BJP Roasts Tejashwi Yadav Over Fish Meal Video During Navratri, He Hits Back

BJP Roasts Tejashwi Yadav Over Fish Meal Video During Navratri, He Hits Back

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav today defended his video that showed him eating fish in a helicopter after several users claimed the Bihar leader was consuming non-vegetarian food during Navratri.

Navratri began yesterday, marking a 10-day festival during which devotees follow a strict vegetarian diet. Pointing this out, several internet users slammed the former deputy chief minister for trying to provoke the Hindus.

Mr Yadav shot back today, pointing out that his post mentioned the video was from April 8, a day before Navratri began.

“We had uploaded this video to test the IQ of the BJP and Godi media followers and we were proved right in our thinking. The tweet says “Dinank” i.e. Date, but what do the poor blind followers know? At the end, Sahni ji has also mentioned about getting chilli,” said Mr Yadav.

The trolling began after the RJD leader last night shared a video of him and former minister Mukesh Sahni having a meal together in a helicopter. “Food in helicopter amidst the hustle and bustle of election! Date- 08/04/2024,” the post read.

Mr Yadav described in the video how they got only 10-15 minutes to have lunch amid an hectic election campaigning. He also showed the food he was having, which included fish and roti, sparking a debate over eating non-veg food during Navratri.

Even BJP MP Giriraj Singh chipped in, slamming Mr Yadav as a “seasonal Sanatani” while speaking to reporters this morning.

“Tejashwi Yadav is a ‘Seasonal Sanatani’ who nurtures appeasement. Many people, be it Rohingyas or Bangladeshi infiltrators, came here when his father (Lalu Yadav) was in power. They do politics of appeasement wearing the mask of Sanatan,” said the firebrand BJP leader.

Watch: Mexico Plunges Into Complete Darkness As Total Solar Eclipse Hits

Watch: Mexico Plunges Into Complete Darkness As Total Solar Eclipse Hits

Eclipse mania gripped North America on Monday as a breathtaking celestial spectacle observed by tens of millions of people offered a rare convergence of commercial and scientific opportunities — and an excuse to party.

The Moon’s shadow plunged the Pacific coast of Mexico into total darkness at 11:07 am local time (1807 GMT) and swept across the United States at supersonic speed, before it returns to the ocean over Canada’s Atlantic coast just under an hour-and-a-half after landfall.

Festivals, viewing parties, and even mass weddings were planned along the eclipse’s “path of totality,” where the Moon could be seen completely obscuring the Sun for up to a few minutes — weather permitting. Cloud cover played spoilsport over parts of Texas.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador visited Sinaloa to witness firsthand the eclipse from the resort of Mazatlan, describing the event as a “very beautiful, unforgettable day.”

Thousands gathered in Mexico City, just outside the path of totality. “These are opportunities given by Earth and nature that we must seize,” 29-year-old artist Mariana Juarez told AFP.

This year’s path of totality is 115 miles (185 kilometers) wide and home to nearly 32 million Americans, with an additional 150 million living less than 200 miles from the strip.

The next total solar eclipse that can be seen from a large part of North America won’t come around until 2044.

– ‘Freaking nuts’ –

Businesses capitalized on the excitement with special events, while hotels and short-term rentals in prime viewing locations were booked solid for months in advance.

At the Stonehenge II park in Ingram, Texas — a replica of the prehistoric arrangement of stones in England — eclipse watchers gathered from across the world, screaming and cheering at the moment of totality.

Jeni Lyn Hunter, 57, and her husband Charles Guillory, 60, had traveled from Floresville, Texas. The couple identified as “pagans”  and wore Merlin hats.

“It means a lot to me because I have stage four cancer but I’m not giving up, this is a rebirth of the Sun of life,” Hunter told AFP.

And in Russellville, Arkansas, more than 300 couples were reportedly set to exchange vows at “A Total Eclipse of the Heart” mass wedding ceremony.

Delta airlines has planned two special flights along the path, while many schools in the zone shut for the day.

– Scientific windfall –

Then there’s the science. NASA planned to launch a trio of sounding rockets before, during and just after the eclipse to measure changes caused by the sudden darkness to the ionosphere, an upper layer of the atmosphere important for long-distance radio communication.

The eclipse also offered a golden opportunity to study the Sun’s corona, the outer layer of its atmosphere which is normally hidden by the blinding light of the surface, but has an outsized impact on everything from satellites to power grids.

“There’s a few high clouds but the beauty of the corona is clearly visible,” said NASA heliophysicist Michael Kirk as the eclipse passed through Dallas. “You can see that spiky structure just poking out — It is heart-stopping beautiful.”

He was thrilled that the Sun was near the peak of its 11-year cycle, resulting in an asymmetrical corona. As the eclipse unfolded, the rugged lunar topography revealed itself in a stunning ‘diamond ring’ effect, while planets like Venus and Jupiter briefly appeared in the sky.

Startling animal behavior has been noted during past eclipses — roosters can crow as the darkness ends believing it is dawn.

In humans, eclipses trigger feelings of awe as we confront our place within the vast cosmic order. Individuals exhibit more “prosocial” feelings towards each other in the aftermath of the shared experience.

– Safety first –

Former president Donald Trump, who notoriously gazed directly at the Sun during the 2017 eclipse, attempted to capitalize on the phenomenon by releasing a new campaign ad featuring his larger-than-life head blocking out our star.

Health professionals have stressed not to follow his example, urging people to use certified eclipse glasses to prevent permanent retinal injury. President Joe Biden made fun of Trump with a social media post saying “Don’t be silly, folks.”

Only those within the path of totality can safely remove eye protection and admire the corona peeking out from behind the silhouette of the Moon for a few precious moments.

Delhi Liquor Policy Case: BRS Leader K Kavitha Denied Interim Bail

Delhi Liquor Policy Case: BRS Leader K Kavitha Denied Interim Bail

Delhi Excise Scam Case: K Kavitha was arrested on March 15 amid protests by BRS supporters.

New Delhi:

A court in New Delhi on Monday denied interim bail to BRS leader K Kavitha in the Delhi excise policy-related money laundering case.

Special Judge Kaveri Baweja dismissed the plea, saying the stage was not right to enlarge her on interim bail.

Kavitha had approached the court for interim bail, saying her 16-year-old son has exams and needs his mother’s “moral and emotional support”.

The Enforcement Directorate had opposed the submission, claiming K Kavitha destroyed evidence and influenced witnesses in the case.

The agency had alleged that K Kavitha is a key member of the “South Group”, which has been accused of paying the ruling AAP in Delhi kickbacks of Rs 100 crore in return for a big share of liquor licences in the national capital.

K Kavitha, 46, was arrested from her Banjara Hills residence on March 15 amid protests by BRS supporters.

She was then sent to seven-day Enforcement Directorate custody the next day. Her custodial interrogation was later extended by three days. She was sent to 14-day judicial custody last Tuesday.

A 500-Grave Kutch Necropolis Leads To 5,700-Year-Old Harappan Settlement

A 500-Grave Kutch Necropolis Leads To 5,700-Year-Old Harappan Settlement

Archaeologists have said the settlement site dates back to 5,700 years ago

Ahmedabad:

A necropolis with over 500 graves in Gujarat’s Kutch, first unearthed in 2018, has led a team of archaeologists to a fascinating discovery – a Harappan-era settlement going back more than 5,000 years ago.

Dr Subhash Bhandari, head of archaeology department At Krantiguru Shyamji Krishna Verma Kachchh University, said that the 2018 excavation of the necropolis near Juna Khatiya village had thrown up some key questions. “It was necessary to find out where these people stayed. This was a major question and we were looking for the answer,” he said.

This search took the team of archaeologists to Padta Bet – about 1.5 km from the burial site. “We have found a settlement on a hillock about 200 m x 200 m in size. A river flowed behind the hillock once. During our excavation at the site, we found round as well as rectangular structures where people stayed. We have also found pots, big and small, and dishes,” he said.

Dr Bhandari said the team also found semi-precious stones such as carnelian and agate, shell fragments and hammer stones at the site. “We can say that this settlement site is around 5,700 years old,” he said, adding that the settlement appears to have been populated from the early Harappan to the late Harappan era.

The team, he said, has also found remains of cows and goats. “We can say that the settlers here were involved in animal husbandry,” he said, adding that they have also found remains of a human skeleton.

Rajesh SV, assistant professor with University of Kerala and co-director of this project, told The Indian Express, “The hillock at Padta Bet may be one of the sites catering to the skeletal remains (in the burial ground) found at Juna Khatiya. Right now it suggests that this was one of the many settlements whose burial site was Juna Khatiya.”

At Padta Bet, the researchers have identified two localities with archaeological deposits. Professor Abhayan GS, HOD of Archaeology at University of Kerala, who led the excavation at Padta Bet, said it is possible that population growth led to people spreading out from one locality to the other. The other hypothesis is that they were inhabited during different periods.

On why the site of settlement has few structures, Professor Abhayan said, “This site is on a hillock, so the landscape is unstable. This could have led to the collapse of many structures over time.”

The location of the Padta Bet site, he said, was very important. “You can see the surrounding mountains and valley from here. The river flowing nearby may have been the main source of water for those living here.”

Dr Bhandari said they are now focusing on unearthing more about the link between the burial site and the settlement. “We will try to find out more about the people who lived there. This site is on a hillock, so they got a clear view of the surroundings. We will try to find out whether that was from a strategic point of view or due to the availability of water nearby. We will also try to find out their food habits. We have found stones, so we will explore if their occupation was largely pastoral or they were also into trade,” he said.

The institutions involved in the project include University of Kerala, Kachchh University, Pune’s Deccan College, Central University of Karnataka, three Spanish institutes – Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology, Spanish National Research Council, and University of La Laguna, Albion College and Texas A&M University in the US.

Official Suspended After AAP Alleges Abusive Language In Reply To Application

Official Suspended After AAP Alleges Abusive Language In Reply To Application

Kaithal:

The Haryana government suspended the Kaithal sub-divisional magistrate-cum-assistant returning officer on Saturday, a day after the AAP alleged that its application seeking permission for two poll programmes was denied with abusive language in the reply.

According to an official order, Haryana Civil Services (HCS) officer Brahm Parkash has been suspended with immediate effect.

During the period of suspension, the headquarters of Parkash will be in the office of the chief secretary to the Haryana government in Chandigarh and he will not leave the headquarters without the chief secretary’s prior permission, the order said.

The AAP had alleged that its application seeking permission for two poll events from the authorities concerned was denied with abusive language in the reply.

Taking cognisance of the matter, Parkash had ordered the suspension of five computer operators and directed police to conduct a thorough probe.

Sushil Gupta, the Haryana unit chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) who is contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha election from the Kurukshetra constituency, had on Friday said the party had sought permission for the two poll programmes on April 7.

Kaithal is located within the Kurukshetra parliamentary constituency.

“In the reply we received, in one case, it was mentioned in writing that the permission has been rejected. In another, abuses were mentioned in the column where reasons for either approval or rejection have to be given,” Gupta had said.

Nothing can be more shameful than the use of such objectionable language, he had said while requesting the Election Commission for strict action in the matter.

AAP leaders said they had applied for the permission for the April 7 programmes on the designated portal.

The Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to be held in seven phases starting April 19 and the counting of votes will be taken up on June 4.

Haryana goes to polls on May 25.
