On Camera, Border Force Jawan Gropes Woman In Manipur Store, Suspended

The Border Security Force has initiated an internal probe against the accused

New Delhi:

A head constable of the Border Security Force (BSF), caught sexually assaulting a woman on camera inside a grocery store in ethnic strife-torn Manipur last week, has been suspended by the border guarding force. A case has been filed against him.

The footage from a CCTV camera inside the store, shared widely on social media, showed a man in uniform and carrying an INSAS rifle – later identified as Head Constable Satish Prasad – groping the woman.

“The incident took place in Imphal on July 20 at a shop near a petrol pump. The accused has been identified as Head Constable Satish Prasad. He has been suspended and a case has been registered against him,” a senior officer told NDTV.

According to the official, the BSF has initiated an internal probe against the accused after it received a complaint. “He has been kept in close arrest and departmental proceedings have been initiated against him,” the official said.

Last week, a video of two women being paraded naked in the state’s Thoubal district before being allegedly gangraped went viral, triggering massive outrage. So far seven people have been arrested in the case, of whom one is a juvenile.

“The state police is making all efforts to identify the remaining culprits by raiding the suspected hideouts of those who have been identified,” a senior officer, in charge of the probe, said.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Police have claimed that several Zero FIRs over cases of sexual violence have been filed but there has been no progress in the probe since the victims and survivors are yet to join the investigation.

“We are also acting against those who are circulating fake news,” he said.

The state police on Monday registered a case after a video of a tragic murder of a woman by armed men in Myanmar was attributed to Manipur and circulated to incite unrest in the violence-hit northeastern state.

The Cyber Crime Police Station (CCPS) filed an FIR and initiated a probe to trace the IP addresses of those who circulated the video.

Authorities are determined to arrest those behind this “fake news” and hold them accountable for attempting to disturb public tranquility, incite violence, and disrupt law and order in a state that is witnessing an ethnic conflict.

WI vs IND Live: Spin vs Pure form!

Jomel Warrican is introduced into the attack and although the India openers are not taking any unnecessary risks, the run rate is quite comfortable for India. Both Rohit and Yashasvi look completely in control and it remains to be seen how much spin will trouble them.

Asia Cup 2023 Schedule Announced, India To Face Pakistan On This Date | Cricket News

Asia Cup 2023 Schedule Announced, India To Face Pakistan On This Date | Cricket News

The Asia Cup 2023 schedule was finally announced on Wednesday, by Jay Shah, BCCI secretary and  Asian Cricket Council (ACC) head.  This time the tournament is being played in a hybrid model, after Shah declared last year that India would not be travelling to Pakistan for the event. The tournament will begin with a match between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan, Pakistan, on August 30. The much-awaited India-Pakistan clash will take place in Kandy, Sri Lanka, on September 2. India will face Nepal in the other group stage match on September 4 at the same venue.

Pakistan will host three group stage matches and one Super Four stage match. The rest of the tournament will be played in Sri Lanka. The final will take place in Colombo on September 17.

ACC president Jay Shah tweeted out the complete schedule on Wednesday along with the message:  “I am happy to announce the schedule for the highly anticipated Men’s ODI #AsiaCup2023, a symbol of unity and togetherness binding diverse nations together! Let’s join hands in the celebration of cricketing excellence and cherish the bonds that connect us all”.

The 2023 edition will feature two groups, with the top two teams from each group qualifying for the Super Four stage. In the Super Four stage, all teams will play each other once. The top two sides from the Super Four stage will then face off in the final.

There is a chance that India will face Pakistan thrice in the Asia Cup, considering results go that way. For that to happen, India and Pakistan will first have to qualify for the Super 4 stage. Then if they finish on top of that stage, they will again face each other in the final.

India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal will take part in the continental event.

Following the acceptance of the hybrid model by all stakeholders including the PCB and BCCI, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced last month that four matches will be held in Pakistan and nine in Sri Lanka with the event to held from August 31 to September 17.

The hybrid model was proposed as BCCI had clearly conveyed that it won’t send its team to Pakistan due to the tense relations between the two countries.

The hybrid model proposed by Najam Sethi, the chairman of the dissolved cricket management committee of the PCB, and was accepted by the ACC members including India.

“Not Heard Of These Parties,” M Kharge Mocks NDA Meet. What PM Said

“Not Heard Of These Parties,” M Kharge Mocks NDA Meet. What PM Said

PM Modi slammed the new opposition front at the mega NDA meet.

New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a mega 39-party NDA meeting in Delhi this evening, hit out at Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge over his “not even heard of many parties” remark. “No party is big or small in NDA,” the Prime Minister said.

“NDA is not an alliance of compulsion but of contribution. No party is big or small in this alliance,” said PM Modi, adding “BJP got the majority in 2014 and 2019 but the government was formed by the NDA”.

Today was a day of big meetings. As the opposition alliance of 26 parties concluded their two-day meeting in Bengaluru, another 39-party mega meeting of the National Democratic Alliance began in Delhi.

The opposition alliance that will take on the ruling NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be called Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance – I.N.D.I.A. – said Mr Kharge after the meet.

Targetting the meeting of the BJP-led alliance, he said, “We have not even heard names of many parties”.

In a resolution passed at a meeting convened by the BJP, 39 parties repose full faith in PM Modi’s leadership to attain a bigger mandate in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls than 2019.

PM Modi slammed the new opposition front, saying alliances built on negativity have never succeeded and asserting that the NDA will return to power for a third consecutive term, bagging more than 50 per cent of the vote share.

The meeting saw the presence of a host of existing and new BJP allies as the ruling party has worked overtime in recent weeks and months to seal fresh alliances and win back those who had quit the ruling combine.
