Powering the Motorola Moto G14 is an octa-core Unisoc T616 processor with a 2GHz clock speed, paired with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.


For photography, the smartphone comes with a dual rear camera setup that includes 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies and video calls, Moto G14 features an 8MP front facing camera.

Instant messaging app WhatsApp is set to get a new feature, ‘voice chats’, similar to Discord’s voice channel.


The upcoming feature will let group participants engage in audio chats but it is different from the existing voice call or voice notes.


Currently, the feature is available to a few users on the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.16.19.


Voice chats are similar to group calls, but instead of ringing everyone in the group, it will send a push notification.


While the beta version has capped the number of participants at 32, the number may change once the feature is officially rolled out.


How do ‘voice calls’ work?


Like Twitter Spaces and Discord voice channels, users can join or leave whenever they like. When a user starts a voice chat, the group icon in the chat list will change to a waveform icon and show a ‘connect’ button. Clicking on the button will let a user join the real-time discussion with a dedicated interface.


Voice chats will remain active for an hour once everyone leaves, but group members can initiate whenever they want.


In Voice chats, users are not required to add others manually. Voice chats will be encrypted end-to-end but won’t appear as a full-screen call-style notification.


WABetaInfo stated that voice chats may not be available for groups with less than 32 participants, but WhatsApp might change the minimum participant limit later.


The messaging app has been testing new features such as the ability to log in via email, send video messages, and a faster way to transfer chats between phones without relying on Google Drive.


‘Send for admin review’ feature


Last week, WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.16.18 released a new feature for improving group moderation. The app has included a new toggle in the group settings section, called ‘Send for admin review’, allowing group members to send messages to a group’s admin for review.


Currently, users can report messages sent by other users to WhatsApp, but now the group admins can delete messages to improve moderation on the app. 


Once this feature is enabled, users can report specific messages sent to the group to admins so that they can be removed.

YouTube, one of the largest video streaming platforms, has enabled high-quality 1080p viewing experience on its web interface for its premium subscribers, according to a report by TechCrunch. This comes months after the enhanced bitrate option was made available for premium members on mobile devices. The platform had initially rolled this out as an experiment in February before launching it for iOS users in April.

According to YouTube‘s blogpost on this new update in April, this new feature allows users to experience an “even deeper visual quality”. Aside from this, premium members can download videos to view offline, user progress in videos is saved so they can pick up where they left off even after switching devices, and even watch videos with other members through Google Meet.


YouTube had recently increased its premium plan to $13.99/month from the previous $11.99 in the United States. However, the plans seem to have stayed the same for Indian subscribers. In India, one month plan costs Rs 139 while auto-renewal plans cost Rs 129 per month. There are also three-month (Rs 399) and annual (Rs 1159) plans with family and student price variations also available.


According to the TechCrunch report, the company is also testing a higher bitrate for live 1080p content.

This comes after the platform added new features to its Shorts to attract more creators onto the platform. These features include six new tools such as collab for remixing videos in side-by-side format, suggestions for remixing videos and replying to comments with a Shorts video and saving them to playlists, among others. The company is also testing a mobile-first vertical live experience for creators to get discovered on the Shorts feed.

Accidents happen, but Samsung Germany’s accident may have spilled the beans on the OneUI 6 beta before the company was ready for the big reveal.


The company apparently posted and then deleted an announcement about the upcoming beta on its German press site. It may not have been up very long, but that did not stop some viewers, such as those at 9to5Google, from getting in on the available details of the upcoming update before the page was taken down.


From the looks of it, one of the major changes Samsung is bringing in OneUI 6 is a revamped Quick Settings menu.


When expanded, the menu would feature larger buttons for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with the remaining toggles and elements now sectioned off and boxed in for a more unified look across the Quick Settings UI.


The UI has empty space, with the time and date remaining towards the top of the display, and there also appear to be additional options for the brightness slider allowing quick access to the eye comfort shield and dark mode toggles.


According to 9to5Google, users will be able to rapidly access the full Quick Settings menu by swiping down from the upper right corner of the display. Additionally, there would be new customisations available such as different backgrounds for different modes and a new camera widget that allows users to specify storage options for certain photos.


Meanwhile, the post did not appear to detail many changes with One UI 6, so it is possible that it was not ready to be published just yet as Samsung finalises the details of the update. It did, however, clarify that the beta would be accessible just for the Galaxy S23 series in the US, Korea, and Germany.
