The International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday released “Feel the Thrill”, the official song of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, setting the tone for the tournament and celebrating the excitement and global passion of T20 cricket.  

The energetic track has been composed and performed by acclaimed Indian music composer and singer Anirudh Ravichander, providing a sonic heartbeat for the much-anticipated tournament, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.

Official song sets the vibes for T20 World Cup 2026

Picking up with the fierce spirit – “when nations collide, action isn’t watched, it’s lived” – the song upholds the competitive nature of the tournament. The song blends energetic beats with lyrics reflective of the passion, drama and emotion behind T20 cricket.  

With powerful lyrics such as “this is where national pride swings with every shot/Where passion hits as hard as the ball”, the official track is set to resonate with fans from across the world.

 

 

“ICC’s pinnacle events are global cultural extravaganzas bringing together the best of lifestyle, entertainment, community and experiential diversity, with a compelling athletic spectacle at their heart,” said ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta.

“The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is uniquely competitive, thrilling and expressive, where moments turn into life-long memories for players and fans alike.

The official song for the tournament aspires to bring this spirit to life, using its music to connect fans, celebrate diversity and turn the event into a shared worldwide celebration of the best that our sport offers,” he added.

Anirudh Ravichander reflects on the song

Reflecting on the emotions behind the track, Indian music composer and singer Anirudh Ravichander said, “Every cheer, every silence, every heartbeat connects in the same tune when it comes to cricket.

It’s a feeling, an emotion. I’m glad to be associated with the Feel the Thrill campaign and official song. This is our attempt to bring the global fans together in a spirited unity up and above the fierce on-field rivalry that is set to unfold across the subcontinent”

Stage set for high-octane cricket 

Promising high-octane, fast-paced action for a month, the 2026 edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup marks the return of the tournament to the sub-continent, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, two nations with rich cricketing history and past World Cup success.

India will start the tournament as defending champions, chasing history to become the first host nation to lift the trophy at home. With tickets starting from just Rs 100 and LKR1000, fans are in for a thrilling experience.  

The matches will be played across eight venues in seven cities – the Narendra Modi Stadium (Ahmedabad), MA Chidambaram Stadium (Chennai), Arun Jaitley Stadium (New Delhi), Wankhede Stadium (Mumbai), Eden Gardens (Kolkata), R. Premadasa Stadium (Colombo), Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground (Colombo) and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (Kandy).

UAE unveil squad for T20 World Cup 2026; Muhammad Waseem to lead; check complete team, schedule and more

UAE have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to be played in Sri Lanka and India from February 7. Star batter Muhammad Waseem will lead the 15-member contingent at the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup.

Notably, UAE claimed their place in the 20-member tournament after a win over Japan in their Super Six clash at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia & East Asia-Pacific (EAP) Qualifier in Oman.

While Lalchand Rajput is the head coach, the coaching staff is joined by former Pakistan international Yasir Arafat, who will be the fast bowling coach. Zimbabwe’s Stanley Chioza will serve as team’s fielding coach for the tournament.

The Asian side has previously participated twice in the marquee event with group stage finishes both in 2014 and 2022. 

Dhruv Parashar, Mayank Kumar included in UAE squad

Allrounder Dhruv Parashar and opening batter Mayank Kumar have been called up to UAE’s squad for the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The duo of Dhruv and Mayank replace Basil Hameed and Rahul Chopra from the squad that is currently playing Ireland in a two-T20I series. 

Hameed and Chopra have been left out after making single-digit scores in the defeat in the first T20I against Ireland in Dubai on Thursday. Hameed also conceded 28 in his two overs.

USA’s campaign at T20 World Cup 2026 

The UAE are facing-off against Ireland for a two-match T20I series, before heading to the 2026 T20 World Cup. They’ll feature in two warm-up fixtures against Nepal (February 3) and Italy (February 6), before beginning their campaign against New Zealand on February 10 in Chennai. 

UAE will then travel to Delhi where they play Canada (February 13), Afghanistan (February 16) and South Africa (February 18), who are also drawn in Group D in the mega event.

WPL 2026 Mumbai Indians vs Gujarat Giants19th Match Highlights: महिला प्रीमियर लीग 2026 (WPL 2026) के 19वें मुकाबले में गुजरात जायंट्स और मुंबई इंडियंस की टीमें वडोदरा के बीसीए स्टेडियम में आमने-सामने थीं. मुकाबले में गुजरात ने 11 रन से जीत दर्ज करते हुए प्लेऑफ में जगह बना ली है. इसके साथ गुजरात प्लेऑफ में पहुंचने वाली दूसरी टीम बनी. इससे पहले रॉयल चैलेंजर्स बेंगलुरु ने डायरेक्ट फाइनल के लिए क्वालीफाई किया था. मुंबई के लिए रन चेज में हरमनप्रीत कौर ने 48 गेंदों में 8 चौके और 4 छक्कों की मदद से 82* रन बनाए, लेकिन उनकी पारी टीम को जीत नहीं दिला सकी.

हालांकि हार के बावजूद मुंबई के पास प्लेऑफ में जगह हासिल करने का मौका है. मुंबई ने अपने सभी लीग मैच खेल लिए हैं. अब टीम को टूर्नामेंट के आखिरी लीग मैच पर निर्भर होना पड़ेगा, जो 01 फरवरी, रविवार को दिल्ली कैपिटल्स और यूपी वॉरियर्स के बीच खएला जाएगा. मुंबई अपनी उम्मीदों को जिंदा रखने के लिए चाहेगी कि यूपी वॉरियर्स की टीम दिल्ली कैपिटल्स को हरा दे.

मुकाबले का हाल 

बात करें मैच की, तो मुकाबले में गुजरात ने टॉस जीतकर बल्लेबाजी करने का फैसला किया और 20 ओवर में 4 विकेट पर 167 रन बोर्ड पर लगाए. टीम के लिए कप्तान एश्ले गार्डनर ने सबसे बड़ी पारी खेलते हुए 28 गेंदों में 7 चौके और 1 छक्के की मदद से 46 रन बनाए. इस दौरान मुंबई के लिए अमेलिया केर ने सबसे ज्यादा 2 विकेट चटकाए.

रन चेज में मुंबई इंडियंस फ्लॉप 

फिर रन चेज के लिए मैदान पर उतरी मुंबई की टीम 20 ओवर में 7 विकेट पर 156 रन ही बना सकी. टीम के लिए कप्तान हरमनप्रीत कौर ने सबसे बड़ी पारी खेली. हरमनप्रीत के अलावा टीम की दूसरी कोई भी बल्लेबाज 30 रन का आंकड़ा भी पार नहीं कर सकी. सिर्फ कप्तान को छोड़कर बाकी सभी बल्लेबाजों का फ्लॉप होना टीम के लिए हार का बड़ा कारण बना. इस दौरान गुजरात के लिए सोफी डिवाइन और जॉर्जिया वेयरहैम ने सबसे ज्यादा 2-2 विकेट चटकाए.

Legendary New Zealand batter Ross Taylor believes the Blackcaps will remain competitive at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and expects Finn Allen and Tim Seifert to form the opening combination for the side in the mega event. 

Allen recently won the Big Bash League (BBL) with Perth Scorchers and became the leading run-getter in the competition by amassing 466 runs at a strike-rate of 184.18. He has linked up with New Zealand ahead of the final T20I against India, to be played in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday.

“I think New Zealand are always competitive when it comes to ICC World Cups. I think they’ve had ideal preparation playing against India in these conditions. Obviously, it wasn’t a great start losing 3-0 in the first three matches, but I think coming back in Vizag and winning that game will give them good confidence.

“Obviously, India are going to be one of the favourites, so to get and play against them in their own conditions will put them in good stead for the tournament. It’s going to be a no-brainer. I think it’s probably going to be Finn Allen and Seifert to open the batting. It will be interesting who they bat at number three, whether it’s Rachin or Conway,” Taylor told IANS on Friday.

New Zealand’s best result in the Men’s T20 World Cups has been a runners-up finish in the 2021 edition and Taylor felt either Conway or Rachin Ravindra can be in the playing eleven.

“I think it’s a great thing that they’re playing here. But I think you can only play one of them. Conway makes a team if he’s opening the batting, but if he’s not opening the batting, then I think that only one of him or Rachin can bat it through,” he said.

On New Zealand’s recent injury concerns, Taylor, who played 106 T20Is for the Blackcaps, felt the Mitchell Santner-led side has enough depth to cover up for it and pointed to the importance of spin in deciding the side’s progress in the upcoming mega event.

“They’ve got Ben Sears who’s just coming over as a replacement. Ferguson and Henry might be leaving halfway through on paternity leave. The depth of the squad has been good for so long, but spin is going to play a big part in this World Cup.

“Whoever they have as opening the bowling will be important, but I think not only how they play spin with the bat, but also how they bowl spin will be a key component in terms of how well they go in this World Cup,” he added.

Taylor is currently in Goa for the World Legends Pro T20 League and he reflected on the chance of reconnecting with former teammates and rivals from his active international cricket playing days.

“I’ve loved it. I’ve never been to Goa before. The food’s been fantastic, the people have been fantastic, the scenery and then obviously the cricket. It’s great to play in these tournaments as an old player, to share the dressing room with players that you never shared the dressing room with, but also playing against legends that you used to play against a lot, but now don’t play against them that often, but it’s nice to play against them at these events around the world.”

“It is good. I always loved coming to India and the Indian public has always been good to me, so I want to bring the family on holiday to India in the coming years. Hopefully Goa is one of those destinations when we do decide it’s nice to come here and explore the place and hopefully can explore it a little bit more in the coming days,” he concluded.

PT Ushas husband V Srinivasan passes away at 64; PM Modi expresses condolences

V Srinivasan, husband of Indian Olympic Association president and Rajya Sabha MP PT Usha, passed away on Friday at the age of 64. Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the athlete and expressed his condolences on the passing away of her husband.

Sreenivasan, who had served as an inspector in the CISF, married PT Usha in 1991. They have a son named Ujjwal Vignesh.

Srinivasan collapsed at his residence in Thikkodi Perumalpuram in Kerala in the wee hours of Friday. He was rushed to a nearby private hospital but could not be saved.

Usha was not at home at the time of the incident. She is on the way home after attending the parliamentary session.

Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minister of Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju also expressed his condolences via an X post.

“Deeply saddened to learn about the passing away of Shri V. Srinivasan ji, husband of Rajya Sabha MP & President of the Indian Olympic Association, @PTUshaOfficial ji. My heartfelt condolences to Usha ji & the bereaved family. Prayers for strength in this difficult time,” Rijiju shared on X.

Srinivasan was a kabaddi player in his younger years. He played a pivotal role in the establishment and management of the Usha School of Athletics in Koyilandy, helping nurture the next generation of Indian track stars.

He was treasurer of the school and also the backbone of the activities of the school. His encouragement, support, consolation, and love made PT Usha march forward with courage to materialise her dream.

Despite his sporting background and professional career, Srinivasan maintained a low public profile throughout his life.

He was widely regarded as a pillar of support to Usha during her illustrious athletics career and later during her transition into public life and sports administration.

After she was appointed president of the Indian Olympic Association and became a Rajya Sabha member, Srinivasan continued to stay away from the public glare, focusing on family and personal commitments.

Close associates describe him as disciplined, soft-spoken and deeply committed to the values of sport and public service.

गौरतलब है कि सिनर तीन बार ग्रैंड स्लैम के फाइनल में अल्कराज को हरा चुके हैं. इस रिकॉर्ड को देखते हुए सिनर को मैच से पहले एकतरफा विनर माना गया. लेकिन अल्कराज ने सबको गलत साबित करते हुए जीत अपने नाम की.
