in the six months following its release.

However, Nintendo’s earnings report showed that its mobile and IP-related sales dropped by 7.5 per cent year over year, according to the report.

As the company works “to deliver as many consoles as possible to consumers in every region of the world”, Nintendo will probably have a strong holiday season even with a slowdown in hardware and mobile gaming sales.

It also released Bayonetta 3 last month, while Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will be available on November 18, said the report.

Until now, the social media managers, creators and businesses used to depend on third-party apps, Meta Business Suite or Creator Studio to schedule posts on . Although the new scheduling tool is available only to professional accounts, anyone can upgrade for free their standard account to professional account from the account settings.

Besides enabling scheduled posts, the tool allows users to reschedule posts. Creators can see the scheduled post in the ‘Scheduled Content’ section, accessible via the hamburger menu, which is present at the top right corner on the Instagram profile page.

Creators will be notified about the unlocked achievement through notification, which they can see by clicking on the ‘View’ option in the notification. Apple may introduce ‘Custom Accessibility’ feature in iOS 16.2 update

Apple may introduce ‘Custom Accessibility’ feature in iOS 16.2 update

Apple has started working on a new ‘Custom Accessibility’ mode for iOS 16.2 to provide a streamlined user experience.

The new mode will substitute a more streamlined interface for Springboard, which is the primary iOS interface, reports 9To5Mac.

The mode is still unavailable to users as it is currently in beta. It aims to make the iPhone and iPad interface more user-friendly for those users who might find it too complicated.

‘Custom Accessibility’ mode is a “customisable, streamlined way to use your iPhone and iPad”, according to Apple’s internal description.

Users will be able to navigate the system with certain restrictions in the ‘Custom Accessibility’ mode.

However, it is still unclear if the users will be able to utilise this mode with the update’s official release or with a future version of iOS.

Earlier, the tech giant had added News integration for regional weather stories to the Weather app in the beta release of iOS 16.2.

With this feature, users get to see updates on the weather in their area, i.e. users would find a link to an article in the Apple News section that would show the updates on weather conditions in their areas.
