Meta Founder and CEO on Monday announced that is rolling out Call Links to make it easier to start and join a call in just one tap.


“We’ve also started testing secured and encrypted group video calls for up to 32 people on WhatsApp,” Zuckerberg posted. Group calling on untill now allowed up to eight participants to video call with each other.


Users can tap the ‘Call Links’ option within the Calls Tab and create a link for an audio or video call and share it easily with family and friends.


People will need the latest version of the app to use Call Links as the rollout begins this week.


Reports surfaced in April that in a bid to make group calling better, Meta-owned messaging platform will soon support up to 32 participants in group voice calls.


The update includes a redesigned interface with a social audio layout, speaker highlight, and waveforms.


In July, WhatsApp rolled out a new feature where the users can join a group video or voice call even after its started, and you see the participants in a video call screen the way you see on various communication apps.


WhatsApp said that the ‘Joinable calls’ reduce the burden of answering a group call as it starts, and brings the spontaneity and ease of in-person conversations to group calling on WhatsApp.


If someone in your group misses a call when the phone rings, they can still join whenever they like. You can also drop-off and re-join so long as the call is still ongoing.


For over 400 million users in India, WhatsApp video calls are an easiest medium to connect to their loved ones especially in the social distancing times.

More reports have now surfaced that Apple may replace the current “Pro Max” branding next year with the top-end iPhone 15 series, calling it “Ultra”.


The “Pro Max” branding appeared for the first time with the iPhone 11 series in 2019.


According to Apple tracker Mark Gurman, who expects iPhone 15 to come with some “bigger changes,” including USB-C (instead of Apple’s proprietary Lightning port), the tech giant could introduce a new branding for high-end models.


The company has already launched a rugged Watch Ultra and now has ‘M1 Ultra’ processor.


According to supply chain analyst Ross Young, the ‘Dynamic Island’ feature could arrive on all iPhone 15 models.


The company has reportedly started testing the new USB-C feature owing to the European Union’s new law that requires all new phones to have USB-C ports by 2024.


Analysts Ming-Chi Kuo has also suggested that “Ultra” will exclusively have a periscope lens (6x or 5x). Also, the Ultra will come with an improved battery life that lasts three-four hours longer.


With all these exclusive upgrades, the iPhone 15 Ultra is expected to go up in price compared to the 14 Pro Max, possibly starting at $1,200 (up from $1,100).

Several users have complained that their old photographs had been “corrupted”.


According to 9To5Google, users scrolling back several years through their library have found pictures that can be best described as “corrupted” in recent days.


People began noticing that their years-old (over five years, approximately) have lines and deep cracks running through them, as well as other blurry or distorted areas, the report said.


“White dots are also a common occurrence. Some images are more damaged than others with seemingly no pattern to what’s impacted or the severity,” it added.


According to those affected, the corruption persists when downloading the image.


This apparently applies to both individual downloads and when using Takeout. The original copies of pictures do not appear to be impacted, but the edited ones are what appear in the Google Photos apps.


As per the report, it does not appear that all users have this problem, but it seems to impact a rather sizable number.


Meanwhile, Google, this year, added new filters in Google Photos to help users show their skin in its true shade.


With the Pixel 6 series, the tech giant worked to adjust the phone’s camera to more accurately capture the wide variety of human skin tones so that people can see their true selves in photographs.

Samsung forays into finance, launches credit card with Axis Bank and Visa



South Korean electronics maker Samsung, in partnership with Axis Bank, launched Visa-powered in India. The card will allow customers to avail of a 10 per cent cashback across all products and services throughout the year. It will be over and above the existing offers, on both equated monthly instalment (EMI) and non-EMI transactions.


“We’re excited to be able to put the control into our consumers’ hands,” Ken Kang, president and CEO for South-West Asia, Samsung, said at the launch of the card.


The cashback will be available on all products, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, televisions, refrigerators, ACs, and washing machines. The cashback will also be eligible for Samsung services like service center payments, Samsung Care+ mobile protection plans, and extended warranties.


The 10 per cent cashback benefit will be available around the year.


The cashback will be applicable online on Samsung web portal, Samsung shopping, and Flipkart. It will also be applicable at select offline channels selling Samsung products through Pine Labs and Benow payment interfaces. The cashback can also be availed at authorized Samsung Service Centers through both offline and online modes.


There are two variants of the card that are being made available to the public, Signature and Infinite.


With the Signature variant, customers are eligible to avail of up to Rs 10,000 cashback per annum with a monthly cashback limit of Rs 2,500.


On the Infinite variant, an annual cashback of Rs 20,000 is allowed with a monthly limit of Rs 5,000. There is no minimum transaction value in either of the cards. Edge Reward Points will be awarded to the customers on every purchase via the new cards.


The cards will also give airport lounge access, fuel surcharge waiver and dining offers to the customers – said Samsung.


The annual fee for the Signature variant is Rs 500 (excluding taxes) and for the Infinite variant is Rs 5,000 (excluding taxes).

The move to assemble 14 in soon after the phone’s global launch raises expectations that the Cupertino-based company could reduce the price of its new models as it does not have to pay customs duties on the devices when imported from China.


However, sources aware of the company’s working say that such a move will not be immediate, and customers might have to wait for a quarter or more for it to be reflected in lower prices in the country.


In a statement, the company announced: “We’re excited to be manufacturing 14 in India. The new iPhone introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities.”

For instance, for the top-of-the-line iPhone 14 Pro with 256 GB memory, the price differential between India and the US is over Rs 50,000 (it is Rs 139,900 in India compared to Rs 89,623 in the US).


With iPhone 14 assembly starting in India just a few days after the global launch, Apple is trying to expedite the process of reducing its dependence on China. Over 95 per cent of all iPhones are still made in China. Based on estimates and its commitment under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme, the company’s vendors are expected to produce a minimum of 12 per cent of its global production of phones in India by 2025-26.


Apple has been quietly working to reduce the gap between launching its new phones and assembling them in India, which began in 2017 with the iPhone SE.


But 2022 will, in many ways, be a watershed year, with two of Apple’s flagship models being assembled in India in the same year. Before iPhone 14, the company started assembling iPhone 13 in India in April 2022, seven months after its global launch in September 2021. This gap would’ve been much lower had it not been for some labour issues at the plant in Karnataka.


However, just five months later, iPhone 14 is being “Assembled in India”.

With the iPhone 14 Pro models continuing to have high demand compared to the iPhone 13 Pro range, delivery times for the iPhone 14 have reduced over times from one week ago, analysts claim.


In its third week of the Product Availability Tracker, JP Morgan claims iPhone demand continues to be elevated for the Pro models, but the non-Pro iPhone 14 versions are apparently still weaker than the iPhone 13 and mini, reports AppleInsider.


The note stated that pickup without a preorder is available for all models, except for the yet-to-ship iPhone 14 Plus.


For global at-home delivery, the iPhone 14 is tracked at an unchanged 3 days, the Pro is down from 35 days to 31 days, and the Pro Max goes from 41 days to 39 days, as seen in the second week.


Relative to the iPhone 13, the lead times are shorter for the iPhone 14, but extended for the Pro Max, indicating a consumer preference for the premium models, the report said.


On a regional basis, the iPhone 14 is stable at 5 days in the US, while the Pro and Pro Max are moderated down to 31 days and 38 days, respectively.


However, while the iPhone 14 and Pro are available for same-day pickup, the Pro Max is not.


In China, the Pro model lead times have moderated towards the global average, at 32 days for the Pro, 39 days for the Pro Max.
