India Pakistan Attack LIVE: 2 Explosions Heard In Srinagar, 32 Airports Closed For Civilian Flights

India Pakistan Attack Live Updates: A blackout was enforced and sirens went off after artillery firing and explosions were heard in Jammu this evening. Explosions were heard in Rajasthan’s Barmer, Pokhran and Jaisalmer. Drones were spotted in several parts of Punjab. The tension between the two countries has affected air travel in India, with 32 airports being closed for civilian flight operations till May 15.

Meanwhile, Pakistan has closed its airspace to all traffic, hours after India accused it of using civilian aircraft as shields amid drone attacks. Pakistan did not close its airspace yesterday and allowed civilian aircraft to operate, while it sneakily launched Turkish-made drones at Indian cities on Thursday, the Indian government said in a briefing on Friday.

Pakistan’s armed forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire western border on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday, which were “effectively repulsed”, the Indian Army has said.

Besides, the Pakistani troops resorted to “numerous ceasefire violations” along the Line of Control in Jammu & Kashmir and, in return, got a “befitting reply,” it added.

The developments came amid increasing hostilities between the two countries, initially triggered by the Pahalgam terror attack. India has pointed at Pakistan’s role in the attack, a charge dismissed by the neighbouring country.

On Friday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh conducted a comprehensive review of national security with the top military leadership and held discussions with top officials. A high alert was sounded in Delhi, and all city government employees’ leaves have been cancelled. Several district administrations in Punjab have issued orders to enforce blackouts during night hours. Around 27 airports in various parts of the country have been shut.

India on Wednesday, under the codename ‘Operation Sindoor’, unleashed 24 missiles in 25 minutes on nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) in response to the Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people. In the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, it foiled Pakistan’s attempt to engage a number of military targets across 15 cities in northern and western India using drones and missiles.

India thwarted a terrorist infiltration attempt in Jammu and Kashmir.

Seven terrorists were killed during the operation in the Samba sector.

Pakistan Rangers provided cover fire during the infiltration from Dhandhar.

New Delhi:

India foiled an infiltration attempt last night and killed seven terrorists in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan Rangers were helping them infiltrate by firing across the border from Dhandhar post, said the Border Security Force (BSF). India’s military action also caused damage to the Pakistani post.

The group of terrorists was detected by the surveillance grid during the intervening night of May 8 and 9 while infiltrating the Samba Sector, said the BSF. Follow Live Updates here

“Alert troops of BSF, neutralised the infiltration bid, killing at least seven terrorists and causing extensive damage to the Pak Post Dhandhar,” the force said, sharing a video of the destruction of the military post.

This follows a pattern of how the Pakistani military has been helping the terrorists infiltrate the Indian border and exposes Pakistan’s reality as an epicentre of global terrorism. India has repeatedly accused Pakistan of providing a safe haven to the terrorists.

The infiltration attempt follows a barrage of failed aerial strikes aimed at military bases and cities on the Indian side of the border and the Line of Control.

The military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were specifically targeted, and so were several cities in Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Punjab. But all missiles and drones sent by Pakistan were neutralised. No loss or casualty was reported.

Pakistani troops then resumed firing at Indian posts and villages near the border and the LOC. Indian troops gave a befitting reply, destroying several Pakistani Army posts.

The civil administrations had enforced a blackout all night in cities near the border, like Jammu, Srinagar, and several places in Punjab and Rajasthan.

In the morning, air sirens went off in Chandigarh after a warning from the local Air Force Station. Residents were alerted of a “possible attack,” and they were asked to be indoors and away from the balconies.

At least 24 airports have also been shut to ensure the safety of travellers.

Paytm Owner, CEO, Brother Settle Stock Options Case, Pay Rs 2.8 Crore

Paytm Owner, CEO, Brother Settle Stock Options Case, Pay Rs 2.8 Crore

New Delhi:

One97 Communications Ltd, owner of the Paytm brand, its CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma and his brother Ajay Shekhar Sharma on Thursday settled with markets regulator SEBI a case pertaining to the company’s Employee Stock Options (ESOPs) by paying a total amount of Rs 2.8 crore.

As a part of the settlement, Vijay Sharma will not accept any fresh ESOPs from any listed company for a period of 3 years, according to an order passed by SEBI. In addition, SEBI has directed One97 Communications (OCL) to cancel ESOPs granted to the two brothers. Accordingly, ESOPs of 2.1 crore and 2.23 lakh granted to Vijay and Ajay respectively were cancelled.

Last month, Vijay Sharma voluntarily surrendered 2.1 crore shares worth about Rs 1,800 crore, One97 Communications stated in a regulatory filing. Further, OCL and Vijay Sharma remitted Rs 1.11 crore each, while Ajay Sharma paid Rs 57.11 lakh to settle the matter.

Further, SEBI disgorged Rs 35.86 lakh from Ajay Sharma with respect to the sale of 3,720 OCL shares obtained upon exercise of the ESOPs. The order came after OCL and the two brothers approached SEBI proposing to settle the pending proceedings through a settlement order “without admitting or denying the findings of fact and conclusions of law”.

The matter relates to the eligibility of Vijay Sharma to receive Employee Stock Options of One97 Communications. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had conducted an examination in the matter of OCL and two brothers regarding the eligibility of Vijay Shekhar Sharma to receive ESOPs of the company.

The regulator noted that OCL had granted 2.1 crore ESOPs to Vijay Sharma in October 2021 and 2.26 lakh ESOPs to Ajay Sharma in May 2022. Following the examination, a Show Cause Notice (SCN) was issued to them in February 2024. In its show cause notice, Vijay Sharma was allegedly disclosed as the promoter of One97 Communications in the annual returns of the company filed with the Registrar of Companies prior to the FY 2020-21.

There was no material change in his rights or influence over the management of the company but Vijay Sharma declassified himself as non-promoter on July 12, 2021 just before filing of IPO documents by OCL on July 15, 2021.

Further, Vijay Sharma allegedly created such a scheme through arrangement of transfer of a portion of his equity in OCL to a family trust — created a few days prior to filing of offer documents for IPO by OCL– controlled by him so that he could continue to exercise control over more than 10 per cent equity of OCL directly and indirectly and circumvent the provisions of the SEBI (Share Based Employee Benefits and Sweat Equity) norms for getting arbitrarily huge number of ESOPs to himself to the detriment of public shareholders.

OCL allegedly allowed such actions by Vijay Sharma to circumvent norms. Also, Vijay Sharma had special rights by virtue of his position as founder of OCL and he was also the Managing Director of OCL. Hence, it is alleged that he was in a position to influence the decision-making of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee while approving grant of ESOPs to himself and his brother Ajay.

It is further alleged that ESOPs granted to Ajay Sharma were under the influence of Vijay Sharma as just 10 months ago, the ESOPs granted to Ajay were cancelled citing that the Companies Act prohibits issuance of ESOPs to promoter Group and SEBI’s definition of promoter group includes family members.

OCL and Vijay Sharma allegedly made incorrect disclosures in the offer documents by disclosing Vijay as a non-promoter public shareholder. Vijay Sharma had not provided the necessary disclosures required to be given by the promoter of a company, including promoters’ contribution and lock-in period, profile of the promoter and declarations to be submitted to the stock exchanges, details of payment or benefit to promoter, SEBI alleged.

“If I Can Do Anything To Help…”: Trump On India-Pak Tensions

“If I Can Do Anything To Help…”: Trump On India-Pak Tensions

Washington:

Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, US President Donald Trump said if he could do anything to help, “I will be there” and wants the escalating conflict between the two countries to “stop”.

“Oh it’s so terrible. My position is I get along with both. I know both very well and I want to see them work it out. I want to see them stop and hopefully they can stop now. They have gone tit for tat so hopefully they can stop now. I know them both, we get along with both the countries very well.

“Good relationships with both and I want to see it stop. And If I can do anything to help I will be there,” Trump said in response to a question on the ‘war’ between India and Pakistan.

Earlier, Trump said he hopes that the hostilities will end “very quickly”.

“It’s a shame, he said, adding, “We heard about it just as we were walking in the doors of the Oval (Office). I guess people knew something was going to happen based on a little bit of the past.” “They’ve been fighting for a long time. They’ve been fighting for many, many decades and centuries, actually, if you really think about it,” Trump said.

Asked if he has any message for the countries, he said, “No, I just hope it ends very quickly.” India launched Operation Sindoor early Wednesday hitting nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab in retaliation for the terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that killed 26 people.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Army spokesman Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Chaudhry said 31 people were killed and 57 others injured in the missile strikes launched shortly after midnight on cities in the Punjab province and PoK, and firing on the Line of Control.

Operation Sindoor Live Updates: 70 Terrorists Killed In 24 Missile Strikes At 9 Terror Camps In Pakistan

Operation Sindoor Live Updates: 70 Terrorists Killed In 24 Missile Strikes At 9 Terror Camps In Pakistan

The government has shared visuals, sourced from Pakistani social media accounts, of ‘Operation Sindoor’ – the tri-services overnight precision strike on nine terrorist camps in Pak and Pak-occupied Kashmir. The strikes were India’s first military response to the April 22 terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, in which 26 people were killed at a tourist hotspot.

In one video, a crowd of people, many on bikes, is gathered on a busy road. It is the middle of the night but, on the horizon, there is a large orange glow and smoke can be seen in the distance.

Seconds later, there is a whistling sound and a massive detonation as an Indian missile, possibly either the air-launched, long-range SCALP or the Hammer, a stand-off smart bomb, hits one of its targets. The impact of the strike causes the man filming the video to stagger back.

A large and bright orange fireball follows, sending plumes of acrid smoke mushrooming out in all directions, and people can be heard praying in Arabic and shouting in panic.

Another video is from the dashboard of car as it drives past police check posts.

The driver can be heard conversing with a passenger. And just as one person utters the word ‘bomb’, a second explosion and deadly orange fireball can be seen in the distance.

Soviet-Era Spacecraft To Reenter Earth After 53 Years In Orbit: Report

Soviet-Era Spacecraft To Reenter Earth After 53 Years In Orbit: Report

A former Soviet spacecraft is predicted to crash back to Earth this week. Weighing approximately 453 kg, Kosmos 482 will reenter the planet’s atmosphere around May 10, CNN reported.

Launched in 1972, Kosmos 482 malfunctioned on its way to Venus. An issue with a timer resulted in an early engine shutdown, trapping the Soviet spacecraft in Earth’s orbit for over half a century.

With the aircraft now set to crash down, scientists are unsure which part of it will reenter the Earth. Some think it will be the probe, also known as the “entry capsule.”

The majority of space debris and meteors, which frequently veer toward a crash-landing on Earth, break apart due to friction and pressure as they strike the planet’s dense atmosphere while travelling thousands of miles per hour.

Cosmos 482, being a Soviet reentry capsule, is expected to be equipped with a substantial heat shield. It was designed to survive the extreme temperature and pressure of landing on Venus.

The spacecraft “might well survive Earth atmosphere entry and hit the ground,” wrote Dr. Jonathan McDowell, an astrophysicist and astronomer at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, on his website.

He added, “The risk of the object hitting people on the ground is likely minimal, and there’s no need for major concern, but you wouldn’t want it bashing you on the head.”

According to scientists, Cosmos 482 may land within 52 degrees north or south of the equator. Even if the area contains a large portion of the ocean, entire countries are still vulnerable to an uncontrolled spacecraft crashing down on their territory.

Since a lot of the Earth is covered by oceans, scientists are optimistic that it will land in water. However, no one is certain about it.

If Cosmos 482 hits dry land, it’s important that onlookers avoid touching the debris. Dangerous fuel leaks or other damage to humans and property might occur from the outdated spaceship.
