Delta video game emulator is now available on iPhones in India through Apple’s App Store. It is among the first video game emulators to get listed on the App Store. The emulator for iPhone supports multiple gaming platforms such as Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Nintendo 64, Game Boy colour, and more.


Apple earlier announced that it will allow video game emulator applications on iPhones through its App Store. With this move, Apple has opened its iPhone ecosystem to run retro gaming console emulators, allowing iPhone users to play older-generation video games from the likes of Nintendo, Mitashi, and more.

Delta Game Emulator is available on the Apple App Store for both iPhones and Macs.

While the app has on-display controls and multiple options to customise the emulator layout, there is also support for third-party Bluetooth gaming controllers, including Sony PlayStation controllers, Xbox One S controllers, and more.


Delta Game Emulator: How to use


Playing games on emulator apps requires ROMs of compatible video games. ROMs are essentially files that contain virtual copies of the game’s data. There are multiple ways to get a game’s ROM file. You can use physical tools like “GB Operators”, which allow connecting older-generation video game cartridges to your computer or smartphone. Multiple third-party websites provide ROM files for select games.


  • Once you have downloaded or stored a ROM file of a game to your iPhone, open the Delta Game Emulator and tap on the “+” button on the top right section of the screen.


  • Select “Files” or any other source where you have stored the ROM file.


  • Select the ROM file of the game you want to play on the emulator and tap on open.


  • Tap on the video game icon within the Delta Emulator and start playing


The app segregates the games available based on the Gaming system they belong to. For example, playable games from the SNES console will be presented in a different section than the games from the Nintendo DS. You can simply swipe on the homepage to browse every section.

Elon Musk, founder and CEO of X (formerly Twitter), said that ChatGPT is “too woke” and its capabilities are “concerning”.


Responding to a user on X, who was talking about a TED talk video by National Public Radio (NPR) CEO and president Katherine Maher discussing that truth is subjective, Musk said, “This is why I refer to it as the granddaddy of all parasitic idea pathogens.”


Musk wrote on X, “Now imagine if this is programmed, explicitly or implicitly, into super powerful AI – it could end civilisation. Now, no need to imagine. It is already programmed into Google Gemini and OpenAI ChatGPT.”


Musk has warned people about AI’s negative impact in the past. He had also signed a letter, along with other tech experts, asking for a pause in AI development for six months, according to a report in India Today.


India Today reported that despite Musk’s repeated warnings about the dangers of AI, he has been involved in the technology for a long time. In 2015, Musk became a founding member of OpenAI alongside Sam Altman and others when the organisation operated as a non-profit entity. Musk left the company in 2018 due to a “conflict of interest” arising from his other companies’ involvement in AI technologies.


However, a blog post by OpenAI stated that Musk’s departure was motivated by his desire for complete control over the organisation, even proposing its merger with Tesla at one point.


The India Today report said that in December last year, Musk introduced his own AI chatbot, GrokAI, to the public. Accessible to X Premium and Premium+ users, the chatbot was labelled to possess a “sense of humor” upon its debut. Marketed as an AI assistant, Grok AI was designed to provide answers with “wit and also has a rebellious streak.”


According to the India Today report, executives from xAI, an artificial intelligence company owned by Musk, said that “those who lack a sense of humour shouldn’t use GrokAI.” The team’s post on X read, “Grok is an AI modelled after the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, so intended to answer almost anything and, far harder, even suggest what questions to ask. Grok is designed to answer questions with a bit of wit and has a rebellious streak, so please don’t use it if you hate humour.”

Apple Inc plans to invest more than $250 million to expand its regional campus or operations in Ang Mo Kio, Singapore, according to a company statement dated April 17.

 


Two buildings acquired in 2022, located across from Apple’s existing offices, will undergo a major upgrade, the U.S.


technology giant said.

 


“Singapore is truly a one-of-a-kind place, and we are proud of the connection we’ve built with this dynamic community of creators, learners, and dreamers,” Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, said in a statement.

 


Apple opened its first facility in Singapore in 1981 with 72 employees focused on Apple II, its early personal computer.


It has since grown to house more than 3,600 employees in the city-state, which serves as an operations centre for Apple in the region.

 


Cook will meet Singapore’s prime minister-designate Lawrence Wong as well as the city-state’s incumbent leader Lee Hsien Loong this week as part of his Southeast Asia tour, Bloomberg News reported earlier on Wednesday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

Alphabet-owned Google is laying off an unspecified number of employees, a company spokesperson said on Wednesday, marking the latest cuts at the technology giant as it cracks down on costs.


The Google spokesperson said the layoffs are not company-wide and that affected employees will be able to apply for internal roles, but did not specify the number of employees impacted nor the teams involved.


A small percentage of the impacted roles will move to hubs the company is investing in, including India, Chicago, Atlanta and Dublin.


The layoffs follow a slew of job cuts across Google, and the tech and media industry this year, adding to fears that layoffs may continue as companies grapple with economic uncertainty.


“Throughout the second half of 2023 and into 2024, a number of our teams made changes to become more efficient and work better, remove layers and align their resources to their biggest product priorities,” the spokesperson added.


Employees across several of Google’ teams in its real estate and finance departments have been affected, according to a Business Insider report on Wednesday. The finance teams affected include Google’s treasury, business services, and revenue cash operations, it added.


Google’s finance chief, Ruth Porat, sent an email to staff saying the restructuring includes expanding growth to Bangalore, Mexico City, and Dublin, according to the Business Insider report.


Google let go of hundreds of workers across multiple teams in January including its engineering, hardware and assistant teams as the company ramps up investment and builds its artificial intelligence offerings.


Company CEO Sundar Pichai reportedly told employees at the start of the year to expect more job cuts.

EU antitrust regulators have concluded that Microsoft’s $13 billion investment into OpenAI is not an acquisition, sources familiar with the matter said on Wednesday, signaling the deal will avoid a formal European probe that could have led to onerous remedies for the U.S. tech giant.


Microsoft, OpenAI and a spokesperson of the European Commission did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.

 


EU regulators had said in January that the deal may be subject to merger rules in the region. Microsoft, which has a non-voting position on OpenAI board, said late last year it did not own any portion of the ChatGPT maker.

 


But Microsoft is not out of the woods yet, with the EU competition enforcer still looking into partnerships between large digital market players and generative AI developers and providers that could lead to intrusive and lengthy investigations in their market power.

 


The Microsoft-OpenAI partnership is also under informal scrutiny in other regions.

 


UK’s Competition and Markets Authority is reviewing whether to launch a probe to see if the deal affects competition among British firms, while the U.S. Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission are reportedly considering an investigation.


To avoid such probes, Microsoft is actively scouting partnerships with other AI firms. Earlier this year, it announced a pact with French startup Mistral AI.
