Armed Robbers Storm Tanishq Showroom In Bihar, Loot Jewellery Worth Rs 25 Crore

In a brazen daylight robbery, a group of masked men stormed a Tanishq showroom in Bihar’s Arrah on Monday, holding customers and staff at gunpoint. The thieves made off with jewellery worth ₹25 crore along with an undisclosed amount of cash. The incident occurred on Monday shortly after the showroom opened at 10:30 am, when 5-6 men burst into the store, overpowering security personnel and taking hostages. CCTV footage shows the armed men ordering customers and staff to raise their hands as they carried out the heist and methodically packed the stolen items into bags before making their escape.

The daring heist occurred at the Tanishq branch located in Gopali Chowk, within the jurisdiction of the Arrah police station. According to Kumar Mrityunjay, the showroom manager, the thieves made off with a substantial haul, including cash, gold jewellery such as chains, necklaces, and bangles, as well as some diamond pieces.

Security guard Manoj Kumar recounted the ordeal, stating that the showroom had opened at 10 a.m. on Monday, ahead of Holi.

“Six criminals arrived in a car, parking it across the street. As per showroom policy, we do not allow groups of more than four to enter at once, so we permitted them entry in pairs. When the sixth person arrived, he held a pistol to my head, snatched my weapon, and assaulted me. Then, they started filling their bags with jewellery,” he said.

Rohit Kumar Mishra, an employee of the store, told IANS that the staff hid behind the counters to save their lives when the situation got tense and chaotic.

Following the incident, the Superintendent of Police, Bhojpur instructed all station heads to conduct thorough vehicle checks. To aid in identifying the perpetrators, CCTV footage and photographs were disseminated via the district’s WhatsApp group. Acting on this information, the station head, accompanied by their team, began checking vehicles at the Babura Choti bridge. During this operation, six suspicious men on three motorcycles were spotted speeding towards Doriganj.

When signalled to stop, they accelerated and attempted to flee. A high-speed chase ensued, during which the perpetrators opened fire on the police, prompting the officers to return fire in self-defence. Two sustained injuries during the crossfire and are currently undergoing medical treatment. The police successfully recovered two pistols, 10 cartridges, stolen jewellery from the Tanishq showroom, and a Pulsar motorcycle.

The company is assisting the police in assessing the losses and investigating the case. Meanwhile, showroom employees have also alleged a delay in police response.

“This is a lapse by the authorities. It was morning time, not evening or night. We were calling the police, but did not receive any response,” reported PTI quoting Kumar Mrityunjay. He added that two of their executives were injured as they were hit on the head by a revolver.

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Dandiya Celebration After India's CT 2025 Triumph Is What Team Spirit Is About | Cricket News

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Dandiya Celebration After India's CT 2025 Triumph Is What Team Spirit Is About | Cricket News

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma broke into crazy celebration after India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the Champions Trophy 2025 final. It was a nervy win despite India chasing a target of 252. India have now won two ICC titles in two years – first the 2024 T20 World Cup and then the 2025 Champions Trophy. Rohit Sharma scored his first half-century in an ICC event final as India chased down the target with one over to spare. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s celebration went viral.

A swift half-century from skipper Rohit Sharma, fine knocks by Shreyas Iyer and fine spells from spinners, in particular Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, helped an all-round India seal their third ICC Champions Trophy title, beating New Zealand by four wickets in Dubai on Sunday. This is India’s third ICC Champions Trophy title, having shared one with Sri Lanka in 2002 and securing the second under ‘Captain Cool’ MS Dhoni in 2013.

During the run-chase of 252 runs, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave India a fine start once again. Rohit was the aggressor against pacers, including 14 runs against Nathan Smith in eighth over, with two fours and a six. India reached the 50-run mark in 7.2 overs.

At the end of 10 overs in the powerplay, India was 64/0, with Rohit (49*) and Gill (10*) unbeaten.

Rohit reached his half-century in 41 balls, with five fours and three sixes. The Hitman continued collecting boundaries against spinners as India reached the 100-run mark in 17 overs.

The 105-run stand between Rohit and Gill ended with Gill being removed by Mitchell Santner thanks to a stunning catch from Glenn Phillips at covers. Gill was gone for 31 in 50 balls, with a six. India was 105/1 in 18.4 overs.

Michael Bracewell got the big wicket of Virat Kohli for just one run. India was 106/2 in 19.1 overs. Spinners continued to bring Kiwis back in the game, with Rachin Ravindra removing Rohit for 76 in 83 balls, with seven fours and three sixes. India was 122/3 in 26.1 overs.

Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel stitched a partnership for India, with Iyer finding some timely boundaries and taking India to the 150-run mark in 32.5 overs.

Kiwis made a comeback as Santner removed Iyer for 48 in 62 balls, with two fours and two sixes, with a fine catch from Rachin near short fine leg. India was 183/4 in 38.4 overs, needing 69 in 69 balls.

KL Rahul and Axar helped India cross the 200-run mark in 40.5 overs. However, India’s run-chase encountered another obstacle, with Axar throwing away his wicket for 29 (in 40 balls, with a four and six) to Bracewell with a fine catch by William O’Rourke. India was 203/5 in 41.3 overs.

Hardik and KL brought back India into the equation with some fine strike rotation and odd boundaries, leaving India with 32 runs in 30 balls.

Hardik(18) holed it back to Kyle Jamieson while trying to pull it away. Ravindra Jadeja stuck the winning boundary to seal a memorable win for India.

Earlier, India’s spinners put on a stellar show to restrict New Zealand to 251/7 in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy on Sunday in Dubai. Despite a late counter-attack from Michael Bracewell, the Blackcaps struggled to accelerate in the middle against India’s disciplined bowling attack.

After winning the toss, New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner opted to bat first. The Kiwis got off to a flyer, with openers Will Young and Rachin Ravindra putting on a strong partnership. They brought up 50 runs inside seven overs before Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Young for 15, breaking the opening stand at 57.

Ravindra continued his attacking approach, scoring 37 off 29 balls, including four boundaries and a six, but was cleaned up by Kuldeep Yadav as New Zealand found themselves at 69/2 in 10.1 overs. Kane Williamson, who scored a century in the semi-final against South Africa, couldn’t make an impact this time, falling to a brilliant caught-and-bowled effort by Kuldeep for just 11.

New Zealand reached 100 in 19.2 overs but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Tom Latham (14) was trapped lbw by Ravindra Jadeja, while Glenn Phillips (34) was bowled by Chakravarthy, leaving the Kiwis at 165/5 in 37.5 overs.

Daryl Mitchell played the anchor role, scoring a patient 63 off 101 deliveries before falling to Mohammed Shami in the 46th over. Shami, despite being expensive (1/74 in 9 overs), claimed his ninth wicket of the tournament. Skipper Santner (8) was run out by Virat Kohli, adding to New Zealand’s troubles.

However, Michael Bracewell’s unbeaten 53 off 40 deliveries, featuring three fours and two sixes, provided a late flourish, ensuring New Zealand reached a competitive total of 251/7.

India’s spinners were the key architects of the bowling performance. Varun Chakravarthy (2/45) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/40) were the standout performers, while Jadeja (1/30) and Axar Patel (0/29 in 8 overs) kept the pressure on with their economical spells.

With 252 runs required for victory, India will look to capitalize on the slow conditions and chase down the target to secure their third ICC Champions Trophy title.

Pak 'Scholar' Behind Kulbhushan Jadhav Kidnapping Shot Dead In Balochistan

Pak 'Scholar' Behind Kulbhushan Jadhav Kidnapping Shot Dead In Balochistan

A Pakistani “scholar” accused of helping Pakistan’s ISI spy agency in kidnapping former Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav from Iran, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the restive Balochistan region on Friday night. Mufti Shah Mir was a leading religious scholar in Balochistan who had survived two earlier attempts on his life, reported local media.

He was ambushed by gunmen riding motorcycles while leaving a local mosque in Turbat after his night prayers, police said. He was shot multiple times at point blank range and died at the hospital on Friday.

Mir was a member of the fundamentalist party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) who worked as an arms and human trafficker under the cover of a scholar, according to The Times of India. He was also close to the ISI. Reports suggest that he often visited terror camps in Pakistan and helped terrorists infiltrate into the Indian territory.

Two other members of Mir’s party were shot dead last week in Khuzdar, the third largest city in Balochistan.

The province has been witnessing deadly clashes and enforced disappearances of civilians, including activists, journalists, and politicians, allegedly by state forces. At least 18 securitymen and 23 terrorists were killed during clashes in this region earlier this year.

Kulbhushan Jadhav Case

Jadhav, who ran a business in Iran’s Chabahar after taking premature retirement from the Navy, is on death row in Pakistan after being convicted of spying by a military court in 2017. India condemned the verdict and accused Islamabad of not allowing a fair trial.

His execution was halted in 2019 with the International Court of Justice asking Pakistan to review his conviction and grant him consular access.

He was kidnapped from near the Iran-Pakistan border in 2016 and handed over to the Pakistani army. He is currently in the Pakistani prison. Mullah Omar Irani, a member of Jaish al-Adl who played a key role in kidnapping Jadhav, was allegedly shot dead by ISI operatives in Turbat in 2020.

In 2021, Pakistan adopted a bill to allow Mr Jadhav appeal his conviction, but India said the law had the same “shortcomings” of a previous legislation and “failed” to create an atmosphere that will ensure a fair trial in this case.

Probe Agency Seizes Business Jet At Hyderabad Airport In “Ponzi Scam” Case

Probe Agency Seizes Business Jet At Hyderabad Airport In “Ponzi Scam” Case

Hyderabad:

The Enforcement Directorate has seized a business jet parked at the Hyderabad airport as part of a money laundering investigation against a Hyderabad-based company and its promoters who allegedly duped numerous investors in a Rs 850 crore Ponzi “scam”, official sources said on Saturday.

The money laundering case stems from a Cyberabad police FIR against Falcon Group (Capital Protection Force Pvt. Ltd.), its CMD Amar Deep Kumar and some others, the sources said.

It is alleged that the Falcon Group “collected” Rs 1,700 crore from investors for high returns through a “fraudulent” invoice discounting investment scheme.

Rs 850 crore, out of the total funds, was re-paid leaving a total of 6,979 investors unpaid, according to the sources.

Kumar, the sources said, fled the country using this jet.

He or his company could not be contacted immediately for a response on the charges.

Officials from the ED’s Hyderabad office found that the 8-seater business jet ‘N935H Hawker 800A’ (owned by a company of Kumar) landed at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport located in the Shamshabad area on Friday, the sources told PTI.

A search of the jet, purchased for about USD 1.6 million (about Rs 14 crore) in 2024, was conducted by ED officials on Friday under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and they also recorded the statement of the crew and some “close associates” of Kumar present there, the sources said.

The business plane, owned by Kumar’s private charter company named Prestige Jets Inc, was seized after the search, they said.

The agency believes that the jet was purchased from the “proceeds of crime” of the alleged Ponzi scheme.

The ED sought a general declaration about the jet’s movement from the Customs department after which it was found that Kumar along with another person left the country onboard the said aircraft on January 22.

Cyberabad Police has arrested the vice president and director of the company as part of its investigation, the sources said.

“Don't Know How To Respond”: India Coach Sitanshu Kotak Loses Cool Over 'Advantage' Query | Cricket News

“Don't Know How To Respond”: India Coach Sitanshu Kotak Loses Cool Over 'Advantage' Query | Cricket News

Just two days remain before the ICC Champions Trophy final between India and New Zealand begins in Dubai. While the Indian team arrives into the title-decider with zero defeats to their name, New Zealand’s one and only loss came against their opponents in the final. Despite the fact that India have played near-perfect cricket to reach the final, a large chunk of credit for their journey so far, is being given to the venue in Dubai.

India, unlike other teams in the Champions Trophy, have played all of their matches at a single venue – the Dubai International Cricket Stadium – while others have had to fly to multiple cities. It’s this reason that has made many assert that the Indian team had an ‘undue advantage’ in comparison to others in the Champions Trophy.

Team India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, however, shut down the talks in the press conference on Friday, saying it’s not like the conditions in Dubai were changed after the Champions Trophy draw was made.

“I don’t understand what advantage there is and what advantage we have gotten. There is nothing about the advantage. The draw was decided a long time ago. When India have won four matches, then people are thinking we have been given an advantage,” Kotak told reporters in Dubai.

“I don’t know how to respond to this. At the end of the day, you have to play good cricket. If you don’t play well, you can’t complain. If you play well, there is no point saying there was some advantage. We are practicing here, we are playing matches there. Obviously, different wickets. That is how the draw is. Nothing else can be done. It’s not like conditions were changed after coming here,” he added.

For Kotak, there remains a simple rule behind winning games, which is to play good cricket. Those who haven’t been able to do so, are now complaining.

“I don’t know what advantage. The tournament’s draw is like this from the start. So, nothing has changed. If people think all this after us reaching the final, that’s tough, man. That is how the game goes; we have played as per the draw. There is no advantage. You have to play good cricket to win,” he said.

Video: 14-Year-Old Forcibly Married, Physically Carried Off By Husband

Video: 14-Year-Old Forcibly Married, Physically Carried Off By Husband

Bengaluru:

A teen roughly carried off by a man, her cries and shrieks carrying over the barren fields. While another man and woman follow, they make no attempt to come to her aid. This video from Karnataka’s Hosur is now being widely circulated on social media and has led to the arrest of all four adults.

The girl is a 14-year-old girl from Thimmathur, a small village in the Thottamanju mountain area near Tamil Nadu’s Hosur. After studying till Class 7 in a local school, she was staying at home – as happens so often in the country’s rural pockets.

But on March 3, her family married her off Madesh, a 29-year-old labourer from the mountain village of Karnataka’s Kalikuttai. Her protests went unheard.

The wedding took place in Bengaluru.

After returning to her hometown of Thimmathur, the girl expressed dissatisfaction with the marriage again and refused to go to her in-laws’ house. She also voiced her protests to her parents and relatives.

But her protests fell on deaf ears again. Madesh and his elder brother Mallesh, 38, forcibly carried off the girl from a relative’s house to Kalikuttai village.

Visuals of what amounts to a kidnapping was recorded on cellphone by onlookers and uploaded on social media, where it went viral.

The All-Women Police station in Denkanikottai is now investigating the matter. A formal complaint has been filed by the girl’s grandmother.

On Wednesday, the police arrested Madesh, his brother Mallesh, and the girl’s mother Nagamma. Earlier today, two more arrests were made – the girl’s father and Mallesh’ wife.

Cases have been filed against all of them under various sections pf POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act) and Child marriage Act. All of them face two years in jail and a find that may extend to Rs 1 lakh.

The girl is now living with her grandparents.

Marriage of a woman under the age is 18 is illegal and under the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, and is considered null.

The act also provides punishments for various offences for allowing or conducting child marriages between minors or marrying minors with adults. Despite this, child marriage is still widespread across the nation, especially in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Andhra Pradesh .

As per data available in 2023- 2024, the authorities had received information about 180 child marriages in Karnataka; 105 such marriages were prevented and in the remaining 75 instances, police cases were registered.
