New Delhi:

This year’s big Independence Day event at the Red Fort in Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unfurl the National Flag and deliver the customary address to the nation, will feature around 1,800 ‘special guests’ as part of the government’s “Jan Bhagidari” push to encourage public participation in governance.

The ‘special guests’ invited to the Red Fort event include Sarpanches of vibrant villages, representatives from the Farmer Producer Organisations scheme, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Shram Yogis (construction workers) of the Central Vista Project, Khadi workers, those involved in construction of border roads, making of Amrit Sarovar and Har Ghar Jal Yojana as well as primary school teachers, nurses, and fishermen.

Selfie points dedicated to different schemes and initiatives of the government have also been installed at 12 locations across the national capital.

“As part of the celebrations, an online selfie contest will be conducted by Ministry of Defence on MyGov portal from August 15-20. People are encouraged to take selfies at one or more of the 12 installations and upload them on MyGov platform to take part in the contest. Twelve winners, one from each installation, will be selected on the basis of the online selfie contest. The winners would be given prize money of Rs 10,000 each,” a government release said.

The Indian Army is the coordinating service at the Red Fort this year.

“Major Nikita Nair and Major Jasmine Kaur will assist the Prime Minister in unfurling the National Flag,” the release said.

As soon as the National Flag is unfurled by the Prime Minister, flower petals will be showered at the venue by two Advanced Light Helicopters Mark-III Dhruv of the Indian Air Force in the Line Astern Formation.

PM Modi on Sunday changed his profile picture on his social media handles to ‘Tiranga’ (Indian flag) ahead of Independence Day celebrations, and also urged citizens to change the Display Picture (DP) of their social media accounts and extend support to this “unique effort”.

“In the spirit of the #HarGharTiranga movement, let us change the DP of our social media accounts and extend support to this unique effort which will deepen the bond between our beloved country and us,” he tweeted.

Earlier on Friday, the PM urged the people to participate in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign from August 13 to 15 this year.

PM Modi said that the Indian flag symbolises the spirit of freedom and national unity and urged the people to upload their photographs with the Tiranga on the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ website.

“The Tiranga symbolises the spirit of freedom and national unity. Every Indian has an emotional connect with the Tricolour and it inspires us to work harder to further national progress,” he tweeted.

“I urge you all to take part in the Har Ghar Tiranga movement between 13th to 15th August. Upload your photos with the Tiranga here… https://harghartiranga.com,” he added in his tweet.

Listen To Indian Muslims’ “Mann Ki Baat”: Jama Masjid Shahi Imam To PM Modi

Listen To Indian Muslims’ “Mann Ki Baat”: Jama Masjid Shahi Imam To PM Modi

“The people of one faith are being openly threatened,” said Ahmed Bukhari. (File)

New Delhi:

Jama Masjid’s Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari on Friday expressed concerns over the “storm of hatred” in the country, and urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to listen to the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ of Muslims.

Citing recent incidents like the Nuh riots and the killing of four persons by a railway police jawan on a running train, Ahmed Bukhari suggested in his Friday sermon at the historic mosque that PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah hold dialogue with intellectuals from the community.

“I have been compelled to speak due to the existing situation in the country. The situation in the country is worrisome and a storm of hatred is posing grave danger to peace in the country,” Ahmed Bukhari said.

“You say your ‘Mann Ki Baat’ but you also need to listen to the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ of Muslims. The Muslims are troubled due to the prevailing conditions and worried about their future,” Ahmed Bukhari said, referring to PM Modi’s monthly radio programme.

The Imam of Jama Masjid alleged the law is proving to be “weak” in dealing with hate and communal violence.

“The people of one faith are being openly threatened. Panchayats are being held where boycott calls for Muslims and ending trade and business with them was proclaimed. There are 57 Islamic countries in the world where non-Muslims also live but do not face any threat to their lives or livelihood,” Ahmed Bukhari said.

He lamented that the “relationship” between the Hindus and Muslims were “endangered”. “Why this hatred in India? Was the freedom won by our ancestors for this day? Will the Hindus and Muslims now live separately?.” Ahmed Bukhari said it’s in the hands of the government to control the situation.

“I want to say to the prime minister and the home minister to be generous and talk to the Muslim intellectuals. I want to ask you on behalf of the Muslims of the country to talk to us, we are ready,” he said.

Ahmed Bukhari suggested the Centre could hold a meeting with the members of Muslim community to “save the country” from the prevailing “storm of hatred”.

New Delhi:

The memo for Shah Rukh Khan’s latest AMA session on X (formerly called Twitter) was clear – SRK was to answer questions pertaining to his upcoming film Jawan. Some users, however, didn’t get the memo and attempted to troll the actor during the session. A user tweeted, “Sir jawan hone ki ek umar hoti hai par aapki umer to bahut jada ho gai hai (Sir, there is an age to be young but your age is a bit too much).” SRK’s epic reply, “Accha kiya yaad dila diya….ek aur yaad rakhna…bewakoof hone ki koi umar nahi hoti….ha ha ( Good that you reminded me…Always remember…There is no age to be foolish. Haha).” Mic drop.

See SRK’s reply here:

Earlier on Thursday, a user wrote, “Sir jee ye Zinda Banda song aap me bilkul suit nahi kiya. Next song kab aayegi (Sir this Zinda Banda song doesn’t suit you at all. When will the next song be out).” Leave it to Shah Rukh Khan to always come up with the best replies and so he did. “Maaf karna bhai. Next wala tumhare size ka suit banunga! Pant Pyjama tum khud le lena (Forgive me brother, next time, I will make a suit of your size. Get your own pants and pyjamas though).”

Shah Rukh Khan kickstarted the session with these words on Thursday, “So many things to feel happy about today….feel I should spread some part of it to you all. Let’s do #AskSRK for a few minutes. Ready ahhh! #Jawan”

SRK will next be seen in Jawan. Directed by Atlee and produced by SRK and Gauri Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment, Jawan is slated to release on September 7, this year in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

“Your Ideology To See India Divided”: J Scindia Slams Ex Boss Rahul Gandhi

“Your Ideology To See India Divided”: J Scindia Slams Ex Boss Rahul Gandhi

Jyotiraditya Scindia was speaking in Lok Sabha during the no-confidence debate

New Delhi:

Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia today tore into the Opposition, mocking the INDIA bloc and saying those who brought the no-confidence motion do not have confidence in it.

He also responded to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s verbal attacks on Prime Minister  Narendra Modi yesterday. “Yesterday, Rahul Gandhi said that for the Prime Minister, Manipur is not a part of India. This Prime Minister has connected the Northeast with the world, he has a close relationship with the Northeast. The ideology of seeing India divided is yours, not ours,” said Mr Scindia, a former Congress leader known to be close to Mr Gandhi.

“I have spent 20 years in Parliament, but I have never seen something like this. The man on country’s highest post, the Prime Minister who resides in the hearts of 140 crore Indians, the words used for him by the Opposition. I believe they will have to apologise before the people of the country, if not before Parliament,” he said in Lok Sabha during the debate on the no-confidence motion against Narendra Modi government.

“This no-confidence motion is not about Manipur, it is a pretext under which they are tying to bake their political cakes. The Prime Minister made a sensitive statement on the Manipur situation outside Parliament, but they are stubborn that he must speak inside the House,” the Civil Aviation Minister said.

Home Minister Amit Shah, he said, kept saying that he was ready for a discussion, but the Opposition disrupted Parliament proceedings for 17 days.

Mr Scindia questioned why former Prime Ministers PV Narasimha Rao and Dr Manmohan Singh “took a vow of silence” during earlier incidents of violence in Manipur in 1993 and 2011, respectively. “If this is not two-faced politics, politics of convenience, what is?”

Taking a swipe at RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha, he said, “In I.N.D.I.A, there is a professor who talks about morality and values, but his party set records in corruption. This is their character,” he said.

As Opposition MPs started staging a walkout in protest, Mr Scindia said, “The people of the country have shown them the way out, now they are exiting Parliament too.”

He also took a dig at AAP, which was born out of the anti-corruption movement during the UPA regime, for tying up with the Congress. He said Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Congress leader in Lok Sabha, accused Trinamool Congress of political violence and corruption in West Bengal. “Today, the Congress, Trinamool and Left have joined hands. This is their reality,” he said.

He also took a swipe at Lalu Prasad Yadav’s RJD and Nitish Kumar’s JDU coming together. “They talk of saving the Constitution, they must first say if they can save their ideals,” he said, adding, “Their hearts don’t meet, their parties have united.”

Man Who Supplied Weapons To Kill Sidhu Moose Wala Detained In US

Man Who Supplied Weapons To Kill Sidhu Moose Wala Detained In US

Dharmanjot Singh Kahlo supplied weapons to kill Sidhu Moose Wala

New Delhi:

In a big breakthrough in Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder case, a wanted international arms dealer was detained by the police in the United States, sources told NDTV.

Dharmanjot Singh Kahlon was detained in California and is closely associated with gangsters Goldy Brar and Lawrence Bishnoi, sources added.

The two gangsters are also accused in the murder case. While Brar is believed to be hiding in Canada, Bishnoi is lodged in the Bathinda central jail. Kahlon supplied weapons that were allegedly used by Goldy Brar in Sidhu Moose Wala’s murder.

Sidhu Moosewala, 28, was shot dead on May 29 last year in Punjab’s Mansa, a day after the state government had curtailed his security cover.

The government will soon get in touch with the FBI to extradite Kahlon to India, sources in security agencies said.

The arms dealer, who is from Punjab’s Amritsar, is accused of smuggling AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated weapons.

The accused is wanted in a case filed under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and a lookout notice was already issued. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell, the Punjab Police and the anti-terror agency NIA were on the hunt for Kahlon.

Gangster Sachin Bishnoi told the Counter Intelligence Unit that the arms dealer in the US supplied weapons to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Kahlon, who was hiding in the US, was associated with gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya, who made him get in touch with Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, sources said. He supplied weapons to Lawrence Bishnoi and Bambiha gangs.

Sachin Bishnoi, who is an accused in the murder case, was recently extradited to India from Azerbaijan. Sachin is a relative of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
