Need a better reason to come to office, 80% of Indian employees say: Report



Eighty per cent of employees in India want a better reason to return to the office beside the company’s expectations, a report revealed on Thursday. However, they would be motivated to work from the office for other reasons.


Ninety-one per cent of the employees want to go to the office if they are allowed to socialise with their co-workers, and 92 per cent would work from the office on the prospect of building team bonds, findings from the 2022 Work Trend Index Pulse Report released by showed.


The report further showed a growing disagreement between the leaders and the employees on the issue of hybrid work and .


Ninety-three per cent of employees said that they are productive at work. On the other hand, 91 per cent of leaders believed that hybrid work has made it difficult to have confidence in employees’ productivity.


“To bridge this gap, a new approach is needed that recognises work is no longer just a place, but an experience that needs to keep employees engaged and connected, no matter where they are working from,” Bhaskar Basu, country head for Modern World at Microsoft, said.


Due to the “hyper focus” on productivity, 47 per cent of employees and 58 per cent of leaders reported that they are “already burnt out” at work.


The findings of the report further revealed that more and more employees are looking for opportunities for learning and growing while working.


“90 per cent of employees in India say that they’d stay at their company longer if they could benefit more from learning and development opportunities,” it said. Globally, this average is 76 per cent.


Underlining the relationship between skill development and attrition, the report said, “66 per cent of employees in India say the best way to develop their skills is to change companies”.


“Thriving employees are what will give organisations a competitive advantage in today’s ever-evolving economic environment,” Basu added.


Further, 44 per cent of employees in India said their do not solicit feedback.


“It’s imperative that leaders need to create clarity and alignment around company goals, eliminate busywork that doesn’t support those goals and listen to their people,” the report added.

The keyboard app, if already downloaded, will still be available on iPhones unless users don’t decide to uninstall it.


“We are ending support for SwiftKey iOS. Thank you for being a user of our product. The app will be delisted from the App Store on October 5, 2022,” said in an update.


For those customers who have SwiftKey installed on iOS, it will continue to work until it is manually uninstalled or a user gets a new device, the company added.


The users complained that Microsoft hasn’t updated the SwiftKey app on iOS in over a year.


SwiftKey has been downloaded more than 500 million times on Android.


The app will continue to be available and supported for Android users.


In May, SwiftKey received its last update for Android that made it easier to delete text and it has also added the option to disable automatic spaces after punctuation.


Microsoft acquired SwiftKey platform, which was already one of the most popular keyboard apps on iOS and Android, for reportedly $250 million in 2016.


SwiftKey was launched on Android in 2010 and arrived on iOS in 2014.


The SwiftKey for iOS predictive keyboard will be delisted from the Apple App Store as of October 5.

Taking suo moto cognizance of several tweets on openly depicting videos and photographs of sexual acts involving children, the Commission said that most of the tweets portrayed children completely naked and many of them also depicted brutal rape and other non-consensual sexual activities with children and women.


The DCW has once again given Twitter time till September 30 to file a proper reply.


The Commission has also issued summons to Delhi Police seeking an FIR in the matter and has recommended that the children and women visible in the child pornographic and rape videos be identified and assisted.


The Commission wants to know why the tweets were neither deleted nor reported by Twitter.


Further, it has sought the number of tweets depicting and rape identified, deleted, and reported by Twitter in the past four years.

Google to notify users if their personal information appears in Search



on Thursday said that starting early next year, it will notify users if their personal information like phone number, email and home address appear in Search results.


The ‘Results about you’ tool will make it easier to make removal requests of personal information from Search, said the company.


“Early next year, you’ll also be able to opt into alerts if new results appear with personally identifying information, so you can quickly request their removal from Search,” said the tech giant.


Apart from the new tool, the removal requests can also be done globally by anyone using Google’s form-based system.


The feature has already started appearing for some Search users.


With this new tool, if you find your personal information like home address, email address, phone number or any other information on Google Search, just click on the three-dot overflow menu that appears in the top-right corner of each result.


Currently, to remove any personal identifiable information (PII), you need to go to a Google Support page and fill out a form containing the URL you wanted to be removed from the search results.


Removing contact information from doesn’t remove it from the web, “which is why you may wish to contact the hosting site directly, if you’re comfortable doing so”.


Earlier this year, Google updated its policies around removing personally identifying information.

Google to soon allow people to translate local news directly in Search

Currently, people see Search results about news in their countries in their preferred language.


“In early 2023, we’ll launch a new feature that will give people a simple way to find translated news coverage using machine translation,” said the company.


To begin with, the feature will translate news results in French, German and Spanish into English on mobile and desktop, and will be expanded to other languages later.


“You’ll be able to read authoritative reporting from journalists in the country, giving you a unique perspective of what’s happening there,” said in a blog post late on Wednesday.


The new Search tool feature connects readers looking for international news to relevant local reporting in other languages, giving them access to more complete on-the-ground coverage.


The company also announced another feature that will help people find out what others are saying in online discussions and forums across the web.


“Starting today, a new feature will appear when you search for something that might benefit from the diverse personal experiences found in online discussions,” said the company.


The new feature, called ‘Discussions and forums’, will include helpful content from a variety of popular forums and online discussions across the web.


This feature has been rolled out for English users on mobile in the US, said Google.
