Massive fire breaks out at KSR Fashions in Ameerpet; Hyderabad Traffic Police issue urgent advisory for SR Nagar route | VIDEO

Hyderabad fire: Hyderabad got hit with some serious fires on Friday. Two different blazes ripped through commercial places in Ameerpet and Masab Tank. It took a big effort from fire engines and emergency crews to get everything under control. Luckily, though the property damage looks bad, no one was hurt at either spot. In Ameerpet, a huge fire hit a helmet bazaar. It panicked shopkeepers and customers. With how flammable helmets are, you can imagine how fast the flames spread to other shops.

The Fire Service sent seven engines to put it out. They did their best to keep the fire from jumping to nearby buildings. One fire official said, “No casualties for now,” and added that they’re cordonning off the area while they look into what caused it.

Just when things seemed like they might slow down, another fire struck in Masab Tank. This time, it was a warehouse. Flames and thick smoke poured out. To handle it, three fire trucks and the Disaster Response Force showed up to fight the flames and make sure nobody got trapped.

They kept the fire from collapsing the whole building. It was intense, but the teams managed to gain control.

Three firefighting vehicles sped to the scene to fight the thick smoke and flames coming from the warehouse. Because of the risky situation, local police and specialized teams from the Disaster Response Force, or DRF, were sent to handle the perimeter, evacuate nearby people, and help with firefighting. The firefighters got the situation at Masab Tank under control before the structure gave way.

Safety worries are ramping up following a recent fire at a furniture shop in Hayathnagar. This happened just weeks ago and came right before the fires on Friday. On May 14th, another intense fire hit a furniture shop in Hayathnagar, freaking out the entire local area.

Two fire engines were dispatched to tackle that blaze, which took hours to put out. Early guesses say it began because of an electrical short circuit.

Inspectors plan to do thorough checks at all three spots to understand exactly what caused the fires and figure out the total damage and financial loss.

‘Cops threatening our leaders’: Mamata Banerjee leads massive protest in Kolkata over post-poll violence

‘Cops threatening our leaders’: Mamata Banerjee leads massive protest in Kolkata over post-poll violence

In a sharp attack on the West Bengal government, former West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC Chairperson Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday accused the police under West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari of threatening TMC party leaders and forcing them to resign or otherwise face arrest. She also accused the government of targeting opposition leaders.

Mamata Banerjee alleges police intimidation

Addressing the public at a rally in Kolkata, the TMC supremo said, “Cops are threatening our leaders. CP Chandannagar called our leader and asked him to resign; otherwise, he would be arrested. Our leaders are being arrested by police in false cases.”

Notably, Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday held a protest at Kolkata’s Rani Rashmoni Avenue over attacks on party leaders, including her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, and other issues.

She also claimed that threats were being issued to her party’s MLAs.

“MLAs are being threatened by going door to door. We have recording conversation related to an alleged attack attempt on Abhishek Banerjee, in which statements such as “maar-maar” can be heard. The residents of Sonarpur have said that goons were brought in 24 hours in advance,” IANS quoted her as saying.

Sending a defiant message against efforts to weaken her party, she said, “Those who are trying to break TMC, I would like to say, ‘Ishwar Allah Tero Naam Sabko Sanmati De Bhagwan’.”

Attack on Abhishek Banerjee

This development comes days after Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee was allegedly attacked on May 30, 2026, in Sonarpur while visiting the family of a local party worker who had died in post-poll violence.

During the visit, he was reportedly heckled by a crowd that shouted slogans and threw eggs, stones, and slippers. Amid the chaos, Banerjee was given a cricket helmet by his security personnel and party workers to protect his head.

The TMC accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of being behind the incident, while BJP leaders described it as a spontaneous expression of public anger. Following the clash, the police arrested five people in connection with the alleged attack on Abhishek Banerjee, with investigations underway.

Kalyan Banerjee also raises concerns

Meanwhile, TMC MP Kalyan Banerjee has also alleged that he survived an “attempt to murder” near Chanditala Police Station while submitting a deputation.

Earlier on Monday, Mamata Banerjee had strongly condemned the attack on her nephew Abhishek Banerjee, calling it “shocking.”

She had said, “The way you assaulted the MP of the second-largest opposition party is shocking. Doctors were called, yet hospitals were allegedly instructed not to provide treatment. What kind of absurd and authoritarian conduct is this?”

From stone-pelting to anti-drug slogans: Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam scripts new story

In a significant shift in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, thousands of people joined the “Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Padyatra” led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. The event, which replaced images of past protests with a collective pledge for a drug-free society, saw enthusiastic participation from students, traders, government officials, and local residents as part of the ongoing 100-day “Nasha Mukht Jammu and Kashmir” campaign.

From scenes of violent protests to unified anti-drug slogans, Kulgam witnessed a markedly different atmosphere on Monday. Crowds that once gathered for demonstrations came together instead for a foot march against drug abuse.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led citizens from across Kulgam district in South Kashmir, an area once known for violent protests and separatist influence, in the ‘Drug-Free Jammu and Kashmir Padyatra’. The march underscored the administration’s resolve to combat the drug menace and transform the campaign into a genuine people’s movement.

Schoolchildren carrying anti-drug placards, along with college students, traders, government employees, women, and elderly residents, lined the streets. Many arrived early in the morning to participate in the event.

What unfolded on the streets of Kulgam was once considered unimaginable: instead of shutdowns and stone-pelting protests, people of all ages marched with anti-drug banners and raised slogans against substance abuse.

Addressing the gathering, Lieutenant Governor Sinha said the campaign has touched every heart in Jammu and Kashmir with the shared goal of making every village and town drug-free.

“This campaign belongs to the people. Parents, teachers, religious leaders, and young volunteers have stood shoulder to shoulder with the administration. The road ahead is long. The fight against drugs will require sustained effort, constant vigilance, and complete unity. We must remain steadfast, encourage our youth, protect our families, and strengthen our communities,” he said.

Sinha added, “I had the honour of leading the ‘Drug-Free J&K’ Padyatra in Kulgam today and addressing the public meeting. This movement has connected every heart across Jammu and Kashmir with the shared purpose of making their villages and towns drug-free.”

The 100-day “Nasha Mukht” campaign has now crossed its halfway mark. According to official figures from the first 50 days, the drive has yielded significant results: 923 FIRs have been registered against drug traffickers, more than 1,000 smugglers and peddlers have been arrested, and over 55 traffickers have been detained under PIT-NDPS provisions.

Additionally, the administration has cancelled 668 driving licences and recommended the cancellation of 124 passports. Authorities have vowed to continue strict action against all those involved in drug-related activities.
