भारत और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के बीच तीन मैचों की वनडे सीरीज का पहला मुकाबला कल यानी रविवार, 30 नवंबर को रांची में खेला जाना है. इस मैच में पूर्व भारतीय कप्तान रोहित शर्मा एक नया वर्ल्ड रिकॉर्ड बना सकते हैं. दरअसल, रोहित शर्मा अगर पहले वनडे में तीन छक्के लगा देते हैं तो वह इस फॉर्मेट में सबसे ज्यादा छक्के लगाने वाले बल्लेबाज बन जाएंगे. 

दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ पहले वनडे में रोहित शर्मा के पास पाकिस्तान के पूर्व कप्तान शाहिद अफरीदी को पछाड़ने का मौका है. रोहित अगर रांची में खेले जाने वाले पहले वनडे में में 3 छक्के लगाते हैं तो वह शाहिद अफरीदी को पछाड़कर ‘सिक्सर किंग’ बन जाएंगे. 

शाहिद अफरीदी के नाम है वनडे में सबसे ज्यादा छक्के लगाने का रिकॉर्ड

रोहित शर्मा ने साल 2007 से अब तक 276 वनडे मुकाबलों में 349 छक्के लगाए हैं. इस दौरान रोहित ने 49.22 की औसत के साथ 11,370 रन बनाए. रोहित के बल्ले से 33 शतक और 59 अर्धशतक निकले हैं. वहीं पूर्व ऑलराउंडर शाहिद अफरीदी ने 398 वनडे मैचों में 351 छक्के लगाए हैं. इस पाकिस्तानी खिलाड़ी ने 23.57 की औसत के साथ 8,064 रन भी बनाए हैं. इस दौरान उनके बल्ले से 6 शतक और 39 अर्धशतक निकले. 

इस प्रकार है वनडे सीरीज का शेड्यूल

टीम इंडिया दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ 30 नवंबर से 6 दिसंबर के बीच तीन मैचों की वनडे सीरीज खेलेगी. इस सीरीज का पहला मैच रांची में खेला जाएगा, जिसके बाद 3 दिसंबर को रायपुर में सीरीज का दूसरा मुकाबला होगा. वहीं सीरीज का तीसरा मुकाबला विशाखापत्तनम में 6 दिसंबर को खेला जाएगा. नियमित कप्तान शुभमन गिल गर्दन की चोट की वजह से इस सीरीज का हिस्सा नहीं हैं. उनकी जगह विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज केएल राहुल को कप्तानी सौंपी गई है.

Choreographer Nandika Dwivedi has rejected all allegations linking her to rumours about Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana’s wedding being postponed. The music composer and the Indian cricketer had reportedly delayed their wedding after Smriti’s father was hospitalised due to health concerns. However, soon after, speculation surfaced suggesting that Palash had allegedly cheated on Smriti with a choreographer. The names of Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz began circulating online, prompting Nandika to release a public clarification.

Nandika, who was associated with the wedding choreography, issued a detailed statement addressing the accusations and firmly denying any involvement in the couple’s personal matters.

On Friday, Nandika shared a lengthy note on Instagram, stating that she had no connection to the claims circulating online. She wrote, “Over the past few days, I’ve seen speculation about my involvement in a situation that has been deeply personal for other people. I want to address and clarify that the assumptions being made about me, particularly the idea that I played a role in disrupting anyone’s relationship, are simply NOT true. It’s extremely painful to watch a narrative form around something I had no part in, and even more difficult to see how quickly these stories grow without any basis in reality.”

She also expressed her frustration with media outlets relying on unverified content, adding that the constant misinformation was causing emotional strain. “Please understand, this will not be easy for me to come out of, I cannot be falsely accused anymore. Please. I have been watching those I care about feel stressed and hurt by information that is not true, and it is taking a toll on my mental health.”

Nandika reveals she received threats

In her statement, Nandika disclosed that she had been targeted with threats amid the rising speculation. She wrote, “I had been receiving threats which family members could see, and that’s why I had made my account private. Please, I request you all to stop the rumours… I have sacrificed a lot to come to Mumbai, to work and achieve my goals. Please do not take my name further than this; I have nothing to do with any of it. Eventually, the truth will find its way.”

The other choreographer whose name was mentioned, Gulnaaz, also issued a clarification confirming that she had no involvement in the delay of the wedding.

 

What led to the postponement of Smriti Mandhana and Palash Muchhal’s wedding

On the scheduled wedding day, Smriti Mandhana’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell seriously ill and was admitted to the Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Centre in Sangli after experiencing symptoms resembling a heart attack. Following his sudden health scare, the wedding was put on hold. A day later, Palash Muchhal was also admitted to hospital. According to his mother, Palash shares a close bond with Smriti’s father and insisted that the wedding rituals would only continue once he recovered.

Shortly after her father’s hospitalisation, Smriti removed all her pre-wedding posts from Instagram. Palash’s cousin, Neeti Tak, also defended him against cheating allegations, stating that he is currently in a critical condition and should not be judged without knowing the full truth.

Kiplin Doriga, a 30-year-old international cricketer from Papua New Guinea, has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery on the island of Jersey, according to ITV on November 28. Doriga, who serves as a wicketkeeper, was in Jersey representing his country in the ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League earlier this year when the incident occurred. He attacked a woman and stole her mobile phone during the tour, prompting a swift police response. The assault took place on Hilary Street in St Helier shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Monday, August 25, as Doriga was returning to his hotel. According to police reports, Doriga spotted the woman, punched her to the ground, and forcibly took her phone. Details regarding the extent of the injuries the victim suffered have not been released. Doriga was apprehended later the same day and interviewed by authorities regarding the incident.

The following day, Doriga was formally charged with robbery and appeared before Jersey Magistrate’s Court. On Wednesday, August 27, he pleaded guilty to the offence. The case was heard in Jersey’s Royal Court, and on Friday, November 28, Doriga was sentenced to three years in prison for his actions.

Detective Sergeant Jim McGranahan of the States of Jersey Police Criminal Investigations Department praised the efficiency of the investigation, stating, “This was a fast-paced investigation with an unknown suspect who had only been on the island a matter of days. Due to the nature of the allegation, which was a stranger assault on a lone female at night, the Police dedicated a number of detectives and other assets who quickly identified Doriga, arrested him and recovered stolen property.” He further emphasized the police’s commitment to public safety, saying, “We will continue to combat violence against women and girls and prioritise the safety of islanders.”

At the time of the assault, Doriga had already played matches against Denmark and Kuwait, with additional fixtures scheduled later in the week. The case has sparked concerns over athlete conduct during international tours and raised questions about the responsibilities and behaviour of sports professionals off the field.

The sentencing of Doriga serves as a stark reminder that players are accountable for their actions, both on and off the pitch. With international tours often under public scrutiny, this case has also reignited discussions about player discipline and the role of cricket boards in ensuring the safety and conduct of athletes abroad. The Papua New Guinea Cricket Board has yet to issue a statement regarding Doriga’s future in the national team following his conviction.
