Bharti Airtel announces non-standalone 5G Plus services in Gurugram

Bharti Airtel on Tuesday announced that its 5G Plus services have gone live in Gurugram.

The Airtel 5G services are currently operational at DLF Cyber Hub, DLF Phase 2, MG Road, Rajiv Chowk, Iffco Chowk, Atlas Chowk, Udyog Vihar, Nirvana Country, Gurugram railway station, Civil lines, Ardee city, Huda city center, Gurugram National Highway and few other select locations.

Airtel said it will augment its network making its services available across the city in due course of time.

“Airtel customers in Gurugram can now experience ultrafast network and enjoy speeds upto 20-30 times faster than the current 4G speeds,” said Nidhi Lauria, CEO, Bharti Airtel, Delhi-NCR.

Airtel 5G Plus services will be available to customers in a phased manner as the company continues to construct its network and complete the roll out.

Before Gurugram, Airtel kicked off 5G services in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi.

Customers with 5G enabled devices will enjoy high-speed Airtel 5G Plus network at no extra cost until the roll out is more widespread.

Earlier this month, Bharti Airtel said it crossed the one million unique 5G user mark on its network, as the telecom operator rolls out 5G services in a phased manner.

There is no need to change the SIM as the existing Airtel 4G SIM is 5G enabled.

Airtel 5G Plus will allow superfast access to high-definition video streaming, gaming, multiple chatting, instant uploading of photos and more.

Google is reportedly planning to launch its first foldable smartphone at a price of $1,799 in May next year, alongside the Pixel Tablet, a media report revealed.

The ‘Pixel Fold’ is expected to be unveiled at the company’s annual developer conference, I/O, as it always takes place in May, according to the GSMArena report.

The new device is likely to come in two colour variants — Chalk (white) and Obsidian (black).

Some sources claimed that the Pixel Fold is expected to feature the “usual Pixel-esque performance” and the Pixel flagship camera.

“The Pixel Fold’s camera bar is not as expansive as the one in the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro, as it doesn’t go all the way to the edges,” the report said.

Microsoft suspends 4.78mn Xbox accounts over community guideline violation

Microsoft has released its first Digital Transparency Report for the Xbox gaming platform, in which it revealed that the company took proactive action against throwaway accounts that violated its community guidelines 4.78 million times within a period of six-month, usually in the form of temporary suspension.

The report, which offers details on player safety and content moderation, covers the period between January 1 and June 30 this year, reports The Verge.

It includes a variety of details, such as the number of reports submitted by players and breakdowns of various “proactive enforcements” (i.e., temporary account suspensions) implemented by the Xbox team.

“We know that Xbox is a special place for all of you. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of gaming, free from fear and intimidation, and within the boundaries you set,” Dave McCarthy, CVP of Xbox Player Services, was quoted as saying.

The data shows that Microsoft’s “proactive enforcements” have increased almost tenfold since the previous reporting period, and 4.33 million of the 4.78 million total enforcements involved accounts that had been tampered with or used suspiciously outside of the Xbox platform guidelines, The Verge reported.

These unauthorised accounts can impact players in a variety of ways, such as making cheating easier, disseminating spam, and artificially inflating friend/follower counts.

Further analysis of the data reveals that Xbox took proactive enforcement actions regarding adult sexual content 199,000 times, fraud 87,000 times, and harassment or bullying 54,000 times.

Microsoft says that Xbox Ambassadors (Xbox community members who assist other players with general support questions) were invited to preview and provide feedback on the report and that all information was collected following the company’s privacy commitment, said the report.

Samsung may launch affordable Galaxy A14 5G smartphone soon: Details here

Samsung is reportedly planning to launch its upcoming affordable Galaxy A14 5G smartphone soon.

The Galaxy A14 5G has received Bluetooth SIG certification, which brings it one step closer to its official launch, reports SamMobile.

The upcoming smartphone is expected to come with a U-shaped notch display.

It is likely to feature a triple-camera setup on the rear, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

The device is rumoured to come with a 6.8-inch LCD with a Full HD+ resolution (2,408 x 1,080 pixels).

Previous renders had revealed that the phone might only come in plain black colour, but the tech giant is expected to launch it in more colours.

The battery capacity of the upcoming smartphone is likely to be 5,000 mAh.

It is likely to feature a 50MP primary camera.

In a listing, the A14 5G carries the model numbers SM-A146U, SM-A146VL, SM-A146W, SM-A146U, SM-A146U1/DS, SM-A146P, SM-A146P/N, SM-A146P/DSN.

“All the model numbers should be different models for different markets: Canada, South Korea and the US,” the report said.

The dimensions of the new device are rumoured to be 167.7 x 78.7 x 9.3mm.

Apple TV 4K may equip binned version of A15 Bionic chip, says report

Apple’s third-generation TV 4K is reportedly equipped with a binned version of the A15 Bionic chip with five-core CPU.

Despite having a binned CPU and a fanless design, the new Apple TV is roughly 40 per cent faster and less slower than the previous TV 4K with the A12 Bionic chip, reports MacRumors.

According to the report, the iPhone maker claimed that the graphics processing unit (GPU) performance is up to 30 per cent quicker on the new Apple TV as compared to its predecessors, but there are no GPU benchmark applications for tvOS.

Last month, the tech giant had announced that the Apple TV 4K will be available in India starting at Rs 14,900.

From November 4, the device was made available in Apple stores in more than 30 countries and regions.

Microsoft Surface Laptop 5, Surface Pro 9 available for pre-orders in India

Unveiled in October, the Surface Laptop 5 and Surface Pro 9 devices are available for pre-order in India starting today, November 15. These will be available for purchase in the country from November 29. It comes in two variants, one powered by 12th Gen Intel Core processors and another by Microsoft SQ 3 5G processor co-created in partnership with Qualcomm.
