“I'm Glad He's Safe”: Kamala Harris After Shots Fired In Trump's Vicinity

“I'm Glad He's Safe”: Kamala Harris After Shots Fired In Trump's Vicinity

The Republican candidate is “safe”, his party campaign said.

Shots were fired from an AK-47-style rifle in former US President Donald Trump’s vicinity on the grounds of his golf course in Palm Beach Florida, where he was present. The Republican candidate is “safe”, his party campaign said.

Kamala Harris, US Vice President and Democratic Party’s Presidential candidate said she has been “briefed on reports of gunshots fired near former President Trump and his property in Florida. I am glad that he is safe.” Ms Harris said, “Violence has no place in America.”

The US Secret Service, the organization responsible for protecting serving and former Presidents, accompanied Mr Trump – A protocol followed by the team.

The motive behind the shooting is unclear, but still, it came almost two months after a failed assassination attempt against Mr Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a shooter, atop a roof, shot a 5.56mm bullet from an AR-15 style rifle, which grazed his ear and blood splattering on his face.

The US Secret Service accepted that it had failed to protect the former president at an election rally in Pennsylvania on July 13.

The Secret Service takes full responsibility for the tragic events of July 13th. This was a mission failure. The sole responsibility of our agency is to make sure our protectees are never put in danger. We fell short of that in Butler. And I’m working to make sure that this failure does not happen again,” Acting Director of the US Secret Service, Ronald Rowe said.

Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will be up against each other in the closely contested presidential elections scheduled for November this year.

The incident in Florida comes days after the first Presidential debate between the rival candidates where Ms Harris “trumped” Donald Trump and a majority of debate watchers said Harris outperformed Trump, according to a CNN flash poll released shortly after the debate. YouGov showed 54% of those surveyed said Harris won while 31% said Trump was the victor.

“Virat Kohli Played Under My Captaincy”: Politician Tejashwi Yadav | Cricket News

Indian politician Tejashvi Yadav made heads turn on social media as he shared his cricketing journey. Tejashwi, who is the son of former Bihar Prime Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and an RJD leader, has claimed that Indian cricket great Virat Kohli played under his captaincy in domestic cricket. But, Tejashwi isn’t happy that his cricketing career has been totally forgotten despite him being a star player during his active days in the domestic spectrum. In fact, the political leader also claimed that many of the current players in the Indian cricket team used to be his batchmates.

“I was a cricketer and no one talks about it. Virat Kohli played in my captaincy -did anyone ever talk about it? Why don’t they do so? As a professional, I played a good cricket. Many Team India players are my batchmates.

“I had to quit as my both ligaments were fractured. Let it be,” Yadav told Zee Media during an interview.

The statement from Tejashvi has gone viral on social media, drawing varied reactions from cricket fans.

Tejashwi Yadav’s cricket career

Tejashwi played a total of 1 First Class, 2 List A and 4 T20 matches in his career. He represented Jharkhand in the domestic spectrum, making his First Class debut against Vidarbha in November 2009. His two List A outings came against Tripura and Orissa in February 2010. All four of his T20 appearances came in Dhanbad, against Orissa, Assam, Bengal and Tripura.

Not many know that Tejaswi was also contracted by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2008 season. He remained on the bench for the franchise from 2008 to 2012, not playing a single game.

Explained: How New 'Mountain Tank' Will Enhance Army's Combat Capabilities

Explained: How New 'Mountain Tank' Will Enhance Army's Combat Capabilities

The first phase of trials have been successfully completed.

New Delhi:

Learning lessons from the standoff with China in Eastern Ladakh and fine-tuning them by observing what’s been happening in the war between Russia and Ukraine, the Defence Research and Development Organisation has developed India’s first ‘mountain tank’, Zorawar, which successfully completed its first phase of trials on Friday.

The air-transportable, 25-tonne combat platform, developed for high-altitude deployment, has been designed to meet India’s needs on the frontier with China.

“The DRDO on September 13 successfully conducted the preliminary automotive trials of the Indian light Tank, Zorawar, a highly versatile platform capable of deployment in high-altitude areas,” the Defence Ministry said.

“During the field trials conducted in the desert terrain, the light tank demonstrated exceptional performance, efficiently meeting all the intended objectives,” it added.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the successful trials as a “significant milestone” on  India’s path to self-reliance in critical defence systems and technologies.

Developed by DRDO’s Combat Vehicles Research & Development Establishment (CVRDE) in association with Larsen and Toubro, the Army is planning to deploy 350 Zorawar tanks, mostly in mountainous terrain.

DRDO had earlier developed the Arjun, a third-generation main battle tank weighing 58.5 tonnes but, after the confrontation with China, the need was felt for a lighter tank for hilly terrain.

What Makes It Special

Developed in a record time of about three years, Zorawar, which means “courageous” in Punjabi, will be ready to be inducted into the Army in another three. The project has been named after General Zorawar Singh Kahluria, who had served under Raja Gulab Singh of Jammu’s Dogra dynasty and  helped expand the Dogra territory by conquering Ladakh.

Being light, it can be easily deployed in border areas by helicopter. Experts said the tank will prove to be very effective even in bad weather and difficult conditions on the northern border, and can also perform well in desert areas.

Equipped with armour which is strong for its category of tanks, it can wade through water as well. Its speed is about 60 kilometres per hour on land and it is equipped with the Cockerill 3105 turret with a 105-millimetre calibre gun. Machine guns can be mounted on it and anti-tank guided missiles can also be installed.

With its ability to fire at high angles of elevation, the tank can perform the role of limited artillery and it is a versatile platform which has been built in a modular fashion to accommodate future upgrades.

The gunbattle in Kishtwar’s Chatroo began after the security forces launched an operation in the area. The encounter is still going on, the White Knight Corps said in a post on X.

The same terrorists involved in the encounter in Kishtwar are linked to another encounter in Doda in July, when four soldiers including an officer were killed in action, sources said.

1st Time In 91 Years: Afghanistan vs New Zealand Gets Cancelled, Puts Blemish On Indian Cricket | Cricket News

1st Time In 91 Years: Afghanistan vs New Zealand Gets Cancelled, Puts Blemish On Indian Cricket | Cricket News

Friday is the last day for the Afghanistan vs New Zealand one-off Test in Greater Noida, but wait continues for the first ball of the game to be bowled. Poor facilities and inclement weather has meant that the match is likely to be called off without a ball being bowled. If indeed it happens, it will be the first time on Indian soild that a Test match would be abandoned without a ball being bowled. The first time India hosted a Test match  was in 1933.

So, it will be the first time in 91 years that a Test match on Indian soil would be called off without a ball being bowled. In Asia, before this, only one match has been called off without a ball being bowled. It happened in 1998 in a match between Pakistan and Zimbabwe in Faisalabad. Overall, only seven Tests have been abandoned without a ball being bowled across the world.

“The fourth day of the only Test match between Afghanistan and New Zealand teams is also not going to be played due to continued rainfall,” the Afghanistan Cricket Board said in a statement on Thursday.

It said that the decision about the start of the game on Friday morning at 8:00 will be made after the stadium assessment.

The city had witnessed relentless rains over the last week and the first two days were disrupted due to a damp outfield caused by poor drainage system at the ground. Then, rain intervened on day three and four to force an early abandonment of the play.

ACB had previously said they were offered Kanpur and Bengaluru to host this Test, but they chose the venue in Greater Noida due to other two venues being used for BCCI matches (upcoming India-Bangladesh second Test and recently-concluded Duleep Trophy round one).

The current Test is not part of the World Test Championship but the Kiwis have the opportunity to acclimatise to subcontinental conditions ahead of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka and India in the coming months.

On the other hand, Afghanistan, who have played two one-off Tests against Sri Lanka and Ireland earlier this year, are in search of their first red-ball win since 2021.

Indian-Origin Lawyer Fired Over 'Inappropriate Relationship' With CEO In US

Indian-Origin Lawyer Fired Over 'Inappropriate Relationship' With CEO In US

An Indian-origin lawyer has been fired over an alleged ‘inappropriate workplace relationship’ with the CEO of the company in US’ Georgia.

Nabanita Nag, the Chief Legal Officer at Norfolk Southern Corporation, was terminated from her role after an investigation into claims she was involved in a consensual relationship with her boss Chief Executive Officer Alan Shaw, who was also fired.

Though the relationship was consensual, the two officials violated company policies and code of ethics by engaging in a relationship, Norfolk Southern Corporation said.

The move “comes in connection with preliminary findings from an ongoing investigation that determined Shaw violated company policies by engaging in a consensual relationship with the company’s chief legal officer. Shaw’s departure is unrelated to the company’s performance, financial reporting and results of operations,” Norfolk Southern Corporation said in a press release.

In her LinkedIn profile, Ms Nag has called herself a “seasoned leader” with who works with three Fortune 300 public companies. She formerly worked at Goldman Sachs.

She was appointed Chief Legal Officer in 2022 and Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs in 2023.

She first joined Norfolk Southern in 2020 as General Counsel. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Government and English from Georgetown University, and a Juris Doctor (JD) from New York University School of Law.

Now, Mark R George, the company’s chief financial officer, has been named president and chief executive officer after Mr Shaw’s dismissal.
