South Korean electronics maker on Wednesday announced three flagship in the Galaxy S23 series at its first Unpacked event of 2023. Leading the pack is the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which brings a 200-megapixel based camera system loaded with several industry-first features. Below are the details:


What’s new in the Galaxy S23 Ultra camera


Samsung added new features while enhancing the existing ones for improved imaging experience on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The smartphone gets enhanced ‘Night Photos’ with a new adaptive pixel 200MP sensor. To create bright and detailed shots in the dark of night, our new adaptive sensor on the S23 Ultra combines 16-pixels into one larger pixel to improve lighting – said Samsung.


Besides photos, portraits get the upgrade too. According to Samsung, Night portraits on the selfie camera creates stand-out portraits with a beautiful sense of depth and enhanced bokeh effect by analysing the distance of objects and separating the subject from background.


With the new chip, the camera’s AI get new capabilities. In the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the camera’s AI captures the real essence of who we are by analysing features such as hair, eyes and skin separately and adjusting separately – said Samsung.


On the video side, there is now an improved video stabilisation with adaptive VDIS, which analyses and subdivides movements and recognises lighting conditions to stabilise videos. Besides, the Galaxy S23 Ultra gets 2x wider OIS angle, compared to S22 Ultra, to increase stabilisation and capture true-to-life videos according to lighting and movement. Further, there is noise reduction technology and enhanced AI solution powered by the latest processor that detects noise in low-light situations to create crisp videos at night.


Among the new value-add imaging features is the ‘Astro Hyperlapse’. According to Samsung, the Astro Hyperlapse mode would allow users to take beautiful clips of star movements or trails without any special equipment by selecting the 300x setting in hyperlapse mode.

South Korean electronics maker on Wednesday announced the Galaxy S23 series at its first Unpacked event of 2023. The series brings three premium flagship — Galaxy 23 Ultra, Galaxy S23 Plus, and Galaxy S23. With focus on design, sustainability, imaging experience, gaming, and performance, the bring all-round upgrades over the last generation models.


“The new Galaxy S series offers the ultimate premium smartphone experience, designed for today and beyond to help people take their passions further,” said at the Unpacked event.


What’s new in the Galaxy 23 series


All three in the Galaxy S23 series boast new design, enhanced protection and durability, and improved imaging experience. said its Galaxy S23 series is “a new standard with industry best and first innovations”.


Starting with design, the smartphones trade off the contour-cut camera housing around the lenses on the Galaxy S22 series for a clean and linear design. All models in the series come in four colours – phantom black, cream, green, and lavender. The smartphones boast Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. 


As for the features. these are the first Galaxy S-series smartphones to support 360-degree audio recording with Galaxy Buds2 Pro. The smartphones get a new Expert RAW app for cameras capable of using 50-megapixel mode for photography. Besides, there is a new ‘Astrophoto’ feature, which lets users capture distant stars and galaxies without requiring specialised equipment. Multiple exposure mode is another new addition to the imaging experience on the Galaxy S23 series.


Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, which is a slightly tweaked version of the regular processor, the smartphones boot One UI 5.1 interface with new features such as Samsung Notes integration in Google Meet for collaborative working.


Besides the above, the Galaxy S23 series brings improvement in displays too. The screens on all three models support ‘Advanced Vision Booster’, which allows automatic adjustments for colour enhancements and contrast at three different ambient lighting conditions throughout the day. DCPCR launches WhatsApp chatbot to make governance citizen-friendly







The Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights launched its chatbot on Wednesday with Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, terming it an important initiative to make governance citizen-friendly.


The chatbot, called ‘Bal Mitra’, is an effort to enable two-way communication between people and the child rights panel. The chatbot will help citizens and the commission to interact more effectively, according to a government statement.


Some of the features of the chatbot include complaint registration, searching information and tracking complaint status, and seeking information on admissions, among others.


Along with providing authentic information on various matters related to children and their rights, the chatbot will also ensure the confidentiality of the matters reported through it.


“Chatbot ‘Bal Mitra’, launched by the DCPCR, is a very important initiative to make governance citizen-friendly. This will serve as a source of authentic information regarding children and their rights,” Sisodia said.


Along with a platform to report any matter related to the protection of child rights, this chatbot will also guide people, especially parents on issues of admissions and education of their children,” he said.


“Good governance involves timely nudges and DCPCR Bal Mitra’ will help us make our governance more effective. It will eliminate the gap of information between the government and citizens,” the deputy chief minister said.


He added that DCPCR has been making various technological interventions regularly to ensure that the government is more accessible to the people in times of need and otherwise.


Before this, the commission had launched the ‘Early Warning System’ which has helped the education department to bring back over 50,000 students to schools and reduce the dropout rate.


Explaining how the chatbot works, DCPCR chairperson Anurag Kundu said it is an automated responsive application that will assist in information disbursements, help people register complaints and routine communication with complainants among others.


“Those who are not able to access the commission physically or are unable to contact the helpline will be able to register complaints/seek information through this.”

He added that through this initiative the commission aims to reimagine the governance which puts children’s and citizens’ convenience at the front desk.


Kundu further said the panel has taken various technological initiatives, including the digitisation of physical files, and dissemination of child rights-related information through various digital platforms.


“Through all these interventions, the commission aims to be fully digitised soon,” he said.
