Twitter to charge $1,000 per month from businesses for their gold badges

has told businesses to pay $1,000 per month for retaining gold badges and brands and organisations which do not pay the money will lose their checkmarks.

The Elon Musk-run company, which is busy monetising its platform via various means, will also charge an extra $50 per month to add badges to each account affiliated with the brand, reports The Information.

A screenshot posted by consultant Matt Navarra also suggested that is going to charge a massive $1,000 per month.

is reportedly emailing businesses offering gold check mark verification for $1000 PER MONTH! And affiliate account verification for $50 each per month,” tweeted Navarra.

Twitter did not immediately comment on this.

“As an early access subscriber, you’ll get a gold checkmark for your organisation and affiliation badges for its associates,” read an email sent by Twitter to businesses.

“If you’d like to subscribe, Verified for Organisations is $1,000 per month, and $50 per additional affiliated handle per month with one month of free affiliations,” it added.

Twitter had rolled out gold badges ahead of its Verification for Organisations programme (formerly called Blue for Business), which allows brands to “verify and distinguish themselves on Twitter.”

In December last year, Twitter relaunched its Blue subscription service with verification, costing $8 for Android users and $11 for iPhone owners per month.

Musk has now said that all legacy verified accounts will soon lose their Blue badges as those are ‘deeply corrupted’.

The micro-blogging platform has expanded its Blue service subscription service to six more countries, taking the total to 12 where users can subscribe to it.

Meta wins court battle against USFTC to acquire VR company ‘Within’

Meta wins court battle against USFTC to acquire VR company ‘Within’

In a relief for Meta, a US court has allowed the company to go ahead with its acquisition of VR company called Within, despite an ongoing antitrust case against the tech giant by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC).

After a seven-day hearing, the court denied the FTC’s motion for preliminary injunction against the acquisition.

“After reviewing the evidentiary record and the parties’ arguments, the court concludes that it is not “reasonably probable” that Meta would enter the market for VR dedicated fitness apps if it could not consummate the acquisition,” read the ruling.

The FTC in July last year sought to block giant Meta and Zuckerberg from acquiring Within as Meta is already a key player at each level of the VR sector.

The agency had alleged that Meta and Zuckerberg are planning to expand Meta’s VR empire “with this attempt to illegally acquire a dedicated fitness app that proves the value of to users.”

The US court, however, has now ruled in favour of Meta, giving the FTC time to appeal.

The Within VR company owns the popular fitness app ‘Supernatural’.

Supernatural offers a variety of high-quality workouts set to music, including tracks from A-list artists like Katy Perry, Imagine Dragons, Lady Gaga, and Coldplay, and virtually located in striking, photorealistic locales, like the Galapagos Islands.

Meta recently acquired the Netherlands-based 3D smart glass maker Luxexcel, as it doubles down on its dream in 2023.
