Dr. Agarwal’s Institute of Optometry (DAIO) has signed an MoU with VIT Chennai to collaborate on AI-based innovations in eye care.
The MoU was signed by Dr. D. Karpagam, Dean of DAIO, and Dr. T. Thyagarajan, Pro Vice-Chancellor of VIT Chennai, to promote interdisciplinary research and real-world learning. The partnership aims to develop AI-powered solutions, next-generation diagnostic tools, and clinical training and innovation in optometry.
As per the MoU, students from both institutions will jointly work on research, publish interdisciplinary studies, and develop AI-driven eye care solutions. DAIO will provide VIT students from Computer Science, AI, Electronics, Mechanical, and Mechatronics real-world exposure to clinical challenges while supporting joint PoC projects with expert guidance to turn ideas into market-ready innovations.
Over 200 optometry students and hundreds of VIT students from Computer Science, AI, and engineering streams will work jointly on research projects, diagnostics, and product development, according to a statement.
