The Google Cloud India AI Hub being set up in Tarluvada, will be inaugurated in September 2028, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said.
Speaking after laying the foundation stone for $15 billion data centre being set up in association with AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel here on Tuesday, Naidu said Visakhapatnam was the best destination for data centres.
“AP is not focused on MoUs but also on grounding them perfectly,” he said.
The new Google centre will create thousands of jobs, he added. “North Andhra which was known for migration of people for jobs, will now become a destination for migration from other regions for employment,” Naidu said. Referring to the requirement for the data centres, he said: “There is nothing to worry about water in the region. The Godavari waters are coming to Anakapalli.
Naidu said the Government would further collaborate with Google in others areas as well.
With many other investment projects across energy, IT, ports and core manufacturing, Visakhapatnam will be the best destination for all, he added. Inviting investors to the State, the Chief Minister said: “Your investments will be safe here.”
Appreciating IT Minister for his active role in securing Google Data centre investment in the State, he said: “I am delegating more powers to him.”
Union Minister for IT and Railways Ashwin Vaishnaw asked Google to take up manufacturing servers in India. There were many companies in India which are manufacturing servers needed for data centres.
Out of 10 semiconductor plants being set up as part of the Semiconductor Mission, two had already started and two more will begin production in this year, he said.
India has already emerged as a leader in IT services and is now rapidly advancing in electronics manufacturing and the country should emerge as a global hub in key technology sectors such as Semiconductors, Quantum, Space, and Artificial intelligence.
With the upcoming new AI hub, Visakhapatnam will evolve into AI Patnam(AI City), driven by cutting-edge infrastructure and global investments
“We are happy to collaborate in improving power efficiency. Efficiency in water consumption is essential. Whatever possible from the government will fully support reduction in water,” he said.
AP Minister for Information Technology, Nara Lokesh said Google would now be an integral part of the Vizag. “Today is an auspicious day which will change of the face of the city. Till now, Visakhapatnam is only steel city but now onwards will be known as AI city,’’ Lokesh said.
Investors should chose AP in view of the `visionary/ leadership of Naidu, speed of doing business and the `double engine bullet train government, he added.
