Abu Dhabi investment firm 3AI Holding and SML India on Thursday announced a partnership to jointly own ‘Hanooman’, a multilingual generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) platform launching on May 1.

SML, short for Seetha Mahalaxmi Healthcare, introduced Hanooman at the Nasscom National Technology Leadership Forum Techade conference in February. 3AI Holding’s proprietary Omega GenAI technology will make Hanooman “bigger and more powerful”, said the companies which will each hold 50 per cent in the platform.

“We are focusing on catering to a diverse range of users through our advanced multilingual text capabilities. This collaboration is aligned with our vision of bridging the gap between India and Bharat. We are driven towards making AI inclusive and accessible to everyone in a language of their choice, reaching the remotest corners of the country,” said Arjun Prasad, managing director of 3AI Holding.

As many as 80 per cent of India’s 1.42 billion people does not speak English. Hanooman will offer multimodal and multilingual capabilities, including text, voice, images, and codes to users. It will enable GenAI platforms to build their applications and can be used by startups.

“We are excited to partner with 3AI Holding to introduce a more advanced avatar of Hanooman, which will revolutionize how Indians interact with technology. With this strategic partnership, we aim to reach 200 million users in 22 Indian languages within 12 months,” said Vishnu Vardhan, co-founder and chief executive officer of SML India. Hanooman will make India a pioneer in the adoption and usage of AI, he said in a statement.

3AI Holding Limited, which is led by Arjun Prasad, is developing an advanced version of Omega to compete with global GenAI platforms. 3AI is backed by the Patel Family Office in the United States.

3AI Holding Limited recently launched Ask QX, a generative AI platform available in more than 100 global languages and 12 Indian languages.

Microsoft, Quantinuum claim breakthrough in quantum computing: Details here

Microsoft, Quantinuum claim breakthrough in quantum computing: Details here

Microsoft and Quantinuum on Wednesday said they have achieved a key step in making quantum computers a commercial reality by making them more reliable.

The move is the latest in a race to perfect quantum computing in which tech firms such as Microsoft, Alphabet’s Google and IBM are jostling with both rivals and nation states to create machines that take advantage of quantum mechanics to promise speeds far faster than conventional silicon-based computers. Those quantum machines could make feasible scientific calculations that would otherwise take millions of years with today’s classical computers.

But the fundamental unit of quantum computers – called a “qubit” – is fast but finicky, producing data errors if the quantum computer is even slightly disturbed. To solve that problem, quantum researchers often build more physical qubits than needed and use error-correction techniques to yield a smaller number of reliable and useful qubits.

Microsoft and Quantinuum said they had made a breakthrough in that field. Microsoft applied an error-correction algorithm that it wrote to Quantinuum’s physical qubits, yielding about four reliable qubits from 30 physical ones.

Jason Zander, Microsoft’s executive vice president for strategic missions and technologies, said the company believes that is the best ratio of reliable qubits from a quantum chip that has ever been shown.

“We ran more than 14,000 individual experiments without a single error. That’s up to 800 times better than anything on record,” Zander told Reuters in an interview.

Microsoft said it plans to release the technology to its cloud computing customers in the coming months.

Quantum researchers, both at Quantinuum and its rivals, often cite a figure of about 100 reliable qubits as the number needed to beat a conventional supercomputer. Neither Microsoft nor Quantinuum on Wednesday would say how many more years they will need to use the new technique to hit 100 reliable qubits.

But Ilyas Khan, the chief product officer of Quantinuum, said, “The current view is that we have lopped at least two years off that, if not more.”

Musk launches X's 'Community Notes' programme in India: Here's how it works

Musk launches X's 'Community Notes' programme in India: Here's how it works

Elon Musk‘s micro-blogging platform X (formerly Twitter) announced the launch of its “Community Notes” programme in India on Thursday. The platform said that this programme will allow users to participate in fact-checking tweets shared on the platform, creating a more informed digital environment.

X’s affiliate handle, Community Notes said: “Welcome new contributors in India. Our first contributors are joining today, and we’ll be expanding over time. As always, we’ll monitor quality to ensure that notes are found helpful by people from different points of view. Community Notes now has contributors in 69 countries around the world, and we’re adding more regularly…”

According to X, “Community Notes” will help “combat misinformation by enlisting individuals from diverse backgrounds as note authors, and the platform refrains from endorsing any specific viewpoint, instead relying on the collective input of contributors to assess content credibility.”

Essential guidelines to become a contributor

To become a contributor to “Community Notes”, accounts must meet specific criteria outlined by X such as having no recent violations of X’s rules, being a member of X for at least six months, and having a verified phone number from a trusted carrier not associated with other “Community Notes” accounts.

Steps to become a contributor to “Community Notes”

-Click on the menu on a post’s top right and select “Write a Community Note”

-Answer required multiple-choice questions

-Provide contextual information

-A note will be available on the “Community Notes” site for other contributors to read and rate

The notes claiming that a post is misleading will be eligible to be shown on the post if rated as helpful by enough people. Notes claiming a post is not misleading will be shown as additional information but will not be displayed on the post if they earn a status of “Helpful”. If a note earns the status of “Helpful”, it will be shown on X as context, and the contributor will then earn “Writing Impact”. Contributors have the option to delete their notes at any time.

According to X, there is a restriction on the number of note proposals a user can submit within a 24-hour period in order to maintain the quality of notes and prevent spams.
