“Spiderman, Spiderwoman” Went For A Bike Ride. Cops Arrested Them

“Spiderman, Spiderwoman” Went For A Bike Ride. Cops Arrested Them

A man and woman dressed as superheroes, Spiderman and Spider-Woman, were arrested for performing stunts on a motorcycle in South West Delhi’s Dwarka, police said on Friday. The “Spiderman couple”, as police described them, were riding on a bike with no number plate or mirrors.

“Spiderman” Aditya, 20, and his friend “Spider-Woman” Anjali, 19, recorded an Instagram reel of themselves riding on the bike, titled “Spiderman Najafgarh Part 5”. In the video, “Spider-Woman” walks up to the friendly-neighborhood superhero and the two shake hands. She climbs on his bike and off they go riding on the streets of Delhi. As they zoom through, the “Spiderman couple” are seen talking to each other as they strike a pose for the camera and even throw in a dance move.

After the reel went viral, the Delhi traffic police arrested the two and issued a challan under Motor Vehicle Act.

But this wasn’t the first time the self-styled “Najafgarh Spiderman” has taken to the streets of Delhi while donning his superhero attire. The 20-year-old Najafgarh resident runs an Instagram account called Indian Spidey Official, where he posts videos of his stunts. His bio reads “Your Friendly Neighbourhood Indian Spidey” and the account has nearly 10,000 followers, with some videos getting over 70,000 likes. A quick scroll through his Instagram page shows the “Indian Spidey” playing badminton, riding a tractor and dancing on trending songs.

He has also been spotted performing at college fests, cosplay events and gathering of anime fans. His Instagram shows the wanna-be superhero has visited a Delhi school to pose with school children and was even in the audience of the National Film Awards, albeit without a costume.

IndiGo Orders 30 Long-Range Airbus A350s. India To US Non-Stop Next?

IndiGo Orders 30 Long-Range Airbus A350s. India To US Non-Stop Next?

The new planes will allow the airline to operate ultra-long-distance flights.

New Delhi:

Making its first-ever purchase of widebody aircraft, IndiGo has placed an order of 30 A350-900 jets with Airbus. IndiGo, which has a 60% share of the Indian aviation market, aims to double its capacity by 2030 and expand its network internationally.

In addition to the purchase of 30 planes, IndiGo has also signed up for purchase rights for 70 additional A350 aircraft. The new planes will allow the airline to operate ultra-long-distance flights — including possible India-US direct flights — putting it in direct competition with Air India and Vistara.

Last year, IndiGo had announced a 500-aircraft deal with Airbus, which was a record in the history of aviation, and the airline’s current outstanding order book stands at a whopping 1,000 planes.

“IndiGo agreed to place an order for 30 Firm A350-900 aircraft, which will enable IndiGo to spread its wings further and expand its network. From the various Indian metros, IndiGo will be able to connect to the world. The aircraft will be powered by Rolls Royce’s Trent XWB engine,” a statement by the airline said.

“The mission capability of this aircraft coupled with the efficiency of the Trent XWB engine will offer IndiGo unprecedented optionality as it embarks on the next stage of its wonderful journey of addressing the rapidly evolving needs of the Indian customer and our nation,” it added.

The airline has said the exact configuration of the planes will be decided later and that deliveries are expected to begin three years from now, in 2027.

IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers said, “Today’s historic moment marks a new chapter for IndiGo and will further shape the future of the airline and for Indian aviation at the same time. For IndiGo, after successfully pioneering the Indian skies with an unprecedented journey, its fleet of 30 Airbus A350-900 aircraft will allow IndiGo to embark on its next phase of becoming one of the leading global aviation players.”

“At IndiGo, we take pride in being India’s preferred airline and for offering connectivity to our customers, in and with India. This reaffirms IndiGo’s belief in, and commitment to, the growth of India, and in our strategic partnership with Airbus,” he added.

Benoit de Saint-Exupery, Airbus’ Executive Vice President (Sales), Commercial Aircraft, thanked IndiGo for placing its faith in the aircraft maker.

“This is an exciting new chapter in our close partnership with IndiGo. The airline has revolutionised Indian domestic air travel with the A320neo Family by making flying more accessible to more people. With the A350 selection, Indigo is now embarking on further opening the world to India. We will support the airline to take this pioneering and strategic step. A big thank you to the IndiGo team for putting their trust in Airbus once again,” he said.

“At Least 10 Top BJP Leaders In Queue To Join Trinamool”: Abhishek Banerjee

“At Least 10 Top BJP Leaders In Queue To Join Trinamool”: Abhishek Banerjee

“They poached two of our MPs, and we replied by taking two of their MPs,” Mr Banerjee said.

Murshidabad:

Senior Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee on Wednesday claimed that 10 top BJP leaders are keen on switching over to his party, prompting an immediate denial by the saffron party.

While conducting a road show in a Murshidabad Lok Sabha constituency, Mr Banerjee said the party will open its doors at the right moment and the “BJP will be wiped out of the state.”

“The BJP is trying to get into the game of breaking parties, but they can’t win in it. They poached two of our MPs, and we replied by taking two of their MPs, Arjun Singh and Babul Supriyo. Recently, by using Enforcement Directorate raids, they inducted Tapas Ray. At least 10 top leaders of the BJP are in the queue to join the Trinamool,” he said.

Reacting to Mr Banerjee’s claim, BJP Spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said after the elections are over, “Trinamool will disintegrate like a pack of cards.”

“These are nothing but political rhetoric out of frustration of losing in West Bengal. Once the Lok Sabha polls are over, the Trinamool will disintegrate like a pack of cards,” he said.

Former Union minister Babul Supriyo, party MP Arjun Singh and eight legislators, including national vice-president Mukul Roy, have switched to the Trinamool Congress since the 2021 assembly polls.

The Trinamool Congress came to power for the third consecutive term in the state in 2021 by winning 213 of the 292 assembly seats, while the BJP bagged 77.

No Place For Samson, Rahul: Irfan Pathan’s Bold India T20 World Cup 2024 Squad | Cricket News

No Place For Samson, Rahul: Irfan Pathan’s Bold India T20 World Cup 2024 Squad | Cricket News

As the deadline for the selection of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad nears, former cricketers are sharing their opinions about which players to pick and which to ignore. There remains a big debate on the selection of Virat Kohli for the team, owing to the chatter about his strike rate and intent. Hardik Pandya, who remains the only prominent pace-bowling all-rounder in the Indian team, is also a player whose future has been discussed intensely because of his poor all-round form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

As the chatter continues, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan shared his 15-member squad for the showpiece event which takes place in June.

Top-order:At the top of the batting order, Irfan went with Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Virat Kohli. Any of them can be used for the two opening slots while Shubman Gill, among reserves, also remains an option. In total, Irfan picked four players for the two opening spots, with Kohli and Gill also capable of playing at the No. 3 spot.

Middle-order: Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Rinku Singh and Shivam Dube take up the middle-order roles, with Hardik Pandya being the sole pace-bowling all-rounder. Though Dube also does seam bowling but he hasn’t been used as a bowler by Chennai Super Kings in the IPL yet. Surprisingly, there was no place for Sanju Samson in the team and Pant was the only wicket-keeper picked. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer were among the top players to miss out.

Spinners:Ravindra Jadeja is the only spin-bowling all-rounder in the team while Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav accompany him as spinners. Ravi Bishnoi and Varun Chakravarthy were among the notable absentees from the roster.

Pacers:In the pace bowling unit, Jasprit Bumrah had the company of Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh with him. The names of a few other players like T Natarajan, Mayank Yadav, Khaleel Ahmed etc. have also been discussed but Irfan went with the tried-and-tested combination among pacers.

Irfan Pathan’s 15-member Indian squad for T20 World Cup 2024: Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh.

Rain, Strong Winds In Parts Of Delhi Bring Relief From Sweltering Heat

Rain, Strong Winds In Parts Of Delhi Bring Relief From Sweltering Heat

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 22.6 degrees Celsius.

The national capital received a sudden spell of rain, bringing respite from the heat. The pre-monsoon rain was accompanied by strong winds, bringing down the temperature in Delhi.

The dust storm in the evening came after a scorching sunny afternoon when the temperature reached around 35 degrees Celsius.

“A dust storm followed by a thunderstorm with rain and gusty winds, with speeds ranging from 40 to 70 kmph, is expected to occur over and adjoining areas of entire Delhi and NCR within the next 2 hours,” the weather department said.

Delhi recorded a minimum temperature of 22.6 degrees Celsius, normal for this time of the year and the maximum temperature is likely to settle around 38 degrees Celsius.

Yesterday, the regional meteorological department said light to moderate intensity rain would likely occur in Delhi-NCR.

Earlier, the India Meteorological Department on Sunday said that the temperature in Delhi is expected to remain around 38 degrees Celsius in the coming 2-3 days adding that there is a possibility of light rain on Monday.

Yesterday, the temperature remained above 30 degrees in Delhi, with a cool breeze in the evening but no rain.

The Met Office has said four to eight heatwave days are expected in different parts of the country in April against a normal of one to three days. Ten to 20 days of heatwave days are expected against a normal of four to eight in the entire April-June period. The intense heat could strain power grids and result in water shortages in parts of India.

Global weather agencies, including the IMD, are also expecting La Nina conditions to develop later in the year.

El Nino conditions — periodic warming of surface waters in the central Pacific Ocean — are associated with weaker monsoon winds and drier conditions in India. La Nina conditions — the antithesis of El Nino — lead to plentiful rainfall during the monsoon season.

In a mid-April update, the IMD said India would experience above-normal cumulative rainfall in the 2024 monsoon season with La Nina conditions, expected to set in by August-September, being the dominant factor.
