South Delhi fire: A Deadly fire raged through an establishment in the Malviya Nagar locality of South Delhi today, Wednesday morning, claiming the lives of twenty individuals. This heartbreaking incident has led to one hell of an emergency situation where authorities are desperately trying to secure the premises while investigating the root cause of the fire.

According to officials of the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), the alarm for this fire was first raised at about 9 am in the morning. With regards to the intensity of this fire and the type of premises involved, the emergency protocol was instantly executed.
Fire departments deploy flotillas against fire
Total of ten firefighting engines have been deployed to contain the inferno that has broken out in the Lemon Green Restaurant. This fire has become quite a challenge for the rescue services due to the location of this place near the market.
This senior official of the DFS further went on to say that the immediate squad of firefighters that was assigned for controlling the blaze consisted of:
- Two water tenders
- Two water bowsers
- Quick Response Vehicle (QRV)
- Dramatic basement rescue mission performed
With thick clouds of smoke enveloping the whole building, the firefighters made daring moves inside this building.
High-risk basement rescue mission carried out
With heavy smoke spreading across the entire building, the firefighters initiated a risky mission of search and rescue of people from inside the building. The emergency responders succeeded in rescuing three individuals trapped inside the basement of the building.
The three individuals who have been rescued were quickly transported to the nearest hospital where doctors are treating them. The present condition of their health is not known to anyone at this point in time.
Forensic investigation into cause of fire commenced
Even as efforts for cooling and searching on the premises continue, the area around the restaurant has been sealed off. According to reports by Delhi Police and fire safety inspectors, the actual cause behind the deadly blaze has yet to be found out. A forensic team is expected to investigate whether the incident occurred due to a short circuit or a gas cylinder leak.
