Philips SpeedPro Aqua review: Good cordless vacuum cleaner for small spaces

Philips SpeedPro Aqua review: Good cordless vacuum cleaner for small spaces

The new age vacuum cleaners are good at cleaning surfaces from visible and invisible impurities such as dust, dirt, and pet hairs. The addition of mop function makes them even better. Case in point, the recently launched SpeedPro Aqua. Priced at Rs 35,999, the SpeedPro Aqua is an expensive vacuum cleaner competing with the likes of Dyson (V10 Absolute Pro review) in the premium category. However, it is one of the few cordless vacuum cleaners available in India with support for mop function.

Starting with design, the SpeedPro Aqua is heavy but not unwieldy. It has a generous space around the handle for easy and comfortable use. This is important because the vacuum cleaner has an integrated design. It can be used without attachments for everyday cleaning on surfaces such as table top, sofa, car seats, etc. For hard to reach areas, there is a petite tube attachment with a brush tool integrated. Likewise, the vacuum head has built-in LED lights. It brings to focus dust, dirt, and other impurities otherwise hidden in dim-lit or no light areas and makes cleaning jobs easy. The integrated design extends to vacuum and mop accessories. Though separate, the mop accessory is supplementary and fits in front of the vacuum head. The integrated design of the Philips SpeedPro Aqua allows you to spend more time doing the cleaning job and less on fitting the attachments.

Design details aside, the Philips SpeedPro Aqua is an easy to use cordless vacuum cleaner best suited for small spaces. Reason being, it has a limited battery capacity good for about twenty minutes of cleaning at full power. Besides, the vacuum cleaner takes about five hours to fully charge through the supplied charger. Another reason is the rather small garbage bin. If need be, you can use the Philips SpeedPro Aqua to vacuum clean and mop large areas. However, you would be running back and forth between cleaning and emptying the garbage bin.

Coming to the performance, the Philips SpeedPro Aqua has two speed settings available and its suction power in both is decent. Speed level one is good for regular everyday cleaning, but move to speed level two for deep cleaning and vacuum cleaning with mop accessory attached. The mop accessory fits right behind the vacuum head. Therefore, any leftover by the vacuum head is cleaned by the mop. At level one, the vacuum leaves some impurities behind. It makes the mop’s micro-fiber get dirty quickly. One way to make it work without fuss is by vacuum cleaning the surface first and then going for vacuum + mop cleaning.

Verdict

The Philips SpeedPro Aqua is a simple but functional cordless vacuum cleaner good for small spaces. It does not come with many cleaning heads but integrated design, which makes it easy and comfortable to use. Besides, the addition of mop function gives it an advantage over peers because most other cordless vacuum cleaners make do with vacuum function alone.

Twitter allows users to add multiple types of media in single post

Twitter allows users to add multiple types of media in single post

on Thursday introduced a new feature allowing users to share multiple types of media—gifs, photos, videos, and memes—in a single post.

Users can add a combination of media to their posts using Twitter’s Android and iOS apps. Tweets with different content types can be consumed on all platforms.

“That means you can include a photo, GIF, and video (or two!) all in the same Tweet. Tap the photo icon in the Tweet composer to start mixing your media,” said the official handle.

Previously, users could share different media formats only in separate tweets or threads. When people compose a post now, they can select and upload a combination of up to four types of media—photos, memes, GIFs, and videos—and publish them all together. They can also rearrange the layout of their media while composing the Tweet.

“Sometimes one needs more than 280 characters to express personality, tell a compelling story or engage in conversation. So starting today, is giving everyone the ability to share multiple types of media – gifs, photos, videos, and memes – in a single Tweet. This feature will roll out globally to iOS and Android, with a chance to see mixed media Tweets on the web,” Twitter said in a press release.

The new update comes a week after Twitter rolled out two updates to make it easier for people to discover and watch videos. It introduced a new video carousel in the Explore tab and a new immersive video player.

The Explore tab video carousel helps one find more videos they would like alongside tweets and trends that might interest them. It is available to people in select countries using Twitter in English on iOS and Android.

On the other hand, the updated immersive media viewer expands videos to full screen with a single click, making Twitter the latest platform shifting its focus to vertical, reel-style videos.

“This update complements the rollout of two new video products—full-screen videos and a new video carousel in the Explore tab—that help make it easier than ever for people to find and watch what’s happening on Twitter,” Twitter said in a blog post.

Meta rolls out ‘show more’ and ‘show less’ feature for Facebook’s News Feed

Meta rolls out ‘show more’ and ‘show less’ feature for Facebook’s News Feed

Meta is rolling out ‘Show more’ and ‘Show less’ buttons in News Feed on posts from the people and communities users are connected to and posts that recommends to them.

The users can now customise Feed by selecting ‘Show more’ or ‘Show less’ on a post to see more of what you want and less of what you don’t.

“Selecting Show more will temporarily increase the ranking score for that post and posts like it. If you select Show less, you’ll temporarily decrease its ranking score,” Meta said in a blog post late on Wednesday.

Facebook said it will periodically show this on posts in Feed.

You can choose to Show more or Show less on posts by tapping into the three-dot menu in the upper right-hand corner.

“We are also starting to test this feature in Reels,” said Meta.

The company is also exploring ways to personalise how much content users see in Feed from friends and family, Groups, Pages and public figures.

“These tools, as well as Favourites, snooze and reconnect, can be found in Feed Preferences,” said Meta.

Features like these can help you discover more of the content that’s valuable to you, so you can see more of what you want and less of what you don’t.

Google’s Fitbit Versa 2 users experience glitches after software update

Google’s Fitbit Versa 2 users experience glitches after software update

As a result of the most recent software update, the Versa 2 smartwatch, which is owned by Google, is reportedly experiencing issues.

According to GizmoChina, several users of the Versa 2 have reported their devices becoming unusable after installing the update.

The update has possibly rendered some units to be unresponsive and this could be due to an unresolved bug, the report said.

The major issue reported by users of the Versa 2 is that its touchscreen is no longer functional, it added.

The latest Versa 2 update with firmware number v35.72.1.23 was expected to fix outstanding bugs but obviously, not all bugs were captured.

However, it is noted that the bug is not present in some Versa 2 units. In some affected units, it is impossible to get past the lock screen, and restarting the unit does not help either.

Members of the community who complained about the issue also stated that even a factory reset does not resolve the issue.

It was also reported that users who did a factory reset to the Versa 2 units were unable to pair the device with a smartphone thereafter.

Twitter allows users to add multiple types of media in single post

Twitter allows users to combine photos, videos and GIFs in single tweet

is rolling out a new feature that lets users combine gifs, photos, videos and memes in a single tweet on both Android and iOS devices.

The company said it is giving everyone the ability to share multiple types of media in a single Tweet.

“This feature will roll out globally to iOS and Android, with a chance to see mixed media Tweets on the web,” the company said in a blog post late on Wednesday.

The feature was first spotted by reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi in April.

Previously, anyone who wanted to share different media formats would have to do it in different Tweets or threads.

Now, when people open the Tweet composer, they can select and upload a combination of up to four types of media – photos, memes, GIFs, and videos – and publish them all together.

“They can also rearrange the layout of their media while composing the Tweet,” said the micro-blogging platform.

“Tap the photo icon in the Tweet composer to start mixing your media,” it added.

The Explore tab video carousel currently helps people find more videos they would like alongside Tweets and Trends that might interest them.

It is currently available to people in select countries using in English on iOS and Android.

The company said that the updated immersive media viewer expands videos to full screen with a single click, allowing people to easily access the full, immersive viewing experience.

“To activate it, people who access on iOS simply need to tap or click on a video in the Twitter app,” it said.
