Samsung Galaxy S23+ outperforms competitors with top features, technology

The competition in the premium smartphone market in India has intensified and Samsung, which leads the premium segment in the country, has brought the Galaxy S23 series to up the ante with top-of-the-game technology and features.

Demand for the locally-produced Galaxy S23 series has increased two times from the previous year, according to the company.

We used the Galaxy S23+ for a week and here is what we think about the smartphone.

The S23+, like previous Samsung flagship models, offers an impressive display and plenty of RAM for smooth performance.

It comes with a slightly larger 4,700mAh battery as compared to the previous S22+ smartphone which offers a 4,500mAh battery.

By eliminating the unnecessary framing around the lenses and allowing them to stand out on the back of the smartphone, the company has made some smart adjustments to the camera design.

As a result, the Galaxy S23+ looks and feels more premium.

The smartphone features a 6.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with 120 Hz of display rate and houses a triple rear camera setup (15MP+10MP+12MP).

With the most powerful and effective platform yet, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, Samsung and Qualcomm enhanced the experience for creators and gamers.

The smartphone comes with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, offering durability for long-term use.

If you prefer watching movies on your smartphone, you will love this device’s amazing display.

The device performs well in games and provides amazing graphics, and also functions smoothly in daily use.

Considering how important selfie cameras are to modern communication, the device introduces fast autofocus and the first Super HDR selfie camera, jumping from 30fps to 60fps, for noticeably improved front-facing images and videos. Selfies will never be the same after this.

The company has also updated its S23+ front camera with a 12MP sensor compared to the 10MP sensor from the previous generation.

It also comes with the Expert RAW application which enables DSLR-style image shooting and editing in RAW and JPEG.

The S23+ comes equipped with Dual Pixel autofocus technology along with Nightography, which allows shooting from the front camera even in low lighting conditions.

The Dual-Pixel autofocus technology also ensures 60 per cent faster focus from the front camera.

Moreover, the device’s doubled optical image stabiliser (OIS) angles ensure that videos are stable in low light or other circumstances where there would typically be a blur.

Conclusion: The Galaxy S23+ is a great device for everyone who wants a premium experience. Overall, the smartphone is well-designed, smooth-running and capable of taking high-quality pictures.

Facebook increases reels’ length to 90 seconds, adds new features: Meta

has extended the maximum length of reels to 90 seconds from the current 60 seconds and also added new features for reel creators to improve their creativity and audience, its parent company Meta announced on Saturday.

“Wanted to make sure you saw the new features we have announced for Reels – as part of Meta’s ongoing investment in helping make Reels the best place for creators to grow their creativity, audience, and career,” Meta said.

has rolled out ‘Grooves’ for reels creators, which will allow them to automatically align and sync the motion in the video to the beats of their preferred songs in the reels and this will be applied through visual beat technology. The new features also include ready-made reels from memories – for easily sharing favourite memories on reels on a tap of a button. Additionally, the creators can use trending templates for the reels.

Reels are the fastest-growing format for the company, as reshares of Reels have more than doubled on Facebook and in the last six months. Reel plays across Facebook and have also more than doubled over the last year.

The firm launched reels for iOS and Android in more than 150 countries across the globe in February 2022. It also offered ways to help creators to earn money, new creative tools and more places to watch and create Facebook Reels. This was in response to the growing popularity of the short-form video hosting app TikTok, which offers hosting services for videos ranging from three seconds to 10 minutes.

“We’re constantly adding new features, like the ones we’re announcing today, to provide more ways for creators to easily express themselves and get discovered on Facebook, where we now reach 2 billion daily activities,” Meta said.

Instagram, the Meta-owned picture sharing platform increased the maximum length to 90 seconds in June 2022. The other features of Grooves and templates have also been previously made available for reel creators.

Moderation assurances from developers; Apple approves ChatGPT-driven app

Moderation assurances from developers; Apple approves ChatGPT-driven app

Apple has reportedly approved an AI chatbot-driven app after content moderation assurances from its developer, as concerns rise about ChatGPT going bonkers and even generating inappropriate content for some users.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Apple approved the app called aBlueMail’ following assurances from its developer that it has content moderation tools.

Apple scrutinised whether a feature in the software that uses AI-powered language tools “could generate inappropriate content for children”.

According to Ben Volach, co-founder of the app maker, Blix Inc., he told Apple that “its update includes content moderation”.

He suggested that “the company should make public any new policies about the use of ChatGPT or other similar AI systems in apps”.

The BlueMail app is still available for users aged 4 and older, said the report.

Apple curates and reviews each app before approving those for its App Store.

However, there have been concerns regarding ChatGPT use.

Since its release, researchers have been grappling with the ethical issues surrounding its use, because much of its output can be difficult to distinguish from human-written text.

AI chatbot ChatGPT-driven Bing search engine triggered a shockwave recently after it told a reporter with The New York Times that it loved him, confessed its destructive desires and said it “wanted to be alive”, leaving the reporter “deeply unsettled.”

Cyber-criminals are also using ChatGPT to create Telegram bots that can write malware and steal data.

Tech giant Apple now offers ‘Depth and Water Seal Test’ for Watch Ultra

Tech giant Apple now offers ‘Depth and Water Seal Test’ for Watch Ultra

Tech giant Apple has announced that it is offering “Depth and Water Seal Test” for Ultra, if its owner wants to check whether its depth gauge and seals are working properly.

“The Depth and Water Seal Test determines whether your watch’s depth gauge and seals are working properly at the time of the test,” the tech giant said in a support page on Friday.

First, the tech giant will perform a visual inspection for any cracks or damage to the exterior of the Watch Ultra, and if it does not have any visible damage, then the company will test its system water seals and depth gauge.

According to the iPhone maker, users might want to send their Watch Ultra for the test if they did like to check the functionality of the depth gauge in the watch or if they might have caused unseen damage to it.

Owners will receive their watch (or a replacement) an average of seven to ten business days after it is sent to the company.

“If your Ultra has unseen damage, the Depth and Water Seal Test may leave the watch inoperable and may result in a replacement fee if the device is not covered by the Limited Warranty, or by any applicable consumer protection laws or regulations,” the tech giant said.

Streaming platform YouTube Music gives update on ‘Listening Room’ programme

Streaming platform YouTube Music gives update on ‘Listening Room’ programme

Google-owned music streaming platform YouTube Music has provided an update on its ‘Listening Room’ programme, for which the company opened and then quickly closed applications in January.

Listening Room offers users early access to new YouTube Music features and concepts, and also provides an opportunity to leave feedback via a Discord group, reports 9To5Google.

After opening the applications, the company stopped accepting submissions after nearly 24 hours “due to an overwhelming response”.

However, now, the platform sent an email to users who had applied and didna¿t get in.

“We received an unexpected, huge volume of applications, and unfortunately, we’re only able to support a small number of people in this group,” the company wrote in the email.

“We won’t be able to invite you into the YouTube Music Listening Room this round. If we are able to expand this program in the future, we will reach out to let you know about the opportunity,” it added.

The requirements to be selected for the programme included — user needs to be a music lover, use YouTube Music as their primary music streaming service for a year, give regular feedback through conversations and polls on Discord, and agree to NOT share any information, i.e., taking screenshots, pictures, or recordings of conversations or early features with anyone outside of the Discord group.
