Watch: Meet Bros Perform ‘Maadi’ Garba Song written By PM Modi

Meet Bros sang the Garba song penned by PM Modi himself.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday attended the 125th Founders’ Day celebrations at The Scindia School in Madhya Pradesh’s Gwalior. During the event, as a special gesture, the musical duo Meet Bros presented a special song for the Prime Minister. The Indian musical, comprising of brothers Manmeet Singh and Harmeet Singh – who also happened to be Scindia School alumnus, sang the recently released Garba song penned by PM Modi himself. The song is titled ‘Maadi’.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister shared the video of their performance. In the clip, he is seen smiling and enjoying the song while tapping his hand on his knee. “At @ScindiaSchool, @Meetbros sung the Garba penned by me. Incidentally, they are proud alumnus of Scindia School,” he wrote in the caption the post.

Watch the video below:

The video quickly garnered the attention of several users. In just a few hours, it accumulated over 145,000 views. In the comment section, while some praised Meet Bros for their performance, others lauded PM Modi for the lyrics of the song.

“Meet Bros are fantastic duo. Mesmerized to hear their live performance,” wrote one user. “Fantastic to see @Meetbros showcasing their talents and celebrating their Scindia School connection through Garba,” said another.

“This is heartwarming!” commented a third user. “Wow! Modi Ji, you are no less than a poet,” added another.

Notably, PM Modi shared the song – sung by Divya Kumar and composed by the Meet Bros – on YouTube and X earlier this month. The song is four minutes and 40 seconds long and is sung in Gujarati. “As the auspicious Navratri dawns upon us, I am delighted to share a Garba penned by me during the past week. Let the festive rhythms embrace everyone!” PM Modi wrote while releasing the video of the same.

‘Maadi’ is the second song penned by PM Modi. Before this, the Prime Minister also shared another Garba song, which he authored several years ago. The song, titled ‘Garbo’, is sung by Dhvani Bhanushali and composed by Tanishk Bagchi.

“Inspired by the poetic notes penned by none other than the one and only PM Narendra Modi. GARBO transports us to witness the dynamic culture of Gujarat during Navratri,” the description of the song on YouTube reads.

“Put The Team First”: Cheteshwar Pujara On Virat Kohli Slowing Down To Reach 100 | Cricket News

Indian batting icon Virat Kohli reached a new milestone in his illustrious career, notching up his 48th century in ODI cricket as India hammered Bangladesh in a World Cup 2023 match. As the cricketing fraternity celebrated Kohli’s new milestone, there were a few who wondered if Kohli slowing down to reach his hundred at the end of the game was the right move. There were moments in the match where his non-striking partner KL Rahul would even deny singles to ensure Kohli get the strike. Veteran India batter Cheteshwar Pujara, however, wasn’t happy with this approach.

“As much I wanted Virat Kohli to score that hundred, you have to keep in mind, you want to finish the game as early as possible. You want your Net Run Rate to be at the top. If you are in a position where you are fighting for the Net Run Rate, then you don’t want to look back and say ‘you could have done that’,” Cheteshwar Pujara told ESPN Cricinfo.

Pujara is of the opinion that Kohli and other Indian players should be putting the tem first. As far as personal milestones, Pujara feels it’s the mindset of the player that also matters.

“That’s where I feel that as a collective decision, maybe you have to sacrifice a bit. You want to look at the team, you want to put the team first, that’s how I look at it. You want your milestone, but not at the cost of the team. As a player, you always have a choice. But some players feel if they get a hundred, it helps them in the next game. So it depends on what kind of mindset you have,” he added.

Australia legend Matthew Hayden also opined on the subject, saying form can bite the player if he starts flirting with it.

“My initial reaction was he has earned the right to get to his hundred. You have got to be very careful in these tournaments. These things matter. The great Ian Bishop often talks about this, these things matter. The sporting gods are sinister-like, if you start flirting with that sort of form, then it can bit you. But it’s a decision that they both took. I don’t really have a problem with that.” Hayden said.

“Used Mahua Moitra’s Parliament Account To Target PM, Adani”: Businessman

“Used Mahua Moitra’s Parliament Account To Target PM, Adani”: Businessman

New Delhi:

Businessman Darshan Hiranandani, in an explosive affidavit today, claimed Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra had given him her parliament login ID to frame questions on the Adani group, which she felt was the “only way” to target Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the three-page affidavit, a copy of which is with NDTV, Mr Hiranandani confessed to a few points that are among the BJP allegations against Ms Moitra. But it does not mention the main charge against her — that she asked over 50 parliamentary questions on behalf of the Hiranandani Group to get the better of its business rival, the Adani Group.

The affidavit indicates the case was rather the opposite. That she asked for help to politically target PM Modi and use the Adani group for a smear campaign against him.

The claim is still a setback for Ms Moitra, whom the BJP wants suspended from parliament. The allegation that she handed Mr Hiranandani her parliament login ID, if proved, could comprise a breach of privilege that could bring down a suspension order against her.

Caught in the “cash-for-questions” controversy swirling around Ms Moitra, Mr Hiranandani said he was filing the affidavit since the matter involves him and has snowballed into a political controversy roping in the Parliamentary Privilege Committee and the judiciary.

Mahua Moitra thought the only way to attack PM Modi was by attacking Gautam Adani, and so she “expected support”, the affidavit read. For this, she shared her parliament login ID so he could frame the questions, Mr Hiranandani said. He went along with the idea because he thought through her, he would get support in the Opposition-ruled states.

He also claimed that Ms Moitra received support from others in this effort, including journalists, Opposition leaders and former Adani Group employees, who fed her unverified information. In this context, he named Sucheta Dalal — who has denied the allegations in a post on X — and a few others.

Mr Hiranandani also claimed the Trinamool MP was also was a “dominating” and “ambitious” person who also made a number of demands for “various favours” which he met to retain her support and their close friendship. The list included gifting her expensive luxury items, “providing support for renovation of her officially allotted bungalow in Delhi, travel expenses, holidays etc,” he wrote.

“I could ill afford to displease her,” the affidavit read. “Many a time I felt she was taking undue advantage of me and pressurising me to do things I didn’t want to, but I had no choice, because of aforementioned reasons,” he added.

Last week, the BJP’s Nishikant Dubey demanded immediate suspension of Ms Moitra, alleging that she “took bribes to ask questions” in parliament from Darshan Hiranandani to target his business rival, the Adani group, and PM Modi. Mr Dubey wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing Ms Moitra of breach of parliamentary privilege, contempt of House and criminal conspiracy.

The Hiranandani Group had lost energy and infra contract to the Adani Group and Ms Moitra’s questions were directed at perpetuating the business interests of the former, Mr Dubey alleged in his letter to Mr Birla.

His complaint has been referred by the Speaker to parliament’s Ethics Committee.

The next day, junior Union minister for Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar weighed in on the controversy and indicating Mr Hiranandani’s involvement.

“It is true that this company was actively and aggressively lobbying for Data Localization. Language used in PQ is very similar (linking need for data localization to data breaches) to that used whn the head of this company met me. I am not aware or privy to the full facts or background on this – but if it is true then its a terrible travesty and misuse of PQs,” he posted on Twitter.

While Ms Moitra has been quick to target the BJP leaders on X, formerly Twitter, over their allegations, she is yet to respond regarding Mr Hiranandani’s affidavit.

Enforcement Directorate Special Powers Challenged Again In Top Court

Enforcement Directorate Special Powers Challenged Again In Top Court

The extraordinary powers of the Enforcement Directorate will come under the scanner of the Supreme Court again with the judges agreeing to hear another batch of petitions challenging them. In July last year, the top court had upheld the powers granted to the Central agency to search, seize and arrest under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

Under the law, the Enforcement Directorate enjoys unusual powers in terms of arrest, search and seizure, attachment of properties and bail.
It does not require warrants for arrest or search and in court, the onus is on the accused to prove innocence. The agency does not have to share the ECIR (Enforcement Case Information Report) — said to be similar to FIR (First Information Report).

The gamut of powers, which have been largely criticised by the civil society and opposition parties, had received approval from the country’s highest court last year.

Rejecting all objections, the court had said that the arrests under the money laundering law were “not arbitrary”.

Money laundering not only affects the social and economic fabric of the nation, it also promotes terrorism, drug dealing and other crimes, the court said, indicating it was essential to give teeth to the ED.

The Opposition has alleged that the central agency is being used by the BJP to rein in political opponents, generating fear of arrest and harassment.

Data shows the agency’s raids in cases of alleged money laundering are up 26 times under the Modi government, but the conviction rate is low.

In the 3,010 “money laundering” searches conducted over the last 8 years, only 23 accused have been convicted, the Finance Ministry has said in Rajya Sabha.

The government has said the increased number of searches have led to increased seizures. ‘Proceeds of crime’ to the tune of Rs 99,356 crore were attached between 2014 to 2022 while only Rs 5,346 crore was attached between 2004 to 2014, the Finance Ministry has said.
