Mhow, Madhya Pradesh:

Criminals attacked two young Army officers and their two women friends and also raped one of them when they were out on a picnic in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district in the early hours of Wednesday, police said.

Badgonda police station in-charge Lokendra Singh Hirore said the officers, aged 23 and 24, undergoing Young Officers (YO) course at the Infantry School in Mhow cantonment town, had gone out for a picnic on Tuesday along with two female friends.

At about 2 am on Wednesday, seven unidentified men arrived near the picnic spot on Mhow-Mandleshwar road and started beating up one of the officers sitting in a car and also the women, he said.

The second officer, who was away from the car, managed to inform his seniors about the incident, after which police reached the spot, Mr Hirore said.

Looking at the police, the criminals fled the spot. All four victims were brought to Mhow Civil Hospital for medical examination at about 6.30 am and as per doctors, there were signs of injuries on the officers’ bodies, he informed.

Hirore said in the medical examination, it was found that the criminals had raped one of the women.

Talking to reporters, Indore Rural SP Hitika Vasal said, “A case under (BNS) sections pertaining to loot, dacoity, rape and under the Arms Act has been registered.” Personnel from four police stations have fanned out and launched a manhunt for the criminals, Hitika Vasal added.

Donald Trump, Kamala Harris Face-Off In Crucial Presidential Debate Ahead Of US Elections

Donald Trump, Kamala Harris Face-Off In Crucial Presidential Debate Ahead Of US Elections

US Presidential Debate: Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will debate each other in the high-stakes battle

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his Democrat counterpart Kamala Harris will participate in the crucial US Presidential debate being hosted by ABC Networks globally. The presidential debate comes exactly 8 weeks ahead of election day across the United States.

The US presidential debate may prove to be a game-changing moment for either candidate with the most recent polls showing Kamala Harris and Donald Trump neck-and-neck in the high-stakes battle for the top post.

The debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris will be their first, and most-likely, only debate. The clash could prove pivotal for either participant in the pitched battle for the White House.

Tens of millions of views in the United States and several million more across the world will tune in to the debate at 9 pm Eastern Time or ET (01:00 am GMT, 06:30 am IST).

The significance of the debate and its timing can be ascertained from the fact that early voting will begin in quite a few states just days after the televised debate. The battle is so intense that even a small faux pas could result in a major swing in either direction.

The encounter is particularly crucial for Kamala Harris as latest opinion polls have suggested that more than a quarter of likely voters across the United States feel they do not yet know enough about the Vice President, in contrast to former President Donald Trump.

THE BATTLE

The globally televised debate offers Kamala Harris, a former prosecutor, the chance to make her case and corner Donald Trump, whose felony convictions, outspoken backing for supporters convicted of the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol and frequent falsehoods all offer plenty of fertile ground.

In the last few weeks, Donald Trump has also indulged in personal attacks on Kamala Harris, included racist and sexist insults.

Kamala Harris, 59, who enjoys a significant advantage among women voters according to the most recent polls, is expected to press Donald Trump on reproductive rights after he made a number of seemingly contradictory comments recently on abortion rights.

Donald Trump, 78, will meanwhile try to corner Kamala Harris, the current vice-president on issues like the economy, immigration, and inflation.

The ABC News debate is scheduled to last for 90 minutes and will be held without an audience. There are also some established rules for the debate.

THE CANDIDATES, THE PREPARATION

Kamala Harris is America’s first female, Black and Indian-American Vice President. Ms Harris arrived in Philadelphia a day before the debate after isolating in a hotel in Pittsburgh for five days amid intense practice sessions.

Donald Trump’s team has claimed that he has taken a more relaxed approach ahead of his seventh presidential debate, choosing to arrive in Philadelphia just hours before and keeping his preparations limited.

The debate will certainly see a contrast in styles of both candidates, but is likely to be a quiet one with the rules stating that the two candidates’ microphones will be muted when they are not speaking. This was done on the Trump team’s request.

While Donald Trump has been part of six previous Presidential debates, this would be the first one for Kamala Harris.

The 90-minute debate will take place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Invited To Christmas At Princess Diana's House

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle Invited To Christmas At Princess Diana's House

Over the years, Prince Harry has frequently visited the estate.

New Delhi:

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly been invited to spend Christmas at Althorp House, the childhood home of his late mother, Princess Diana. The invitation came from Harry’s uncle, Charles Spencer, as the couple has not spent the festive season in the UK since 2018.

“Charles [Spencer] has invited Harry, Meghan, and the children to Althorp this Christmas. It’s far too early to say whether they will take him up on it, but the offer is there if they want it,” a source revealed, according to The Express.

If the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, along with their children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet – decide to travel from their California home to England, it would mark Meghan’s first return since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022. The couple has also yet to receive an invitation from the royal family to celebrate Christmas at Sandringham. The source added that it is unlikely Harry and Meghan would attend even if invited.

Since stepping down from royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry has maintained close ties with his maternal family, the Spencers. His bond with them was evident when he attended his uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes’ funeral last month. While both Harry and his brother Prince William were present, the estranged siblings sat separately, as per reports.

The trip also saw Harry staying at Althorp House, the final resting place of Princess Diana. Over the years, Harry has frequently visited the estate, which holds deep personal significance for him. Earlier this year, he reunited with Diana’s brother Charles Spencer and sister Lady Jane Fellowes during the 10th anniversary of his Invictus Games.

According to former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond, Harry has kept in touch with his aunts and uncle, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, Lady Jane Fellowes, and Charles Spencer, 9th Earl Spencer. The Spencer family has been a constant source of support for Harry, who has faced scrutiny and criticism since stepping back from royal duties.

Ajit Doval Headed To Moscow As PM Modi Tries To Broker Russia-Ukraine Peace

PM Modi visited Russia and Ukraine in the past two months and met its leaders Putin and Zelensky

New Delhi:

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval will be travelling to Moscow this week to hold discussions aimed at resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict, sources have said. This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited both Russia and Ukraine in the past two months and met its leaders Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.

Shortly after his trip to Ukraine and his meeting with President Zelensky, the Prime Minister spoke to President Putin over the phone on August 27. A Russian Embassy statement said that during the phone call, Prime Minister Modi informed President Putin about his recent visit to Kiev and stressed India’s commitment to bring about a settlement for Ukraine by political and diplomatic means.

According to sources, it was during this phone call that the leaders decided that NSA Doval would travel to Moscow for peace talks. No details regarding the schedule of this visit are currently available.

“Vladimir Putin shared his principled assessment of the destructive policies of the Kiev authorities and their Western patrons, and went on to highlight Russia’s approaches to resolving this conflict,” the Russian Embassy said about the phone call.

The Prime Minister’s Office said the two leaders exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. “The PM shared insights from his recent visit to Ukraine. He underlined the importance of dialogue and diplomacy as well as sincere and practical engagement between all stakeholders to achieve an abiding and peaceful resolution of the conflict,” a PMO release said.

The Prime Minister reiterated India’s firm commitment to support an “early, abiding and peaceful resolution of the conflict” on his official handle on X.

Last month, the Prime Minister was in Ukraine and met its President Volodymyr Zelensky. During the meeting, the two sides discussed the Russia-Ukraine conflict and Prime Minister Modi said, “India was never neutral, we have always been on the side of peace.”

President Putin has named India among the three countries Russia is in touch with over the Ukraine conflict. “We respect our friends and partners, who, I believe, sincerely seek to resolve all issues surrounding this conflict, primarily China, Brazil and India. I constantly keep in touch with our colleagues on this issue,” Putin said.

Other world leaders, too, are of the view that India can play a key role in finding a resolution to the Ukraine conflict. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni yesterday held talks with Ukraine President Zelensky. “China and India have a role to play in resolving the conflict. What must not happen is to think that the conflict can be resolved by abandoning Ukraine to its fate,” she said, according to reports in Italian media.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict has sharply divided the world and most global powers have taken sides. New Delhi, however, has constantly called for peace, with Prime Minister Modi stressing that “this is not an era of war”.

When Prime Minister Modi travelled to Russia in July and hugged President Putin, President Zelensky had referred to a Russian missile strike that killed 37 people, three of them children. He had said it is “a devastating blow to peace efforts to see the leader of the world’s largest democracy hug the world’s most bloody criminal in Moscow on such a day”. On his recent visit to Ukraine, Prime Minister Modi embraced President Zelensky and the Ukraine leader said he and Prime Minister Modi had “honoured the memory of children whose lives were taken by Russian aggression”. “Children of every country deserve to be safe. We must make it possible,” he said.
